Synopsis: You've always had the ability to travel through universes, there was never a reason as to why and you never paused to question it. However, there was someone else who began to question it.
“And you’re 100% sure you’re qualified to do all of this?” Finding yourself seated on a medical chair with the sleeve of your arm rolled up and a tension banned wrapped around your forearm, you stared at Miguel wearily.
Over the past few days, you’d been stuck with the man going through some tests in order to determine your ‘danger level’. Most of them unfortunately coming out inconclusive leading the man to declare that he needed a blood sample.
“How many times do I have to tell you- I am qualified.” Rolling his eyes with an exasperated sigh Miguel shook his head, one hand holding an alcohol wipe while the other readied a needle.
Rolling your own eyes in a mockery you let out a huff. “Qualified with what though? I’ve been stuck in your presence for almost a week now and I barely know anything about you. What happened to some small talk or something?”
His head shook from side to side once more, the man merely humming to signify he was somewhat listening all the while taking a quick blood sample. It wasn’t that he didn’t like you; you seemed like an outgoing person, and got along with most of the people that happen to stumble across you within the HQ.
It was just the fact that he didn’t know if you were an anomaly or not and didn’t want to risk getting attached nor risk the multiverse.
He couldn’t go through any of that again.
“Well, what exactly do you want to know? I might feel obliged to humour you.” Pulling away from your arms and passing you a small bandaid, Miguel twisted around to set the vial of blood into a centrifuge. His gaze flickered towards you from the side awaiting whatever your little mind might come up with.
As if not expecting this response you hesitated for a second, suddenly every question you had before left your brain and only one stupidly basic one remained. “What's your favorite colour?”
Blinking almost dumbfounded at the simple question he fully turned to face you, mind wondering why out of everything you could’ve asked that you asked that.
“I don’t have one.”
“What about favorite animal?”
“No.”
“Favorite season?”
“None.”
“Are you just going to say no to all my questions or are you going to answer one of them?” Finding that he wasn’t answering anything no matter how simple you crossed your arms with a disgruntled huff.
Seeing the way you grew annoyed with his replies Miguel's lips barely quirked up, one of his thick brows raising. “Well, are you going to ask any actual questions?” Retorting back with that he then rose up from his seat, eyes remaining fixed to where you sat.
“Ok fine, if you weren’t bitten by a spider how come you’re still a Spiderman?”
“I’m not answering that.” Taking the vial of blood from the small machine Miguel had to hide his amusement at the way you’d begun complaining. Your smaller form quickly jumping up from your seat to begin berating him trying to come to a conclusion to your own question.
“But you said-” “I said I might feel obliged.”
“So you were never going to answer in the first place?!” Gasping dramatically at the realization you laughed in disbelief at the sort of sneaky smirk that’d curled across the man's face.
Maybe there was a reason you’d gotten mixed up in all this multiverse madness.
--
“Lyla,” Calling out to his AI, Miguel awaited her appearance. The holographic image right away questioned him on what he needed. “Check in on (Y/N).” The command was simple to follow, and despite the small teasing from the AI a screen had popped up before her.
“Mm looks like she’s chatting with some people.” Musing that out Lyla bobbed her head, her small form flickering to the side as Miguel peered over at the screen. A part of him wondered who you’d found yourself talking with.
He couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the sight of Ben leaning over a pillar dramatically, whatever being said presumably incoherent as yourself and the form of Peter both shared a look before bursting into laughter.
His chest rumbled.
“Lyla, assign those two to a mission.”
Looking over at the man with a brow raised she made a pop noise with her lips. “There are no missions curr-” “Make something then. Tell them to investigate something or someone or just- do something.” His hand waved through the air as he spoke, “And tell (Y/N) to come here.”
“Roger that.”
Watching the small hologram fade away he let out a breath, tongue running across the elongated canines within his mouth before another huff left him. Heavy steps bringing him back over towards the microscope he’d been occupied with for the past few hours.
Eyes peaking through it once more at the sample that rested below, watching the small cells dance around. The genetic makeup of them seemingly assimilating with the atmosphere around them, matching with the structure of those from that universe.
It was a breakthrough in his opinion.
A serendipitous breakthrough.
--
“Damn room is always so damn dark.” Stepping into the room that housed Miguel's strange floating office you grumbled under your breath about the lack of light, eyes struggling to adjust to it. “You know ambient lighting is a thing.”
“The light hurts my eyes.”
Practically jumping out of your skin at the sudden appearance of the hulking man you let out a forced laugh. “Does that have to do with your spider bite-less Spiderman abilities or something?”
“It does actually.” Without skipping a beat Miguel clicked his tongue, gaze drifting across the plain look stretched out across your face at the response, it looked like you hadn’t expected it either.
“Oh, ok thats, thats something I guess.” Clasping your hands together you nodded your head, praying that your face gave off the ‘what did you call me here for’ look.
To be honest, you didn’t mind Miguel. He was very intimidating upon your first meeting however it seemed like as the testing progressed and you were stuck with him for a while he seemed to loosen up. As much as he could at least, there were still some things that freaked you out a bit.
Such as the way he could just appear out of nowhere and scare the literal soul of of you as well as his temper. You’ve only seen it once since being at HQ, it was short but nearly ingrained into your brain as in that moment you’d come to find that perhaps he was more spider like- then the spider-people.
Fangs. He had fangs is what you meant, and claws- you think.
“You shouldn’t socialize too much with everyone here. They might question why a civilian is here.” Chiding that in absentmindedly he outstretched one of his arms towards the floating platform, a practically glowing web being shot from a device around his wrist allowing him to gain access to it.
Blinking at what he’d said then what he did you opened your mouth to speak only to shut it right after as that same glowing web shot down attaching to the front of your shirt. With a short yell in surprise, you were whisked onto the platform, Miguel's hands planting onto your shoulder to steady you as soon as you’d landed.
“A little warning would’ve been nice.”
“I’m going to swing you onto the platform.”
Giving him an ‘Are you serious’ look you’d dropped it rather quickly. He seemed different compared to when the last time you both chatted. More…willing to speak and joke around with you if that makes sense.
Before he seemed to keep you at arms reach but now it felt like he was trying to make up for lost time.
“Ok well we’re on the platform now, what did you want to show me? Or why did you need me.” Somewhat growing anxious with the sudden silence you watched him press a few things against a glowing orange keyboard, a pair of large circles popping up.
“Do you know what these are?”
Starring at the two things your brows furrowed. “I don’t know a cow pattern?”
“This one,” He pointed towards the one on the right, “Is from your average day civilian. This one,” the other one was pointed to. “Is from you. Notice any difference?”
“Yes?” He gave you an incredulous look and you corrected your response. “No, I don’t.”
“Exactly. From this, we know you’re not an anomaly.”
Perking up at this you stared at him in disbelief, heart beginning to race a little at the prospect of being allowed to leave. “So does that mean I can go home now? That we’re done testing?”
He didn’t quite like that implication.
“You are home.” Seeing the way your hands fell back to your sides he added on as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “This is the average citizen from here, Earth-928 and, your genetic code- this here,” He motioned back towards your circle. “Matches here.”
“Whatever home you had is here now. You belong here, it is set in stone.” There was no way he was going to mention how your code blends in with whatever universe you found yourself in.
Why go somewhere else, when you could stay there?
Blinking while trying to process what he was saying you began to shake your head in disbelief. “Well, your data is wrong then. I wasn’t born here, so I can’t stay here.” Stepping back you shook your head at him, mind still trying to wrap around this. “You said I’m not an anomaly so I can just continue to do what I was doing before coming here.”
“But what if you leave here and then become an anomaly? What happens then? It is proven that breaking what is meant to happen ruins worlds.”
“Now you’re just trying to psyche me out. I know I don’t belong here Miguel, whatever tests you did are wrong.”
Clicking his tongue he watched you carefully, eyes sharp, almost predatory now compared to how you recalled them being. However, he raised his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, you can go.”
“But do you even know where home is?”
Your mind paused at this, unwilling to quite process what he’d said. You’d been traveling around for so long- did you remember where you lived? Was there ever actually a place you called home or was that something you made up in a sort of last-ditch effort to seek self-comfort?
But, despite all that- you surely weren’t going to be stuck in one place. That’s not how you did things.
