"death of the author" is a concept created to describe and argue that the author's intent is not the ultimate and universal authority on the meaning and relevance of a piece of art

The internet has instead turned it into one of two:

-either a spell to invoke to completely dismiss and demerit an author's intent over their own work, to the point it gets essentially pushed out of the conversation:

-or a spell to justify uncritically consuming art made by bigots and abusers, often who are actively benefitting from that consumption and utilizing it to further their wretched agendas

Man I sometimes really hate how niche my art is, it makes me feel like I just don't fit anywhere, and sure whatever, being "unique" is good but it's also a very isolating experience

I don't quite fit in the horror art scene

I don't quite fit in the furry art scene

I don't quite fit in the fine art scene

I don't quite fit in the creature design scene

I don't quite fit in the concept art scene

I don't quite fit in the metal art scene

I don't quite fit in the queer art scene

I don't quite fit in the fandom art scene

I don't quite fit the nature art scene

I just don't know where to go, I'd love to find spaces I fit into where I could socialize and find existing platforms to help boost my work's visibility, but again, I just don't fit anywhere

Seeing people recommend HUION as a Wacom alternative in light of Wacom using AI for advertising, only for HUION to immediately start selling AI shit too, should be a good reminder for you all that "ethical companies" do not exist, ethics are incompatible with capitalism's goals; maximizing profits and cutting costs will ALWAYS be their number one priority, they don't give a flying fuck about you, or your morals, or your ethics, or your job, or your livelihood, the only thing currently installed in the system stopping them from selling your mom into slavery is the threat that is government regulations.

Found a queen of Atta mexicana walking outside my door, seeing these lil gals around is definitely my favorite part of the rainy season :)
