Pauline, a lesbian composer, has studied classical singing, piano, and oboe but began focusing on composition because “it allows me to blend all the aspects of music that I love to express myself, from theoretical forms to performance techniques and instrumentation.” This recent composition of hers, Atriia, is an important milestone and blends the aspects of writing that speak to the composer most. Keeping away from any established style, Pauline says that her music is most similar to contemporary world music.