“I’m sure I can manage.” Choosing your words carefully noting how Miguel had become ridged you felt as though it was in your best interest to open a portal. “It was nice to meet you, Miguel.”
“You get lonely traveling around.” Once more he spoke, hand leaning out to press a key on the keyboard, your voice playing through some speakers of a conversation you’d had with Peter on one of a few occasions. Maydays father becoming some sort of comforting face you found yourself returning to for advice- despite his advice being close to unusable. “Never fitting in. People alienating you. Seems like you’ve had more fun and made more friends here than, say the hundreds of dimensions you’ve been to.”
“Am I correct?”
“Why are you suddenly so interested in everything? You weren’t like this the first time I came here.”
“I didn’t know if you were going to be stable here. But now I do.” Whatever was running through his mind left him letting out another breath. “And I know where you belong now. All this time, all these portals- led you here.”
“To me.”
Stunned. Shocked. Confused. Speechless.
Those were only a few words you could use to describe how you were currently feeling. Just an overall ‘What?’ could sum up everything.
“Miguel,” Raising a hand as though you were trying to tame some sort of wild animal you sucked in a breath. “I barely know you. You barely know me. We barely know each other.”
Taking a step the man hummed nodding along, something you previously took as a friendly manner now seemingly less friendly and more of a way to keep him from lashing out. “Then we get to know each other. It’s not too late.”
“It’s never too late.” Despite his tone sounding hopeful, the look he gave sent your nerves buzzing, a hidden challenge almost. Cocoa hues flickering a ruby hue the longer you seemed to remain silent- say something.
Seeing that you weren’t answering Miguel glanced up at the ceiling, the last bit of his patience wearing thin- not that it was very big, to begin with. “I’ll give you a head start,” A step forward from him was a step back for you, the airy laughs leaving him sounding hollow. “You can go anywhere you want, any dimension. But if you can’t find where your ‘home’ is by the end of the day?”
“I’ll come and get you. And bring you home.”

<Unedited again>
Casually wrote the three things on my account in one day <3 anyways if you have any issues with my writing or anything, sue me IG idk.
Anyways lemme know if you want a part 3- I might feel inclined to write more for my lovely lovely Miguel <3
Synopsis: Miguel is turned into a cat by a villain, Peter and Jess need someone to watch him until they find out how to fix it- this is where you come in, however, they neglect to mention that Miguel is the cat you're now tasked with looking over.
Warnings: None, lack of romance tbh but still kinda cute
“What’s the problem? Where’s the emergency?” Arriving at HQ out of breath and half put together you leaned against the doorway to the meeting room, mask to your costume in hand as you felt there wasn’t enough time to put it on.
“(Y/N)! Thank god you’re here.” Peter’s robe-clad form right away came over to greet you, the man's arm moving behind your shoulder to bring you farther into the room. “We had er- a little problem.”
Raising a brow you side-eyed him, gaze briefly spotting Jess also occupying the room, the woman's arms folded as her head shook from side to side in some sort of impatiens.
“Problem? What do you mean by problem? I thought there was an emergency.”
“Well I mean it’s kind of an-” “We need you to look after something for a bit,” Cutting the man off Jess spoke, the woman's loud voice quickly cutting through the air as she’d rounded a table. “Think of it like a mission.”
“Alright,” Somewhat following along you watched the woman with a skeptical stare. “What do you need me to do?”
She seemed the finally pause, her form kneeling a bit in order to pull something out from underneath the table. “We need you to watch him for a bit.” Rising back up she seemed to hold out a cat?
The fluffy brown feline seemed more than displeased with being held, it’s equally as fluffy tail swishing back and forth angrily.
“A cat? You need me to watch a cat?” Knitting your brows together you watched the two respond with a nod, the animal being placed back onto the floor where it begrudgingly trotted over occupying the empty space in front of you.
“Yes well,” Peter paused upon feeling the intense stare Jess had given him, the man releasing a laugh. “Yeah, we need you to watch him, very important and whatnot.”
Blinking while trying to process what was being said you sucked in a breath letting out a sigh; kneeling down you held out a hand towards the cat trying to beckon it over. “Does it have a name?”
“Mig-” “His names Mog.” Cutting Peter off Jess nodded her head. “We’ll pick him up later, but until then we just need someone we trust to look after him.”
You thought it was strange how they both spoke about the feline and how they chose you out of everyone to watch said feline, seemed a bit fishy. “Couldn’t you have gotten one of the others to watch him?”
Peter’s hand came quickly to rest on your shoulder. “Miguel trusts you and therefore thats why we figured you’d be the best choice.” Turning his head a bit he added on quietly so that only you could hear. “And we all know how you li-”
“Ok ok, I’ll take care of the cat.” Shoving the brunette away you let out a huff. “Jeez can’t tell you people anything.”
“You’re a saint.”
Rolling your eyes you moved to pick up the cat, your hands coming to wrap around it despite how reluctant it seemed. “Yeah yeah whatever.” Shaking your head once more you turned to head out of the office, cat in hand as you muttered to yourself. “Basically blackmail.”
“They so owe me.”
Taking a moment to see that the cat had a mere daypass wrapped around it’s neck like a collar you made the decision to just bring it back to your apartment. The animal seeming less tense once you’d made it out of HQ however it still refused to leave the spot on your couch that you’d sat him on.
You’ve had cats a few times growing up, however, this one just felt different from any cat you’d met.
“You are- certainly something Mog.” Finding yourself kneeling before him to stare into his little face your eyes took in the strange colour of his eyes, the brown colour was mainly present however near the center it seemed to become a ruby hue.
Pointing a finger towards the cat you held it up to him, trying to see if he’d rub into it like any other cat- however, he just raised a paw to push your hand away, tail flicking back and forth.
After a few more failed attempts to coax the cat into doing cat like things, you’d inevitably given up. Hand raising to rub the bridge of your nose as you’d mindlessly flicked on the TV to some random channel.
It was beyond your comprehension as to why Jess and Peter had a cat in HQ appart from spider-cat, and to ask you to watch it nonetheless?
Wild.
Figuring you’d leave the cat to do his own thing you trailed into your room, falling face first onto the bed intent on the possability of taking a nap.
Remaining on the couch for a few minutes the felines gaze trailed around the room, little knick knacks and picture frames littered the small space, as did a random assortment of blankets. There was the smell of vanilla in the air, presumably from a wax warmer however he’d also noted how you carried that scent as well.
Hopping off the couch he crept towards the rest of the room, eyes taking in the rest of the apartment as well as the little things that seemed to make it unique. Stupid little stickers were stuck in random places and he could tell some of the posted noted stuck to the fridge were from the youth of the spider society.
You did like to take care of everyone.
Taking a moment to stare at each note he eventually trotted towards where he assumed your room was, the curtains had been closed leaving only a sliver of sunlight to shine in.
Finding that the room was just as decorated as the rest of the apartment he moved towards the desk, the newfound cat agility making it easier to hop onto the surface. Gaze right away moving towards a turned off laptop.
He shouldn’t.
But, he’s good at keeping secrets so…
With the tap of a paw on the trackpad the device lit up, no password seemed to inhibit anyone from accessing the device which was both a good thing and bad thing. Good in that he didn’t need a password but bad because anyone could access it and see the photos you’d used as your wallpaper- each having a different member of the spider society.
Somehow navigating the mouse he tapped a few things opening up one of the photos, the title of it being ‘the loml’.
What did loml mean?
Sitting there for a good few minutes he gave up, attention moving to some more photos you’d taken, each having similar labels.
A disgruntled growl left the feline, his paws nearing the edge of the desk where he’d leaped from landing on the bed with a silent thump. Each paw moved with careful precision as he neared where your face was, a series of meows with the intent to wake you up leaving him.
Cracking your eyes open at the sound you let out a low groan, “Didn’t like what was on TV?” sarcastically asking that Mog merely meowed once more, his little snout jutting afterwards towards where your computer was.
Squinting a little bit to note what he was trying to get at you glanced towards the cat once more- there was something certainly strange about this particular brown cat. Your spider senses have been off the hook since leaving HQ however you just figured this is why a normal person couldn’t just take him in.
Sitting up you rose up from the bed, hands pulling out the chair tucked beneath your desk all the while Mog trailed over as well, the feline popping up onto your thigh quickly to peer over the surface.
