4 Quick Tips to get your Ohm Meter Working Again
We understand the frustration that comes along when your vape gear fails to work how it's supposed to. Sometimes your digital ohm meter's reading may jump around or not read any resistance at all. Here we have compiled 4 useful troubleshooting tips for you to follow.
1) Make sure it’s not your atomizer:
Before taking the next steps, make sure it’s not your atomizer that is causing the issue. The easiest way to test this is by attaching a second atomizer to the ohm meter to see if the same symptoms occur. If the original atomizer is at fault, inspect it to make sure all screws and parts are fully tightened and that there isn't something causing an electrical short. Note: a jumpy reading is often times an indication of a short in your atomizer and does not always mean that your ohm meter is faulty.
2) Clean your 510 contacts.
Your atomizer must be making direct contact with the ohm meter for it to read the correct resistance. Make sure your 510 connections are free of dust, debris and e-liquid. To remedy this issue, use a Q-Tip and dampen it with isopropyl alcohol to wipe your contacts clean. Once dried, check to see if your ohm meter provides the correct resistance reading.
3) Replace your batteries.
Batteries that low in power can reveal itself through a myriad of symptoms. Not enough power can cause incorrect resistance readings or no reading at all. Make sure the replacement batteries are fresh and fully charged. Using old batteries from a remote control for example may result in the same issues.
4) Damaged or defective ohm meter.
If the above steps do not remedy an incorrect or jumpy reading then consider that the ohm meter may be damaged or defective. Some damage such as a drop or liquid spill will cause irreversible damage.
If you believe the ohm meter is not working due to a manufacturer's defect, contact the manufacturer and ask if they offer a manufacturer's warranty.
