Hey friends! I return from not posting for about a year to drop chapter one of my new zombie apocalypse au! I’ve been working on it for about a month now but it’s slow going so I’m not sure how fast new chapters will come out, but I’m really excited to be writing again! This will be a griddlehark modern au, and is currently rated M but might go up to E depending on how much gore there ends up being.

Summary:  Gideon Nav lives in an small city apartment with three med students. Aside from regular altercations with her nemesis, college life is going just peachy. That is until an unknown virus begins breaking out along the coast with symptoms akin to a fucked up human version of rabies, except instead of paralysis and death, its victims wander the streets aimlessly in search of throats to rip out. Finally, Gideon has something worse than ex-girlfriends and final exams to worry about: the zombie apocalypse.

Just gonna bite the bullet and start posting. I was going to release a chapter a week but I think I might do one per day just because I think it’s more satisfying when the chapters are read closer together (as I wrote it all as if it were a one shot, with no chapter breaks, initially).

I’ve never seen a story like this, but I don’t have the encyclopedic knowledge of these fics that most of you (which is so freaking impressive). Inspired by my little 16 year old emo heart, My Chemical Romance, and time travel. So, without further ado...

At the End of the World

Canon Divergent (You’ll see), Rated M for violence, language and eventual sexy time. InuKag, with smatterings of other pairings that don’t factor too much into the plot. Angst ahoy. 

Time passes, often without permission. People change. People die. Can Kagome travel through the well one more time to save the man she loves? And if she does, can she survive when she gets there?

Over the years, she had grown accustomed to counting measures of time. When the jewel was destroyed, it was seconds at first. One second, two seconds, three, and as they passed, the world around her blurred from darkness into colors and light. Then seconds became minutes. She realized she was home, but it was not the home she wanted to be at— she was on the wrong side of the well. Two minutes, and nothing. No pull to the other era. Her Mom and Souta had rushed outside to find her on her knees, sobbing, cursing from the bottom of the well, fingernails caked in the dirt. Still, nothing. Her family tried to comfort her, telling her that it would surely open up soon, that things would just take some time since the jewel didn’t exist anymore. Of course, she believed them. Hope flowed from them like water, and like a parched woman in a desert, she drank it up. It would open soon.

Days passed.

He would be back, or she would go back, or something would happen and she’d see his face again.

More days passed.

A month, two. A holiday. More months. A birthday. More holidays. A year.

One whole year. This time, her fingernails were caked in dirt and blood.

Another year.

One more year.

She graduated.

And still, nothing. Nothing. Now hope was like the desert sand, sifting through her fingers. Three years. Three years and nothing.

“I’m so sorry, Inuyasha,” she whispered. “I truly didn’t mean to worry you. I wasn’t thinking; I guess that was the problem. It’s just, it’s so hard being here in this time and not helping. Knowing what I know. And with you I always feel so invincible, like nothing can touch me. And I know, I know you weren’t there technically, but even knowing you were nearby made me feel stronger. You make me stronger,” she said. She place a tentative ash-covered hand on his arm. “And I’m sorry if it made me reckless and I worried you.”

He continued to stare, eyes intense. He’d never been this quiet before, had he? Usually he was toe to toe arguing with her.

She started to open her mouth to fill the silent void, when he grabbed her arms and kissed her. Hard.

1. This is my favorite chapter.

2. This contains one of two scenes that almost made me cry. The other one is in the last chapter.