“Did you open some stuff?” Tiling your head down while asking that you shook the thought away, reminding yourself that a cat couldn’t talk.
Brown and red hues stared up at you almost innocently, a sort of expectation followed after as though he were asking you what was going on on the screen.
Shifting to sit more comfortably you raised a hand pointing towards the screen, “This one’s me,” You pointed towards the left side, “And this one is Miguel.” Your hand trailed to the right towards where the less than enthusiastic man stood. “He looks really crabby but he can be nice when he wants to.”
Glancing down you took note of how the cat’s whiskers twitched at your answer, dual-toned gaze returning towards the desk where he then hopped onto, head rubbing the corner of the screen where the title of the document rested.
“Sometimes I think he carries too much.” Mindlessly musing that out you let out an airy laugh, the cat's attention seemingly solely focused on you now, as if trying to get you to continue with that train of thought.
Which you did.
“I know he’s got it rough, but I mean- I just don’t think anyone should deal with that alone- right?” You stared at the brown animal almost expectantly, hand coming to brush through your hair quickly. “I guess they say animals are the best listeners.”
Taking in your words he let out a trilling noise, stepping towards the edge of the desk where he seemingly nodded his head up and down.
Reaching out a part of you felt happy when Mog had let you gently pet his head, fingers scratching the side of his face softly.
“You’re so cute.” Cooing softly you continued to pet the cat only pausing once you felt that it was enough, you couldn’t afford to get attached to the animal knowing that Jess or Peter would be dropping by later in the evening to pick him back up.
Perking up a little Mog turned his head towards something shiny off to the side, his tail swishing back and forth as he tried to figure out what exactly was wrapped around one of the many water bottles scattered around your room.
Noting where he was looking you let out a soft laugh, body rising from the chair in order to bring the bottle over taking off the item of interest.
It was a bracelet.
“Made this for someone but I don’t think he’d want it,” Taking the bracelet off the bottle you held it in your hand to show Mog, “He’d not really the accessory type.”
There was a sort of bitterness to your words; there were many occasions that you’d tried to get in the good graces of the leader of the Spider-society, and despite the insistence from Peter that you were liked- it didn’t quite feel that way.
“Whatever though, here let's hide that day pass for now.” Making sure that the bracelet wasn’t too small or too big you slid it over Mogs face happy that he seemed to let you, the item now sitting neatly around his neck. “So handsome.” Cooing once again a smile gradually broke out among your face.
Taking in your expression Mog let out a churr, the noise causing your smile to widen.
---
“-and then Hobi and I got stuck on the train, honestly have no clue what happened after that but the mission ended pretty quick. He’s not great with damage control though so we got an earful back at HQ.” Finishing your story absentmindedly you continued moving throughout the kitchen.
Yourself and Mog having migrated there after lingering in your room a while longer.
“Oh my god and Miguel- so we were both like absolutely coated in mud and whatnot and didn’t think about the mess it'd track in- so he absolutely reamed us out.” You laughed briefly at the memory lips curling up into a smile. “Although I do think Hobi got the brunt of the scolding.”
Taking a moment you thought back to that day, recalling how you’d been able to avoid most of the yelling and instead were told to just go and clean up.
Maybe Peter was right to some extent.
With a sigh you paused whatever you were doing, arms folding over one another as you leaned onto the counter that Mog sat on.
“You’re a good listener.” Turning your head to the feline you extended a hand finding that he allowed you to pet the back of his head once again.
Taking a moment you turned, both hands coming to squish Mogs little face pressing a quick peck to the top of his head. “If Jess and Peter weren’t coming to get you I’d a hundred percent just take you in.”
At the mention of leaving Mog let out a huff, his tail swishing back and forth as though he himself didn’t want to leave.
It was homey here, you were homey.
Deciding that you weren’t hungry anymore, you’d moved to scoop the cat off the counter, holding him within your arms much like how one would hold a baby.
“Let’s go watch some Netflix or something- they updated black mirror.”
—-
The quiet atmosphere of your apartment was interrupted briefly as an orange glowing portal illuminated the room, Peter’s form stepping out.
“(Y/N)? I’m here to pick up the cat.” Calling out into the apartment the man let out a sigh upon hearing no response, slipper-clad feet scuffling across the floor towards the open doorway at the end of the hall. “(Y/N)?”
Hesitantly peeking into the room the man let out a soft laugh, his eyes took in the way you and the cat sat.
Your laptop had been sat on the covers in front of you, all the while you laid on your side, one hand resting over the brown feline as he himself curled up comfortably.
“Knew it.” Holding himself back from fist pumping the air he trailed towards the two, hand reaching over you in order to poke the sleeping feline.
A low Murr left him before he rose his small head, eyes landing on Peter.
“Come on, we gotta go.”
Almost reluctantly slipping out from beneath your hand the cat gave a short stretch inevitably leaving with Peter.
It was a few hours later that you’d begun to stir, the feeling of something heavy sitting along the edge of the bed barely registering in your mind.
Rubbing your eyes with a yawn you’d sat up, joints cracking in response.
“Sleep well?”
Jumping at the voice your head snapped around, eyes landing on the corner of your bed where the form of Miguel surprisingly leaned on.
The head of his suit was deactivated leaving his face readable.
“Yeah yeah, it was good- er what are you doing here?” Having stood up from the bed trying to make yourself a little more presentable a sheepish smile crept across your face. Your eyes briefly flickered around the room in search of a certain feline.
“Just wanted to give my thanks.”
Blinking in response to what he was saying you opened your mouth to question the statement, pausing once he’d raised a hand to display his wrist.
A bracelet was wrapped around the blue and red suit, the bracelet you’d put on Mog.
Wait.
“Hold on- you,” Pointing a finger at the man you pieced your thoughts together; Jess and Peter keeping this hush-hush, you being tasked with pet sitting, the cat having the same striking pair of eyes that Miguel did-
You were so dumb.
“Let’s just keep that between the four of us,” Noting how you’d pieced things together he let out a hum, head shaking from side to side a little in a sort of amusement.
Running the palms of your hands down your face the tips of your ears burned, your form face plant back into the bed with a muffled groan.
Head popping up briefly to speak, “Can we also forget the last few hours? For humility’s sake?”
At the mention of that, the edges of his lips quirked up head tilting back to regard you with a teasing smile. “Why? Am I not handsome anymore?” He couldn’t help himself in commenting that, the man chuckling softly as more groans arose from you.
Deciding to continue on he leaned over a bit hovering above where your head was, “Not cute? No more praise for being a good listener?” At the sound of you muttering something incoherent he couldn’t help but grin, eyes taking in the way you hid yourself.
Moving so that he could kneel on the floor at the foot of your bed his hands reached out to press against the sides of your face pulling it out from within the covers, an obvious embarrassed look covered your face.
“Really though, you could say this was…eye opening.” Resting his chin onto the covers he stared into your eyes, a genuine look of gratitude crossing his features followed by a hum. “However I do disagree with being crabby- I like to think I'm more work-oriented,” Taking a moment to think he added on, thumbs both coming to brush against your cheeks. “But, maybe I do have too much on my plate.”
Giving your face a gentle squeeze he pulled back, hands moving to rest against his hips as a new question dawned on him.
“Now answer me this, what does loml mean and why did you label all our photos with that?”

Anyways this idea was from one of my Instagram mutuals so if it's ass- blame them
Synopsis: You've always had the ability to travel through universes, there was never a reason as to why and you never paused to question it. However, there was someone else who began to question it.
Warnings: Idk None?
Part 2 Here
“Stop running! It’ll make things a lot easier!”
“Well stop chasing me!”
Brightly coloured portals opened one after another, only allowing you a second to peer around the surrounding dimension before another took its place quickly after entering another portal.
Your heart thundered from within your chest; shoes skidding across the cement sidewalk of the Renaissance-type dimension you’d ended up in. The painted civilians quickly moved out of the way- now whether it was because of you or your pursuer you didn’t know.
How in the hell did you even end up in this situation you may ask?
Easily actually. (Not really though- buckle up because its a long story)
Since the day you were born and since every day after that you were blessed with an ability that nobody else seemed to have. The ability to traverse the multiverse. It was an accident at first, back when you were a teenager you’d accidentally opened up a portal; the brightly colored tunnel nearly calling to you.
And, like an idiot- you dove in. The need for an adventure nagging at the back of your mind despite not knowing what would become of it.
