(more…)

Teaching Bipedal Robots to Step Across Discrete Terrain
Teaching Bipedal Robots to Step Across Discrete Terrain

Like humans and most terrestrial animals, legged robots need the ability to move over rugged terrain to be useful in applications such as disaster response and search and rescue. However, designing control algorithms that can handle discrete footholds (like rubble or stepping stones) is challenging, because there are strict constraints on foot placement that can’t be…

Agility Robotics Evolves from OSU Research, Aims to Revolutionize Robot Mobility
Agility Robotics Evolves from OSU Research, Aims to Revolutionize Robot Mobility
The rapidly expanding robotics program in the College of Engineering at Oregon State University has spun off one of its first businesses, a company focused on legged locomotion that may revolutionize robot mobility and enable robots to go anywhere people can go.
The firm, Agility Robotics, is based in Albany, Oregon, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; already has several of its first customers; will…

This is ATRIAS, a 4.7 million dollar bipedal robot developed at Oregon State University, whose carbon fiber legs let him walk eerily like a human who has four knees and a microwave for a head.
Stephen Colbert on The Late Show
Atria's was a very odd restaurant, its located in Murrysville right across from the School. The food choices were quite confusing. They had American food like burgers and such. But, they also had Italian food as well. Make up your minds!!! Is it an Italian eatery or an American pub??? We went for Oktoberfest and got German food. Like what the heck!?! We also went there for Valentines Day. Honestly it was so gross and the menu was so limited that we knew we didn’t want to go back. 2 Stars

Always stoked about my alma mater! While human looking robots are fun to make and watch this is the future of robotic locomotion

The "ATRIAS" robot walks like a human
The “ATRIAS” robot walks like a human
Humanoid robots are intended to become more and more like people. But walking on two legs – one of the characteristic features of the human being – continues to pose particular problems to these machines. Dr. Daniel Renjewski of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), together with his colleagues at Oregon State University, has developed a robot whose gait comes closer than ever before to that…
