Okay so everyone remembers the episode Intuition, right? Specifically the scene where Astro Chat reactivates Monarch’s Second Chance instead of taking the Miraculous? Yeah well I’m still pissed at the fandom for being annoyed that he did that
First and foremost: he has not only used his Cataclysm but is now trapped in a Shell-ter IN SPACE! Need I remind you that at this point he WILL transform back in less than five minutes, which means, guess what? HE WILL DIE IN FIVE MINUTES IF HE DOES NOT GET BACK TO EARTH
“Oh but he could’ve unified and been fine” but he CAN’T! As seen in Re-Creation, the Kwami’s aren’t attached to their Miraculous anymore which means he still would’ve transformed back!
“Oh but even if he died, Ladybug could’ve brought him back” okay and how is she going to do that when Bugfighter has destroyed her yo-yo and currently has her trapped? Sure Claudie could’ve helped out, but Astrobug had no way to summon a Lucky Charm and, as we learned in the New York special, wouldn’t have been able to repair the damage Bugfighter caused
So, once again, say it with me: HE WOULD HAVE DIED AND STAYED DEAD
“What about Bunnyx?” Adrien dying straight up wouldn’t be something Bunnyx would interfere with because, guess what? Adrien’s life doesn’t outweigh the rest of the universe
But technically speaking, yes, Bunnyx COULD save Adrien, but that’s only IF it would directly result in Marinette/Ladybug’s Akumatization and for no other reason
In other words, no matter how stupid of a decision it seemed: Astro Chat resetting Monarch’s Second Chance was the best choice because not only did it inevitably result in their victory, but ALSO unknowingly sped up Monarch’s death via Cataclysm