The multiverse was vast, full of things you’d never seen and people you’d never met.
Talking animals, flying cars, dinosaurs, and the ones that seem to enamor you the most? Superheroes. You never thought they’d actually exist however in the amount of time you’d spend traveling around you’d come across your fair share of them.
Few spared you merely a wave as though you were one of their many adoring fans while others- others weren’t as friendly as you’d hoped. It seemed like a few people were aware of the multiverse, the categories of aliens, sorcerers, and a collection of arachnid-themed heroes namely- your experiences with them remain mixed as it seemed some particularly didn’t like the thought of someone from another universe stepping into theirs.
You did, however, end up meeting a particularly friendly individual. He was hesitant at first which was a given when you appeared out of nowhere, however, he seemed to understand the multiverse more than those you’ve met previously- the reason being he himself had traveled through it.
Albeit accidentally but the man couldn’t help but mention how there was a society of others who did the same.
Spider-people is what you learned the “club” was formed up of; a general ‘I was bitten by a spider and have powers now’ group of people who each protected their fair shares of dimensions.
“What I do wonder though is how you travel around?” He couldn’t help but inquire on that, the spider-sense he possessed hadn’t quite tingled in the way it normally did around other spider-like individuals, leading him to question you. It wasn’t like you had a watch like he did either.
“Oh, I can just-” Raising a hand you waved it through the air, a brightly coloured tunnel popping up quickly before closing just as fast as it opened. “Make them appear.”
This spurred on a list of questions, all of which the man openly asked before groaning as his phone had seemingly gone off. “Sorry about that. I have to pick up Mayday from daycare.”
Recalling how he excitedly told you about his daughter you nodded your head in understanding, hand waving. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll see you around Peter.” Upon raising your hand another portal had opened, and you jogged towards it with a smile disappearing with a flash.
You thought Peter was a good person, and thought his daughter was cute- however he on the other hand wasn’t sure what to think about you. You seemed nice, no malice could be detected however he wasn’t sure about the ability you possessed.
During his time working in the multiverse, he thought something like that was impossible for an individual to have- even more so that you could just freely move back and forth without glitching.
Did that mean anything? He wasn’t sure.
He wasn’t sure at all.
--
“She can- What?”
Absentmindedly following after his escapee of a daughter Peter spoke once again, his tone nonchalant. “Yeah, so she can just wave her hand around and open up portals to wherever- Mayday! Come back here.” The aforementioned baby had quickly begun crawling up a pillar as he tried to explain.
Rolling back his shoulders from where he stood among an elevated platform the tall man let out an exasperated breath, red and blue clad hand raising to pinch the bridge of his nose. “This doesn’t make sense, surely there was som-”
“There was no device Miguel, nothing at all. Nope, nada, zip, just a wave and boom portal. Wasn’t even like how those wizards open them either- I don’t think they can access the multiverse with those rings.”
“Sorcerers, and if there's no device then there has to be something else, a normal person can’t do that.” Miguel emphasized his words trying to show that this should be something they should worry about. Someone with the capability to jump from world to world could inevitably lead to the whole thing potentially collapsing.
And he couldn’t have that.
“Lyla,” At the mention of her name the AI quickly popped in, her hands laced behind her back awaiting what he was going to ask. “Scan for any anomalies, narrow it to ten-second intervals nothing larger than that.”
“I don’t really see a probl-” “You know what the problem is.” Cutting Peter off Miguel stared down at the man, lips pursed into a fine like before his shoulders relaxed a little and he sucked in a breath. “Better safe than sorry.”
Turning his attention back to the holographic screens before him, Miguel clenched his jaw a little at the lack of data, a short glare being sent to the floating AI who merely shrugged. “Doesn’t seem like anything showing up.”
Leaning onto the keyboard he thought for a second, eyes glancing back to Peter who had finally rangled Mayday back into her carrier. “She was in your dimension, right?” Calling out he watched the man give a nod, attention quickly moving back to Lyla. “Check anything on Earth-616B.”
“There is one signature. Looks like,” Moving her hands across the air Lyla enlarged the small red dot. “She’s on Earth-199999.” At the mention of that specific place, both men seemed to let out a groan, Miguel right away pointing a hand toward Peter. “Since you found this out you go.”
“What? But I hate that place, they’re so- Patriotic.” Receiving a quick glare his complaining stopped, hands raising in surrender. “Fine. Fine. But you’re watching Mayday.”
“I didn’t agree to tha-” “I’ll be back!”
--
Having been wandering around for a while you couldn’t help but yawn, this universe seemed to have its fair share of action however it didn’t quite strike you as interesting- maybe a little overcrowded by heroes but you digress.
With your hands laced behind your back, you followed the park's pathway only stopping as someone had run over to you, the appearance of Peter caused you to smile and it seemed as though things were getting interesting as the man quickly explained that the leader of the aforementioned spider society would like to meet with you.
Scary yet exciting, you were inclined to accept the invite wanting to know what this whole thing was about as well as craving a little more excitement.
More than just traversing dimensions.
This time around you let Peter open up a portal, the spider suit-clad man using what seemed to have been a futuristic watch in order to do so quickly motioning for you to follow.
Upon stepping foot into the HQ building, you couldn’t help but stare in awe. As briefly mentioned all types of spider-people littered the building, and by littered you meant they were everywhere; on the ceiling, walls, swinging around on webs- everything.
“Oh, before we go see Miguel I’ll just pass you this.” Digging into the pocket of his robe Peter passed you a small blue wristband, a look of ‘I know I know’ passing over his face at the questioning look you’d given him. “It’s a day pass. Usually, we use it for other reasons but in this case, it’s so everyone knows you’re a guest here.”
At the explanation, you gave him a nod slipping on the flimsy wristband, trailing alongside the brunette as he pointed here and there practically giving you a tour all the while heading towards where you’d assumed this boss was.
“Is Miguel this guys name or..”
Noting how you trailed off he nodded right away. “Oh yeah Miguels his name, pretty scary at first but I assure you he’s just secretly a big teddy bear- kinda.”
Reassuring.
“Comforting.” Musing that out with an eye roll the two of you entered into a large room, the vast majority of it was dark in colour save for some royal blue highlights a dimly lit orange screens. Your eyes followed where Peter looked seeing a platform sitting within the center of the room, the large piece beginning to drift down. “So why am I here again.” Keeping your tone low and hoping for some light to be shed on the situation another voice other than Peters had answered.
The tone of it was gruff but clear enough to call out from the descending platform. “You’re here so we can find out if you are a threat or not.”
“A threat?” Taken aback at the implication you gestured to yourself for a moment despite the platform still lowering and despite this Miguel still making what you’d call a ‘grand appearance.’ Throughout your years of dimension jumping you had yet to actually do something illegal. “I’d like to think I’m the least threatening person you’ll meet.”
Finally, the platform had lowered enough for you to see the man standing among it. His tall stature right away shouted ‘authority’ as muscle clearly rippled beneath his neon red and dark blue suit. His face was stoic, chiseled features were framed by moderately messy brown locks all the while dark brown hues nearly stared through you, an off-red tint to the colour.
Despite how intimidating he seemed your gaze couldn’t help but drift down towards his hands seeing them holding a familiar small red-haired child like how someone would pick up a cat. The little girl's gaze lit up almost instantly upon seeing Peter, who in turn right away moved to step onto the platform once it had almost merged with the floor. Coos left the man as he right away scooped up his daughter from the other man.
“Look who it is! Look it’s your friend! Yay!” Pointing towards where you stood Peter began to rile Mayday up, the small baby giggling while they neared, her small hand inevitably reaching out to you.
Forgetting the whole purpose of the visit for a second you and Peter were only brought back when Miguel loudly cleared his throat, a disapproving look quickly crossing his face as he’d crossed his arms unamused.
Waiting for the two of you to quiet down he stepped off his platform, the souls of his suit padding against the ground as he moved to loom before you. “Back to what I was saying.” Pausing to make sure you were listening he continued. “We need to make sure you’re not an anomaly. Something that could cause a disruption in the multiverse.”
“One wrong step and you could cause it to collapse.”
Taking in what he’d said you swallowed thickly, you hadn’t really thought much of your dimension jumping, however with what he was saying you supposed they had a right to be worried.
