Sometimes, when Ellen is sent away on scouting missions, she can’t help but wonder about things. Even beyond the questions she has no business asking, out in the middle of what’s essentially ( for now ) nowhere, she wonders if she’d ever have a successful chance at just running away. She’d already gone pretty far off from her instructed destination ( after having already reached && reported on it, of course ), so what was stopping her from just continuing to run?
As inviting as the seemingly endless stretches of trees appeared, however, the thoughts only last for a moment. The truth always rears its ugly head in her mind that even if she didn’t basically belong to her mother’s “employer,” now, there was no chance her mother would ever let her get away that easy.
Even if that lesson hadn’t been drilled into her long before now, there was the risk of if she finally had someone else who might survive testing and join her in the Canine Unit -- she was expected to be the leader of that theoretical pack. She had to be there for them, no matter how long it took.
She’s pulled back to the wilderness as a new scent catches her attention -- a faint trace of another living being somewhere in the area. It wasn’t like a mobini, && maybe whoever ( or whatever ) it belonged to had already completely left the area -- but it was something she could tell was at least somewhat recent. If it was still here, she’d probably be expected to scope it out, just to make sure it isn’t something that will get in the way or cause trouble.
So she tracks it, slowly, getting lost in one area before finally picking it up again && following once more, eventually coming across what seems to be some sort of camp -- at least, she thinks so. She knows she sees a fire pit ( && she can smell the ash and cinders -- it was used not too long ago ) as well as a tent. Although she should move slowly && constantly remain acutely aware of if there was anyone nearby or listening for exactly when someone might enter the camp, her curiosity gets the better of her. She just wants to see what all this camp might have to offer.
At the very least, she remains semi-close to the ground as she begins to thoroughly search around -- starting with the “walls” && the main surrounding area, before working her way in.
