what happened. more like what didn't happen. that worse possible thing happened and now there's nothing but rubble left. the dust hasn't settled and she knows it won't be settling for a long time. she doesn't even know if he can be trusted. but saving someone from the brink of death should count for something, right? “i take it you don't have cable out here.” out here in the middle of no where where all anyone on the news could talk about was the events of the past week. politicians were being hounded about it, the cashier at the gas station thought it was a hoax to cover up another alien invasion, the religious guy yelling about the end of times was now yelling about it being a sign from god. everyone and anyone was talking about what happened. so this cabin in the middle of nowhere with a breath taking view was the perfect place to lay low and take a breath before pushing onward once more. “can i at least come in?” the backpack's strap in hiked up her shoulder, dark eyes flickering over tyler's shoulder and into the small cabin.

It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out exactly what the spine plate was. He had been staring at it for a good minute or two before head turned toward Raleigh and the question had escaped his lips. Elias was no stranger to the reminders of people and things that they lost throughout the years. Somewhere in his apartment, there was a box with his own co-pilots dog tags and a handful of polaroids. Pictures of Elias with Zeke, his co-pilot, and some with the Becket brothers. “That’s a long time to hold onto it,” he said as he finally tore his gaze away from it. she had her headphones on, a podcast keeping her company while she did the menial kit upkeep tasks she now did more out of habit than need. considering she only worked on a few people and only when they needed it. abby still liked to keep her kit and brushes clean and sanitized though. now she mostly did her cleaning at night when most on their little base were asleep or soon to be. she liked the quiet. while she was working, she was completely in her head. she didn't realize someone had come up behind her to look over her shoulder. when she did realize, she dropped her brush, reaching up to take the headphones off. "shit! four, you scared the hell outta me!"

raffi had found herself a nice routine on her day off, and for the most part it centered around expanding her book collection in her new apartment and finding somewhere nice to read. she had done just that, finding a new bookstore and a cafe near by. she had a spot by the window and a cup of coffee in the hand that didn't hold her newest purchase. she glanced up for a moment, easily distracted by unfamiliar city sounds, and caught a glimpse of a familiar face outside. as soon as she registered his face, she marked her page, dropped her book into her bag and walked outside as quickly as she could. "callum," she called, waving to catch his attention. "hi! what are you doing here?"

she'd never really kept track of how long it's been to begin with but with her bad habits taken to new extremes as coping mechanism, the days had started blurring into each other. it felt like eternity to her either way, every day without him painfully and needlessly long. noticing the familiar frame from the corner of her eyes, she was sure she was just imagining him which would definitely not be the first time it happened. though as he speaks up and says something so out of pocket and unserious for the actual situation, she freezes at the realization of him being real. head turned, green eyes stare at him for a few moments as tears well up in her eyes. daisy then sprints towards him and jumps at him - knowing with certainty he would catch her. arms and legs both wrap around him tightly as she buries her face in his shoulder, a sob escaping her. relief, happiness, anger, confusion all rush through her at once but for now she's focused on not letting go of him - afraid she's going to lose him all over again.

It had happened too quickly for him to genuinely say what had happened at first. The feeling of the blade slicing through the skin of his upper arm had caused him to cry out — A couple of choice curses in elfish fell past his lips. “You had Bonnie and Clyde days?” She should not have sounded as surprised as she did. With some of the things that she knew about Joel’s past, it did not seem that far fetched that he would be in some kind of situation that could qualify as ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ like. Tate put the can of soup that she had been eating out of to the side to turn her full attention to Joel. Chin propped up in the palm of her hands, she raised an eyebrow in an expectant look. “Gonna elaborate on that?”

“Really?” Julian tilted his head back so it rested against the back of her shoulder. Numbness had slowly started to set in to his bound limbs and he wriggled his fingers in an attempt to keep some feeling. Some people may be surprised by it but Julian had not been held hostage before. Maybe he had come close to it, though. There was another wiggle as he tried to test the restraints and barely flinched at the burning it caused against the exposed skin of his wrists. “You know how to get out of this, then? Know anything useful?”