“And how do you make sure that doesn’t happen?”
Uncrossing his arms he rested them on his hips, eyes regarding you with a mix of interest and caution. “We do some tests. Either way you’ll be here for awhile.”
This had you raising a brow in question. “What? Why?”
“Because if you decline to do some tests we’ll have to assume you are an anomaly and would have to be locked up whereas if you comply to do them we can figure out the actual answer to your…ability.” Explaining that he quirked his head to the side, gaze intently focused on you as if expecting you to decline to take the harsher route.
Glancing towards Peter as if for reassurance the man have a quick shrug followed by a short nod, his mouth forming the words ‘you’ll be fine’ as though that would persuade you.
Weighing your options your gaze moved back towards the looming man before you, lips pursed together in thought.
It wouldn’t hurt to know more about your ability…however, if it did come up that you were an ‘anomaly’ who’s to say you wouldn’t be imprisoned anyways.
“Alright,” Noting how Miguel opened his mouth to speak you cut in right away. “But I have a question.”
As if amused by your current state Miguel hummed, hand gesturing loosely in the air. “Ask away.”
“What if you do these tests and I don’t come out as an anomaly? What happens then?”
Pursing his lips at this his hands fell to his sides, mind pondering over the seemingly simple question before producing an almost equally simple answer.
“We send you home.”

If you can't tell reader's ability is heavily inspired by America from MOM (Multiverse of Madness). Low key wondered what Miguel would think of it but also- I literally need more yandere Miguel fics like PLEASE HE HAS FANGS AND CLAWS DAMN IT
Synopsis: Earth 1218, a place where superheroes and supervillains were nothing but mere fiction- however with the current rise in multidimensional travel- who's to say someone can't get stuck in another place?
Warnings: None, maybe bad writing again Idk
It’d been a long day in your opinion, work was draining, people were draining- everything was draining.
You had to fight the urge to collapse in the entryway hall of your apartment upon entering trying to roll yourself to at least change into some comfortable clothes. At least you had the rest of the week off- the plus side of taking over some extra shifts you supposed.
Quickly peeling off your uniform and tossing it across the room you dawned some random loungewear set; finding yourself quickly tucked within the corner of your couch. Eyes sleepily watching the brightly coloured movie Netflix had recently added.
“Is he voiced by Nicolas Cage?” Murmuring to yourself while watching the monochromatic character speak you let out a sigh. The newest addition to the series had come out not too long ago and in your opinion, it was one of the best movies of the year.
Sucks that you’d have to wait a year for part two, but at least there was a plethora of fan content surfing the internet. Specifically edits and art of your favorite character,
Miguel O’Hara. What a man.
Shaking your head a little at the thought of simping for a 2D character when you were less than capable of keeping a conversation with a real person had you laughing to yourself.
The picture presumably coming off as crazy if you had a roommate or anyone else staying in your apartment, however, it was just you.
Beginning to doze off once again, your eyes barely took in the sight of King pins collider on screen. The bright light of the screen illuminated your entire apartment as though a spotlight had been shining into the room.
The sound of metal clashing against something grated against your ears- you didn't recall having surround sound let alone speakers hooked up to your TV, and why was it so damn bright.
To your relief, the light began to die down, although contrary to the peace and quiet you’d have you were unexpectedly shoved back alongside your couch.
You and the large piece of furniture flipping onto its back skidding across the hardwood floors only stopping once it'd crashed into your dining room set.
Eyes wide and brain startlingly awake now compared to a few second ago you shot up only to duck as a metal pole? Weapon?
No no, it was moving it was moving a lot.
A metal claw had seemingly embedded itself into the wall, the base of it extending in an array of wires inevitably connecting to- the back of a person?
If you weren’t in a state of shock at the moment you were sure your brain could process things better- however between the metal tendrils and claws flying around your apartment and the other sudden intruder clinging to the ceiling- you didn’t think you’d ever recover.
The scuffle they had began to grow one-sided, the other individual who you haven’t quite gotten a good view seemingly winning the fight.
Well, at least you thought they were until the other swung their tendrils around once again, knocking the stranger into the wall where the dining set had been shoved into.
“I had fun really. But I must be going. Tests to run and, other heroes to deal with.” With an almost condescending wave, the perpetrator had opened what you could only describe as a bright orange doorway, their form disappeared just as quickly as the person beside you had shot up.
An irritated yell left them upon being unable to catch the doorway, their tall form standing almost eerily in your living room all the while growing increasingly more annoyed as the watch wrapped around their wrist failed to work in the way they wanted it to.
Careful this time around to peek over the flipped couch your mouth nearly fell open at the illuminated red and blue suit, the man's voice loudly filling the apartment. “Lyla! Lyla, can you hear me? Anyone- Damn it!”
Growing more aggravated he couldn’t help but begin aggressively tapping the face of his watch, only to result in nothing.
A few more low complaints left him before he sucked in a breath beginning to assess the room. The apartment was trashed thanks to his recent fight, however, that didn’t catch his attention quite as much as the sight of you peering over the edge of your flipped couch.
“You,” pointing an almost accusing finger he’d sucked in a breath trying to make his next words less intimidating despite the irritation he felt. “Where am I?”
The question was simple, something he should’ve known however circumstances proved otherwise.
Almost surprised he’d noticed your presence your mouth felt dry, however despite the way your heart thumped and your brain buzzed you answered.
“Earth. 1218 if you want specifics.”
The eyelets of his mask seemed to widen a little at that, his attention moving around the room once again falling upon the surprisingly still-playing movie. The scene where everyone had joined together to fight the main bad guy to be exact.
Unmoving from your spot you waited for his response, nerves still buzzing and palms beginning to sweat.
Remaining quiet he raised a hand rubbing at the bridge of his nose, the head of his suit gradually disappearing until untamed brown hair was revealed. “This,” trying to figure out what he wanted to ask his head turned back to you, his eyes boring into you. “Actually no. You, know me? Yes?”
Nodding your head in response it seems like that didn’t quite give him any reassurance, so instead you spoke. “You’re Miguel O’Hara, Spider-Man 2099.” Finding yourself processing things a little better you'd added a comment. “But the Across the Spider-verse version.”
Nodding his head his hands crossed over one another, the man began to pace back and forth a little in thought.
He couldn’t believe it- out of millions of universes- he was stuck in the one where Alchemax didn’t exist.
Great.
“Was that Doctor Octopus? Or I mean one of them?”
Hearing you speak up once more his gaze moved to meet yours, a hand raising to address you. “That shouldn’t concern you.”
“Ok well if it doesn’t concern me, then why is my apartment trashed and why are you standing in my living room?”
Finding it in you to chime back right after you went to stand only to duck back down behind the couch realizing that the shirt you’d happen to throw on was a printed copy of the man’s suit.
Continuing to stare down at you his jaw clenched, arms coming to overlap one another.
Miguel had decided to ignore your input for the moment speaking as though he didn’t care for property damage. “Do you have a computer I could use?”
It was a simple question however with a nod you’d hesitant stood up again, this time snagging the blanket you previously had on to hide your attire. “Yeah…it’s uh over here.”
A bit wary of passing the man your eyes casted across him, a part of you wanting to engrave each detail into your mind while another part still had a tough time dealing with the situation.
He was so much taller than you’d thought- buffer too and much much more intimidating.
Following with quiet steps Miguel took in the rest of your apartment- quaint really. A little clutter here and there but he supposed it just gave the place some character.
“It’s a bit old but…” “This’ll be fine.” Cutting in Miguel had stepped in through the doorway you held open, large form sticking out like a sore thumb against the small guest room where you’d stuck a computer and desk, trying your best at making an office.
“Password is 2099.” At this point, you could feel exhaustion begin to creep in once more, the adrenaline felt earlier wearing down. “If you need anything I guess just uh call?”
You really should’ve thought everything out a little more, however, perhaps this was some strange dream and you’d really just passed out at work.
Either way, you were certain things were going to be fine by tomorrow morning.
---
Waking up and walking towards the main area of your apartment you barely concealed a yawn, tired eyes briefly drifting across the room seeing that the couch was in its usual spot, as was the rest of your furniture.
However, despite wanting to believe everything was a figment of your imagination- the dents in the wall and the man currently staring out the window told you otherwise. From the neck down his suit seemed to still be present, while his face remained free of the costume.
