February Style and Beauty Wants, Favorites, and Trends
Why hello again, my lovelies! Welcome to this crazy thing called February, which sadly and happily contains Valentines Day. Now, I know some of us with a special somebody may be enchanted with the upcoming holiday. (I am not included in that group of people because I like to think I am single by choice, but who knows the truth.) Regardless of being single or taken, you can certainly enjoy this holiday, and I am here to show you all the newest trends and fashions and tricks and stuff. But this post won't include all of that. This post is only a list of some trends, wants, and favorites of mine.
I know you probably think I am going to go super corny with hearts, pink, frills, chocolates, and roses, but that is not the case. This Febuary, other I would prefer to fill the hole in my heart with a pair of boyfriend jeans than an actual male specimen. The classy, yet sassy look from distressed, baggy boyfriend jeans? Lord, help me. It might as well be a shirtless David Beckham because my heart skips a beat. I am craving a pair from TOPSHOP’s new line of jeans. (x) Personally, the lighter washes are driving me mad, but you tell me what you think.
My next obsession is with wide brimmed hats like guru of Trop Rouge (x) wears as a signature. If you have ever taken a peek at my icon, it is of me wearing a classic, brown fedora with a wide brim, which I adore. Recently, my craving for more hearwear has spun me around like a top, so I have also purchased a floppy, black hat (x) and am on the search for a great camel one inside my price range. Almost any retailer of higher fashion clothing should have these, but I have looked and found great ones at Urban Outfitters, Planet Blue, NastyGal, and TOPSHOP.
Two words. Big. Sunglasses. I am admiring so many people all over wearing fantastic sunnies with fun classic and new fangled designs. Anthropologie (x) has a great selection of sunnies available at to the moment although the prices are shockingly high. I feel in love with the Tort Sunglasses (x) at first sight, so it is lucky for me that they are only $38. Urban Outfitters has some really out of this world sunnies as well that I advise looking at. If you do not want to purchase a new pair, then you color upgrade some cheap oldies with a new paint job (x) or some ace rims. (x) Whether you buy or upgrade, you will be able to wear your new sunnies all spring and summer, if not now.
I am loving the little nothings as necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings. And I don’t mean only one number in front of the decimal when I say “little nothings.” In fact, I mean those simple, small pieces that a lass can wear daily. “Little nothings” are usually pricey, but Katie Dean Jewelry (x) is making that a thing of the past with their rings. Other Katie Dean Jewelry pieces are on the more expensive side, so if you aren’t up for pay those prices then Brandy Melville (x) is your soulmate. However, I have had friends complain of Brandy Melville’s rings giving them that greenish-blue coloring around their fingers when they wear them too long.
My last three favorites have been accessories, so let’s keep that up for one more paragraph. It is time to talk about shoes. Well, not just shoes, but more of boots. Now, I don’t know what you do in your free time, but I am spending way too many minutes, or hours, of my day gawking at lines of boots online. Pathetic, I know. I adore my Docs, but Jeffrey Campbell boots? Why can’t I have the best of both worlds? I feel that every girl can have sprinkles of elegance all over her, yet have a pair of kickass boots in her closet. So I am definitely seeking a pair of classy, high heeled boots. This isn’t only about boots though. Am I the only one who keeps seeing heels with those ankle straps and is thinking “Well, damn. I could rock those” to myself? I can’t be, can I? Definitely looking out for a pair of those. Like I said, sprinkles of elegance, but still kickass.
Keeping up with kickass look, I am dying for these basic, cropped tees in colors like gray, black, and white that go with everything. You can get them anywhere for under for about $20 or less. Even though they are pricey, I love TOPSHOP’s. (x) You can wear these basic pieces with an oversized sweater, a maxi or a mini skirt, or with jeans. They are really that flexible in styling and easy.
Now, I will cave to the girly shit. As a basis for this February and the rest of spring, pastels and florals are anyone’s game. Both are simple and loveable. I love it all from pastel nail polish, hair colors, shoes, or clothing. I love my pastel colors. Going hand and hand with this is the fabulousness that is floral. Basically this spring is going to be great trend wise, but at the same time it is mainly just trends that we all know and love like sundresses, light blue denim, and the comeback of last year’s flower crowns. My make-up favorites include metallic and/or pastel eyeshadows, bright eyeliners, and lipsticks that stray from the typical picks and reds.
That is all for now, lovelies!. I am so excited for this month because who needs a boyfriend to have fun? Especially when you have a group of friends who will watch Audrey Hepburn movies with you. If you don’t have a Valentine already, I will happily be yours. We can go shopping together and do all that stuff that the other half of a couple refuses to do. If you do have a special somebody for this up-coming Valentines Day, then enjoy. I hope all the romantic stuff goes well or something. Wow, this is awkward. I am going to end it now before I dig my own grave. xx. Lydia
