Donna Haraway, A Cyborg Manifesto, 1985 response.
I found it interesting to have an analysis to a science fiction concept that have been referenced several times but it has never been analysed with such level of detail and depth. Also, if we compare the time when this was written and the advanced that we have accom[plised now, we can observe that the line between human and machine is blurring in a different way that we expected. In Haraway’s section “Informatics of Domination” we can observe a comparison between the concepts that will and have evolved from hierarchy domination to the Informatics of Domination. I find this section very accurate to the world we are living now. We are concert about information to be a incredible valuable resource which has power and control over our lives. Perfection is no longer something we seek to achieve, we now look for optimization of the existing systems. Can we make things faster, larger and better has been the motto to a lot of the new problems that we are looking to solve. In my opinion, it was a really interesting reading and made me thing if the concept of cyborg is really a futuristic machine/human hybrid or a regular current individual who is attached and controlled by technology.