“Morning?” Finding yourself growing nervous once you’d come to the acceptance of a fictional character standing within your apartment, you remained observing him from a distance, sock-clad feet shuffling towards the kitchen where you tapped your fingers among the counter. “Did you want like a coffee or something?”
Taking in a deep breath Miguel's gaze looked towards where you stood through the reflection in the window, eyes sharp yet his form was less ridged than it was the night prior. “How likely is it that I get recognized here.”
The question was simple, something he could guess the answer to given the circumstances however it didn’t exactly hurt to get an outsider's perspective. He’d spend nearly the entire night looking into resources that could possibly help only to come up upon practically nothing.
He was basically on his own here.
Having made a fresh pot of coffee you’d poured two mugs in case the man decided he wanted something, your hands coming to curve around your own as you pondered over the question. Eyes trailing across his back for a second finding that the cartoony and animated look he had yesterday didn’t seem to stick and that he appeared more lifelike- or well, human-like in the sense that someone could just think he was a cosplayer or something along those lines.
“I wouldn’t say that likely?” Watching him turn around from his spot, the man regarded you with an inquisitive gaze, one that practically told you he was trying to gauge what kind of a person you were. “But don’t you have to get back to- you know?”
Seeing the way he noted the implication you were a little surprised as the man began nearing, the wrist that his watch had been wrapped around being lifted above the counter in clear view for you to see. “Do you see this?” With his other hand, he motioned towards what appeared to have been some sort of rust, the corner of the glass screen beginning to become chipped away. “Nanobots. They’re going to keep eating the exterior and interior until nothing is left.”
Now, there was a part of him that didn’t really want to divulge in any information with you- a part of his brain feeling like he should be guarded instead knowing that you knew more about him then he did about you.
It rubbed him the wrong way- But, it was also a common thing in this universe, so he couldn’t fault you there. If he wanted to get back and deal with things he’d have to make a new watch entirely from scratch, and if he had to do that he needed someone who knew their way around considering he was now pretty much left with only the bare minimum of information around your world.
Earth 1218 wasn’t particularly a place he wanted to be stuck in nor really pay attention to. A fault on his end he will admit.
“So? What are you planning to do?” Hesitant to ask more questions you tried to read the blank look set out across his face, the man’s brows faintly furrowing all the while he’d ended up silently accepting the other mug of coffee you’d made.
A small win in your books.
“I need to build a new one.” Answering simply he stared over the rim of the mug as he took a sip, brown hues boring into your skull as if tempting you to speak.
“And what is your plan there?”
At this point it’s not like telling you wouldn’t hurt, heroes didn’t exist in your world and neither did villains so he supposed the random civilian whose apartment he’d landed in at least deserved at least some explanation.
“Since the portal opened up in your apartment the interdimensional specks are still present here, they can be utilized to open a new doorway through a catalyst where one will open temporarily back to where the original one had opened up- which was my dimension.” Quickly explaining that he finished looking over your slightly confused look before letting out a sigh, the mug briefly being set onto the counter.
“When you start a barbeque you turn on the propane first right?” You gave a nod and he continued, “Then you use the sparker to light the propane.” He paused letting you absorb his example, the man right after using his hands to gesture around as if he were talking to a child. “The propane is like the specks and the catalyst is the sparker.”
“Do the specks ever leave?”
“I don’t know,” Finding that he himself didn’t have an answer to that he let out a breath, hand beginning to tap along the countertop.
“But this is why I need to move fast.”
---
Now, it wasn’t that you didn't want to help Miguel- quite the contrary you were elated to have been able to help him. However, he still was one of your biggest fictional crushes and currently, you’d both been crammed within the confines of your small car. A glimmer of regret sparked across your expression upon realizing how strange the music on your phone was as well as how much of a fan you actually were.
So embarrassing.
Despite your clearly tense form, he seemed rather calm. Eyes taking in as much as they could all the while running his fingers across the civilian clothes he’d swapped into. He trusted your reassurance of people not being able to recognize him, the small mirror within your apartment becoming an item of interest as he noted the change in his appearance.
It was very strange.
“So do you like, have a mental list of what you need? Or are we just going to walk in blind?” Willing yourself to break the silence you’d pulled into the parking lot of a department store, something you assumed would have at least some of the things that Miguel would need.
“I have a general idea. You don’t have to worry about it.”
“Great.” Finding yourself still sitting in the car despite having parked it you watched Miguel slip out through your peripheral, the man’s tall frame stepping away from the car only to pause.
Was…wait, was he waiting for you?
As if realizing this, you scrambled to collect your things quickly slipping out of the car and locking it behind you. Your shoes tapped against the cement as you’d caught up with the brunette coming to walk an arm's length away.
Stepping into the store you’d moved to grab a cart, arms folding over the handles as you trailed behind your newly three-dimensional companion. His sharp gaze scanning each and everything occasionally seeing something of interest into the cart.
“What is the most recent thing that was invented here?” Glancing back at where you leisurely strolled behind him Miguel watched as his voice had caused you to jump slightly, attention trailing away from whatever was on your mind.
“Probably VR? That’s I think the most recent thing. No flying cars or anything like that here- too much of a liability really if you think about it. People are stupid.”
Unsure of what to really take from that answer he couldn’t help but let out a low snort, head shaking from one side to the other in a sort of agreement towards your ‘people are stupid’ bit.
Conversation after that seemed to come a bit easier, the topic ranging from either of you asking a question to the other or just something else mundane.
It wasn’t really much longer till the two of you were back in your apartment, bags in hand filled with miscellaneous items that may or may not help with Miguel's current situation. It didn’t take long for both of you to part; you mentioned how you were going to patch up the holes left in the wall and Miguel just motioning towards your office which at this point had become his temporary residence.
At least for the time being. Only time would tell how long he would be stuck there.
---
“A hologram, it’s a hologram.”
“No, it’s UMF, not a hologram. Unstable Molecule Fabric.”
“But is it actually fabric? I haven't read the comics.” Starring almost too intently down at Miguel's arm that was still clad in his suit you spared him a glance, the tips of your ears nearly burning off at the ‘are you kidding?’ look he’d given.
“If it were fabric I’d tear through it anytime I needed to use these.” Raising his hand small claw-like spikes rose from the pads of his fingers, something you’d nearly forgotten alongside the fact he had fangs.
It’d been about three days since his initial appearance, and a watch prototype was steadily being made however despite the many protests on his end you were able to convince the man to take a break here and there.
Just like a regular person he still needed to eat and sleep and whatnot, and with nobody else there to remind him- namely Lyla, you were the only person left.
He was aggravated about it when you’d first done it, however, the retort of ‘making up for the damage to my apartment’ was what kept his annoyance at bay- he did feel bad at this point for the amount of damage that was caused despite not really caring when it first happened.
You’d been quite helpful- not in the same sense as another spider-person or Lyla but in the sense of a personified conscience.
That and he found it amusing sometimes how you’d often try to hide whatever spider-themed merchandise you had. The look of shock and embarrassment was written across your face when he’d found a mug with the same design as his mask was nearly priceless.
In a comedic sense of course- you were, entertaining.
As if snapping back to reality he retracted the claws, shaking his head a bit-Focus. “I need to get back to working on the device.”
“Alright. You know where to find me if you need me.” Musing that out knowing that he was eager to get back to work you watched him spare you a nod, form disappearing back into the hallway where you’d only see him emerge from once every few hours.
If that guy could work himself to death you’d bet he would.
---
Emerging from the room he’d been in Miguel let out a breath, his watch was still gradually deteriorating while the watch he’d been working on seemed at least a quarter of the way done-there were so many things he still had to do, and had to fix before he could even try and open up a gate.
Raising a hand and running it through his hair he let out a breath, eyes taking a moment to adjust to the lack of light in the apartment spotting the gentle glow of the living room TV. Glancing towards the end of the hall where your room had been he could see that the door was open and nobody was inside leading him to assume you’d been curled up on the couch as he’d noted you often did.
There were a few things you did that he found himself unwillingly taking note of. One of the few being how you always nestled yourself into the very corner of the couch when watching a show or movie, or- as of recently how whenever you brewed coffee or tea that you’d made a second cup.
Quietly trekking through the hallway and into the main room another sigh left him upon seeing the way you’d fallen asleep, three thoughts beginning to conflict one another within the confines of his brain as he’d waited to see if you were indeed asleep.
