Attended UCSD's Arts in Action: Connected show 2012. Initially went to see my girl Phoebe Kim in her theater final, and ended up getting a lot more than expected during the week before finals. Cools things about the show: - Atkinson Hall never looked so amazing. The production utilized all the structures from hallway, poles, grass, Warren Bear, display windows, lights.. everything - The audience was always moving around the area to see where the next act/scene took place. During, those transitions, performers kept a poker face and made their way to the next designated area. Some would guide us through and then we'd find our spots at the next area and awaited the next scene. - There were tents outside that had shadows of some of the performers inside making elegant hand movements. All at the same, each tent had a speaker that played a recording of that person's monologue. I stood next to Phoebe's tent for the most part and listened to her wonderful piece about the Hippocratic Oath and her mother. - They incorporated a hip hop piece by the poles in Atkinson and then transitioned into stacking each other by using the pole as their center structure. - The most emotional scene was probably the scene in the dark theater room where some girl looked like she was having a seizure and crying. I never seen anyone dance so beautifully while portraying misery at the same time. This music was kind of like scratched records of TV audio blares. GREAT JOB ARTS IN ACTION! :)
