Thank you . Those were the only words they needed. Hearing them brought forth a smile that only he would see. That only those two words could conjure. Their secret I love you. A code that no citizen would know.
Shuffling a few steps back she tried to deny her own guilt. Talon was right to suspect her of leaving. She was more than willing to bolt right now. It was Atom who made her want to leave, and who made her need to stay.
|| So light ‘em up, up, up. I’m on fire. (x)
I hate to say it, sweetheart, but I think you are crazy.
Atom
As You Walk on By | Atom & Lyra |
Walking to the cafeteria had been Lyra's one and only way of avoiding Flynn and her mentor. Both had done nothing but question why she had been so happy lately. Were they trying to imply that she was a grouch before? Between Flynn's sarcasm and her mentors seemingly endless questions Lyra was going to go insane. Having given herself the excuse of socialising with others, her mentor had regretfully let her go down to breakfast. Now, out in the lobby she sighed in relief and made her way towards the large doors. She hadn't seen or spoken to Atom since their talk that night. It had only been a few days and already she was getting distracted in training by thoughts of him walking through the door.
Pushing through the door way she took in the scene before her. Tributes scattered across tables, looking like they were about to fall asleep. or were wide awake. There never seemed to be a middle ground anymore. It was like in training. They either tried, or didn't. Taking a bowl of fruit and turning to the tables. She could only see a few people and she had absolutely no intention of striking up a conversation with any of them. Heading to the back, Lyra made her way between tables. Just as she went to go through another gap someone headed from the other side. Before she even thought to stop she had already collided with them. Stumbling back a step she pushed her hair out of her eyes. "Sorry, I..I didn't see you."
Hellevator || Talon and Atom
For the first time since coming to the Capitol, Talon left training early. With the damage from his misadventure with Lyra still healing, he probably shouldn't have attempted at all but it wouldn't be like him not to try. After a few hours spent performing at significantly less than his personal best, the headache was back at full power and it made a lot of sense to just head back upstairs. Secretly praying that Feather wouldn't be on their floor, he stepped onto the elevator and shut his eyes for a moment, sighing heavily. At the sound of approaching footsteps, his eyes snapped open and he groaned internally. The simple annoyance he felt was already progressing into the early stages of unjust fury. The newcomer turned out to be a kid about his age with blonde hair and an odd expression. By the time Talon thought of jamming the door close button, the boy had already stumbled onto the elevator with him. Without so much as a nod of acknowledgment, Talon hit the button for his floor and stared resentfully at the closing elevator doors. The car began to rise but it had barely carried them a few feet upward when it came to a sudden, violent stop. The lights flickered on and off and finally settled at a dimmer setting. Talon leaned against the wall for support. He couldn't be sure if it was the pain or the frustration that upset him more but, either way, he glared his companion as if this were all his fault and growled under his breath, "Well, fuck."