Which you were.
Muttering under his breath in another language he trailed a little closer; on one hand he should just wake you up and remind you of the last time you’d fallen asleep on the couch and had complained for the whole day. However on another hand, he felt like the sight brought some comfort he hadn’t felt in a long time.
Most of the interaction with you brought some sort of strange comfort- something he tried his damnedest to ignore in favor of dealing with his current circumstances. He knew Lyla for sure would be either teasing or harping on him for whatever reason.
Weighing all his options he seemed to just give in, the man's frame looming before you as he’d leaned down to stick his arms under your curled-up frame, the blanket you had coming along as he’d hauled you up silently.
What was he thinking-
A low hum in what he could only describe as content left you, cheek leaning to the side against him as he’d marched down the hall coming to lean over the surface of your bed where he set you down. Gaze softening only a little as he’d puffed out a breath through his nose.
“Stop it O’Hara.” Remarking that to himself he’d turned on his heel, head shaking from side to side.
“You have your priorities.”
---
Waking up nestled within the warm covers of your bed wasn’t the first thing that roused you from sleep- no no, the thing that roused you was the mug currently being held in front of your sleeping form. Mouth dry and hair a mess.
“Morning.”
Blinking a few times at the greeting you stared up at Miguel in suspicion, heart thumping softly at how the morning sun that’d crept through your curtains illuminated his defined features.
“Did you- is the watch finished?” Noting how he donned civilian clothes instead of his suit you blinked a few more times trying to figure out why there was this feeling of missing something.
“Almost.” Answering easily he moved to lean against the side of your doorframe, brown hues regarding you with a mix of undecipherable emotions. “Your neighbour came knocking on your door this morning.”
Having taken a sip from your mug you nearly choked at what he’d said, knowing that no matter which neighbour it was that they were nosy as hell.
“And you didn’t come get me? What did they want?”
At that, you swore you could see the edge of his lip twitch up, shoulder pushing off the doorframe. “She said to keep it quiet. There's kids in the building.”
Setting your drink to the side you flung the covers of your bed over your face, a sort of muffled groan coming out. That was so embarrassing they must’ve gotten the wrong impression by all the noise when the fight had happened- oh god that- as if coming to a realization you flung the sheets back down. “And what did you say?!”
“I apologized,” In the moment he wasn’t sure what exactly to say, attention focused on how you were nearly at the edge of your seat in anticipation awaiting the response- face faintly flushed. “And told her we’d keep it down.”
Why did he say that? He wasn’t sure, it was out of character a bit but the reaction it got out of you made the response all the better.
Maybe, just maybe it wouldn’t hurt to get to know you properly.
---
As he’d mentioned the watch was finished within a few days. The device now sitting silently ontop of the desk; the plan of using it later being written off for the time being.
In those days you’d taken note of the slight banter that’d happen between yourself and Miguel. Things seemingly becoming more friendly despite the situation and you couldn’t help but be more than enthused about it.
“You want to see some of my favourite places?” Taken aback by the request you stated at him in a mix between disbelief and surprise. “I thought you had to go back as soon as possible?”
“I do, but the window to open a gate is open better around the time it was last time- so late in the evening.”
Whether that was an excuse or not was up to you to discern.
Pursing your lips together you continued to stare at him inquisitively. “Ok well, uh we could go check out this market? I don’t know how good it is now since I haven’t been able to go in years.”
“If that’s where you’d like to go.”
Side eyeing him once more you nodded lightly, beginning to round up what you needed before the two of you had quickly set off.
The cars atmosphere quiet until he’d spoken. “When all this first happened. What did you think?”
Perhaps it was the inevitability of him having to leave that spurred the question on or had led him to become more open- but nonetheless the question was something he’d grown curious about.
When you’d first met he could tell you were in a state of shock, whether from the fight or from his appearance didn’t matter. Your answers were thought out and yet he recalled how you’d walked around him at a distance, keeping that distance until later on. Disbelief is what he chalked it up to however he was also partially to blame on the distance.
“Well, I thought I was crazy- of course who wouldn’t. I thought maybe it was some weird vivid dream.” Your fingers began to tap softly against the steering wheel. “Also you’re like really intimidating, you know that?”
“So I’ve been told.”
“Self awareness is the key to happiness.” Pulling into the parking lot outside of where the little market was you quickly popped out, excitement gradually brewing within you.
Shaking his head he himself stepped out of the car, moving to trail behind you as you begun maneuvering through the varying stalls. Little hand carved and hand made trinkets covered each table, the person standing behind sparing those who’d passed by a kind smile.
It was so calm over here- in this world. Compared to really anything he had to deal with.
“Miguel-“ Brown hues warmly trailed towards where you had emerged from, the man unknowingly having spaced out for a second enough for you to disappeared and come back. “Give me your hand.”
“Why?”
“Just- hold it out for me come on, this is your last day here.” Putting your own had up and trying to coax him to do the same you quickly moved to lace your hand with his once he’d complied, your other hand moving a bracelet from your wrist across your hands onto his.
“There.” Pulling your hand back your face flushed a little at the stoic look he had, eyes fixed on the small accessory. “I tried to pick something that sits flat for you and doesn’t look particularly flashy.”
As you’d mentioned it wasn’t particularly flashy, the design of it was just a collection of chevrons wrapping around the length of his wrist made up of some sort of grey stone.
Forcing a cough into his hand his face turned to the side. “Thank you.”
That small show of gratitude nearly had you bouncing off the ground. A smile that could probably rival the sun bloomed across your face.
“I’m glad you like it, it’s just a little something to remind me by.”
“You’re not that immemorable.”
It seemed like a slight changing of tide after that, the both of your resuming your little stroll through the stalls bringing up some meaningless conversation.
It felt like, now that everything was coming to an end you’d never felt more at home. Thinking back on it you quite enjoyed Miguel’s company, not just in the ‘you were my fictional crush kind of way’ but in the way that a domestic couple would- as much as you wouldn’t say that out loud.
That sort of companionship was something your heart yearned for however it just showed you that fate was a cruel thing- maybe this was your canon event.
Reaching the unattainable and being doomed to fall.
—-
“And you’re sure this won’t blow up my apartment or something?”
“It might?”
“That is not comforting at all.” Rolling your eyes in return at his answer you remained slightly ducked behind the couch while Miguel stood where he first did when he first arrived.
The watch he previously wore was stripped away, the corroded metal being too far gone to savage and in its place was the missmash of parts that made up what you could only assume was the new one.
Watching him tap a few things onto it you couldn’t help but call out, “Miguel,” Turning briefly to show you had his attention you continued. “Thanks.”
“For?”
Your lips curled into a faint smile, “not being a product of my psychosis.”
His lips quirked up at this, head shaking as a low airy laugh left him. A sort of melancholic look crossing his face as he tapped a few more things among his watch, a spark of orange gradually beginning to grow until a portal had opened up. “See you around (Y/N).”
Nodding his way you couldn’t help but wish the portal hadn’t opened up in the frist place- but it did and just as quickly as it’d opened it closed leaving you on your own.
An almost bitter laugh leaving your lips.
---
Weeks later you found yourself snuggled into the comfort of your bed, hand scrolling aimlessly across some edits. The sound of your phone barely did much in comparison to the quiet thrum of your apparement.
Despite knowing you’d be coming home to an empty apartment you couldn’t help but think deep in your heart that something might be different.
Nodding off a little your eyes barely took note of the light shining into your livingroom, the orange glow disappearing quickly.
Your brows furrowed at this, phone clutched tightly within your hand as you strained your ears to listen for anything.
Nothing.
Slipping out from beneath the safety of your blankets your feet quietly padded their way down the hall, eyes struggling to adjust to the dark. Your hand followed the length of the wall, heart rate gradually beginning to speed up as you willed yourself to look into the livingroom.
Nothing.
Letting out a breath you tensed quickly as something had pressed against your eyes, your own hands reactively reaching up finding them wrapping around someone’s wrists. Their large hands being the reason for your current lack of vision.
The feeling of someone leaning over your shoulder had caused your nerves to spike, however once their spoke did your nerves spike for a different reason.
Synopsis: Peter needs a babysitter for the evening and who better to ask than you and Miguel?
