this is such a weird pet peeve to have but WHY do people keep drawing sokka with small ears. sokka has big, noticeable sticky-out ears and they are cute as hell. stop with this big ear erasure 😭

to everyone who writes or draws modern AU ATLA content - please please acknowledge that Katara and Sokka are still indigenous Inuit people and that the rest are all Asian-American immigrants (if you’re not setting the story somewhere in Asia). they are all people of colour and their cultures are deeply important to all of them. that doesn’t go away just because it’s the “modern day”
the word “appa” means father in my language (tamil) and so that’s what I call my dad.
anyway what i’m trying to say is that my white friend saw my phone ring today and yelled in a tone of shock “YOU HAVE APPA’S NUMBER? WHY IS A BISON CALLING YOU”
the best thing about drawing zuko is that you only have to draw one (1) eyebrow. also he can have mismatched eyes and you can pretend it’s artistic choice
“i truly do not care what people ship as long as they stop being rude about other people’s ships/characters” yes exactly! the same can also be applied to zvtara. like people will go to great lengths to erase their canon friendship in order to reduce their shipping potential. ive seen ppl say that zuko never really cared about what katara thought of him in TSR and only acted selfishly to protect his reputation, when that’s not true at all. he says so himself that he doesn’t know why he cares about what katara thinks of him, but just that he does. by no means do i ship zvtara romantically at all and instead prefer a platonic interpretation of their relationship, but there’s something very odd to me when people dismiss all impact that katara has had on zuko’s character in the show. look, if aang can smile happily on the side while zuko and katara hug at the end of the episode, then there’s no reason for you not to either lol.
yeah 100%! i've said this before and i'll say it again - zuko and katara's relationship is one of the most important ones in the avatar universe and they were integral to each other's character arcs. whether or not you ship it romantically - and i personally don't - erasing that friendship is extremely reductive.
the same goes in reverse. whether or not you ship katara and aang romantically, they are best friends and see each other as equals. their love and respect for each other - romantic or not - is also incredibly important.
katara has beautiful, nuanced and unique relationships with both aang and zuko. whatever you ship, both those relationships are important and should be acknowledged!!

today i found out that my friend watches avatar but it turns out that she thinks korrasami is queerbaiting, thinks aang is problematic (yes she ships what you think she does) and she thinks sokka and suki are bland. sos how i am supposed to respond to these ice cold takes
