Did you guys notice the symbolism behind those flock flying away in the background? Because it said to be that birds are sensitive to shift and changes in the energy feild, and so, when Ellie run back the camera zoom back on Aster and you can see the birds flying away on the opposite direction. Every decision they made at that moment has become the ‘turning point’. Ellie on her part decides to be bold enough to go for the kiss. Aster miraculously decides to kiss her back in an instant. And with all the repressed longing and yearning something should have ignite. It probably took so ‘much’ control from Ellie to stop kissing Aster and if she didn’t, I don’t think they would have stopped anytime soon tbh.
Also, remember when Ellie said it was suppose to be just one letter? But then Aster wrote back and felt taunted? She took the message personally and went on with the letters, eventually, telling Paul he doesn’t need to pay her any longer? Jump to Ellie and Aster’s banter near the end (damn, we are missing a lot on this deliciousness) then Aster said to Ellie, ‘You could watch. In a couple of years, I will be so sure.’ Reminding us that a tide has in fact turned and with all Ellie’s sarcasm glory Aster was triggered. It was her turn to say, ‘Game on.’ without really saying it but was much implied.
Their relationship is really captivating. One, because they understand each other. Two, it was built on with challenges. Challenge each other in ways others could not. This is their connection. And the deliverance and execution of it all is better than I expected. I couldn’t ask for a better movie. To me, the story is astoundingly beautiful.
