Again, nobody asked, but I've been thinking about my tragic angry fire boy

I was thinking about how different he is from Atumu. So essentially Atumu is like a sheepdog. Like a good working border collie. He is living his best life when doing a job and doing a good job. He lives to serve.

Atamu is like....a feral wolf. He doesn't do well in captivity and doesn't like being bossed around. Unfortunately, he has been brought up in an extremely restricted and regimented environment. He is literally like a caged wild animal. Absolutely feral but kept "calm" (in check) by a tight leash and thick barred cages.

Basically for the first idk 10+ years, he never stops trying to escape. Fight back. Punch, fight, bite, claw. Anything he can do to get out.

They find that one of the only ways to keep him in check is cattle prods or tasers. By the time he's like 16, those even have limited effect. This kid is so fucking strong.

So when he's about that age (16-ish), he gets a sort of microchip grafted onto his vertebra at the base of his skull (C2 vertebra). It serves not only as a tracking device (as they will find useful with his many escape attempts) but also as an internal defibrillator. It's like a taser built into his bone, attached to his spine. Even at lower intensities, it completely paralyzes him. It was the best investment they ever made because this would be the first time ever they managed to control Atamu.

As he gets older, they have less need to use it in a debilitating way. It eventually acts more like a shock collar than a taser - to keep him in check. It's enough to act like a spray bottle like when a cat jumps on the table. That isn't to say there aren't moments when they do need to use it to its full disabling capabilities, when Atamu goes completely feral.

Needless to say, all this builds up to essentially creating an absolute monster. They've essentially created this feral beast who has built a resistance against the strongest electrical shocks and whose raw brutal strength seem basically unparalleled. He's fucking terrifying. And he doesn't want to be caged.

Local man has never smiled in his life.

I think Atamu, normal adult AU, has never smiled. Like. ever in his 30 years.

So I'm imagining this unrealistic but hilarious scenario

Character: -doing their own thing, maybe cooking or humming to themself-

Atamu, watching them: How are you doing that with your face?

Character, turning around, confused: What with my face?

Atamu, repeating: How are you doing that with your face?

Character, laughing confused: What are you talking about?

Atamu, dead serious: That. (Gestures vaguely to face) The thing with your mouth and then your eyes get small and your face kind of scrunches up

Character: SMILING?????????

A: yeah

C: omg are you telling me you don't know what smiling is???

A: (deadpan)

C: it's like...when you're happy and you smile -- try it! (Smiles big as an example)

A: (grimaces horribly, bearing teeth with squinty eyes, making a snarling face)

C: we'll uhhh....we'll work on that

the challenge of Atumu being the main OC I draw all the time is that whenever I draw another male character, my baseline sketch for the pose has basically Atumu’s proportions but he’s like a fucking stick and no one looks like that so I gotta make ppl THICC

I feel like I’ve mentioned it here before but I should probably mention again - Atamu is also ace. He is aro ace just like Atumu. (Well not just like Atumu - Atumu is sex repulsed and slightly romo repulsed as well; Atamu is neutral towards both.)

He experiences ... sex drive? Like he can get turned on - Atumu can’t (really). Atamu can have horny moments, but it’s never tied to any person or thing. Just sort of pent of sexual frustration.

He has no real interest in sex at all. And frankly, he would be a very bad sexual partner. He’s prone to violence and too strong (he and his brothers are technically humans but they are also technically demigods and so Atamu really is too strong) and is likely to severely hurt someone if he were to engage in sex with them. 

Re: romance - I take back that he is romo neutral. He’s probably also very romantically repulsed. I can imagine him scrunching his face in displeasure if someone expresses romantic interest in him. Because tbh “Why” Like his brother, he doesn’t really know what that means (”Love?”) and he finds it sort of disgusting and a waste of time. He does not experience romantic feelings.