Warnings: Idk baby fever maybe, this is kinda cute, got my heart melt a little
Sitting on one of the brightly illuminated chairs you spun in place absentmindedly, nothing particular in mind as you'd only really been there to keep Miguel company. The man having been working all day without taking any sort of break- despite you bothering him about taking at least one.
‘This can't wait it has to be done as soon as possible’ was always the answer- something you and Lyla both agreed was a bit much but what could you do besides just sit there and hope your presence someone eased the man’s nerves.
“Incoming Spider-Personel.” Lyla’s voice came and went quickly as the platform began it’s slow dramatic descent, the platform barely nearing the floor when a small figure had fallen from the ceiling- your spider sense quickly kicking in as you’d shot a web catching the small redhead; your lips curling into a smile right away.
“May May! Hi sweetie! How are you?” Cooing your words at the small child she giggled in response, her small hands making grabby hands towards where Miguel stood, drawing out a laugh from you. “No no honey Miguel’s a little busy.”
Another person had joined the platform soon after Mayday had, Peter's apologetic face coming quickly into view as he began talking to you as opposed to your clearly annoyed partner. “Sorry for dropping by so unexpectedly but I have a favour to ask.”
Propping Mayday onto your hip you motioned for the man to continue, his next set of words enticing a huff in annoyance from Miguel.
“Well, I was wondering if you could watch Mayday for the evening, wife and I wanted to have a sort of date night and you know finding a babysitter for a baby that can crawl on walls- uh that might but be easy.”
Right away understanding what he was asking your lips curled into a warm smile, “Oh yeah that’s not a problem, Miguel and I have no problem taking care of this little spiderling.” Cooing a little once again towards the girl you pinched her nose softly, a quick side eye following suit as you’d taken note of how Miguel had turned to stare.
The man surely wanting to object, but choosing to bite his tongue instead.
You were a stubborn one.
“Really? Aw thanks a mil, I’ll be sure to repay you guys when we get back.” Moving to squish his daughter's face into his hands and press a quick kiss to her forehead Peter gave you a look of gratitude, his fatherlike stare coming down to rest back onto his daughter. “Uh ok her bedtime is six o’clock, she doesn’t like broccoli and her favorite show is the bouncing fruits on youtube. If there are any issues don’t hesitate to text me.”
“Yes yes of course, now go enjoy your time with your wife.” Using your free hand you shooed the man away, shaking your head with a soft smile only to roll your eyes at the sound of a huff beside you. Your attention now fully on Miguel waiting to hear what he had to say.
“Miguel and I have no problem? I didn’t agree to babysit.” Repeating what you’d said to Peter he let out a breath, hand raising to run through his hair while his gaze pulled away from the computer screens to focus on where you stood.
The sharpness of them softening a little at the sight of Mayday's bright smile as well as the way you held the girl.
“Come on Miguel, it’ll just be this once.” Shifting Mayday into your hands you held her out towards the man bringing her back so that her face was right beside your own. “And how can you say no to these faces?”
Taking in a breath he observed the way you puffed out your cheeks, lips pursing out a bit all the while Mayday outstretched her arms- trying to grab at him.
“Fine. Lyla, save the progress and close up the computers.”
“Roger that boss.”
Waiting for the screens to close down Miguel let out yet another sigh, hand motioning towards you and Mayday. “Come on.”
Following right away a victorious smile couldn’t help but cross your lips, something the small girl right away took note of by patting your cheek with her little palm.
She was so cute.
---
Having brought Mayday back to yours and Miguel's shared apartment you right away brought out some drawing supplies- or well more like a few highlighters and pens that the small girl seemed entertained enough with.
Standing over the kitchen sink to wash a few of the dishes you’d used to give Mayday a snack, your gaze moved toward Miguel. The man having been leaning against the counter on the opposite side of where you were, head tilted to the side and attention focused on the small redhead.
“Go and sit down with her.”
At the soft call of your voice, his head turned in order to face you, the hardened expression he typically wore cracking the slightest bit. “What?”
“Go sit down with her and draw or play a game, something like that.”
Wanting to object right away at what you were implying the look you’d given him merely drew out a defeated sigh, his arms falling from the counter and with heavy steps, he neared the table planting himself into the seat across from hers.
After a minute or two of sitting with her, you noticed how he spoke to the child; soft and almost playful, a pencil had been clasped between his fingers as the redhead had convinced him to draw her a cat.
It warmed your heart to see Miguel like this, you two had been together for quite some time now but you knew how much he hesitated about being around Peter's daughter- that much was clear from day one. Although despite that hesitance he never seemed to let her fall, let her hurt herself, etcetera.
It was most certainly the paternal instinct he had tried to suppress.
You found it endearing.
Getting pulled out of your thoughts by a gentle tug at your pant leg you turned off the sink, eyes trailing down towards the little girl who called for your attention.
Smiling gently down at her you noted how her hands were smudged with pencil lead, a soft laugh leaving you as you leaned down to pick her up. “Your hands are all dirty.” Musing that out you turned the water back of softly pulling her hands into the stream where you then gently washed her hands.
Coming back from the table himself Miguel watched what you were doing, a soft smile gracing his lips as he held his own hands up. “My hands are dirty, can you wash them too?” He laughed at the comment, some more following as you’d taken Mayday's hand using it to splash some water at him.
Mayday giggled at this, the little girl practically bouncing in place within your hold.
So cute.
---
“You suck at braiding hair.”
An offended gasp left your lips at Miguel's comment, hear tilting over the couch to face where he leaned over the back of it, hand under his chin and a slight quirk to his lips.
“You’re so mean, why don’t you do her hair then? Huh?” Having Mayday currently sitting in front of you, you gestured with the hairbrush toward the girl's unruly red locks. Her childish giggles filled the room quickly upon being raised into the air being handed towards your partner as he rounded the couch.
“Fine, I will,” Taking her from your hands he sat down much like you had, lips still curled into a small smile as he spoke confidently. “Watch and learn Hermosa.”
Rolling your eyes at the comment you took his previous place leaning over the couch, eyes watching the way he occasionally brushed Mayday's hair back parting it into two sections. It seemed almost routinely how he worked so effortlessly with her hair, making sure he kept her small hands busy with a scrunchie.
Two neat French braids curled down the girl's head, some small hair clips you’d found around the apartment dotting her hair as well.
“See? What did I tell you.” Leaning back against the couch Miguel stared up at you, his gaze was warm, lips still curled into a gentle smile upon seeing how you reflected the look.
“Fine fine. You did a good job, Miguel,” Leaning forward a little you have the tip of his nose a quick peck seeing as that was all you could reach. “Maybe I should get you to do my hair one of these days.”
He smiled triumphantly at that, head returning down to the girl sitting before him, hands coming to lift her off the ground and into the air almost playfully.
Watching from your spot between the kitchen and living room you laughed softly, eyes shining with pure adoration as this was a side of Miguel many- even yourself sometimes- didn’t get the opportunity to see.
A tingle in the back of your mind had you gradually moving towards the front door, hand reaching for the handle to swing it open just enough to stop Peter’s hand from knocking.
Holding up a finger for him to remain quiet you brought him into the apartment, the two left in the living room still goofing off until Mayday’s gaze fell upon her dad. The girl squawking out in excitement as Miguel set her down onto the floor.
“There’s my girl! Did you have fun! Looks like you did, looks like you did! Aw look at your hair too.” Right away beginning to coo at her Peter swiped her off the ground, kissing were peppered across her face in an instant before his attention returned towards the two of you. “Thank you guys so much for watching her, I really owe you one.”
Having moved to stand beside Miguel you smiled happily at Peter, “It was no problem, she was such a delight and if you ever need someone to watch her again I’m sure we have no problem.” Your hand moved to take Miguels, the man responding with a gentle hum and nod.
Sparing Mayday a final wave you watched the pair leave, your hand faintly tugging away from Miguels before he’d just come to wrap you in a hug; arms bunding around your waist while his chin came to rest on your shoulder.
“Gonna miss the little spider-girl?” Questioning him softly you tilted your head to rest it light on his, hand coming up to comb your fingers through his hair.
With a low hum he seemed to nuzzle into you a little, eyes glancing to the side at your expression. “Maybe,” He began swaying a little, fingers rubbing circles into the shirt you wore, “But this got me thinking.”
“Ok, thinking about what?”
“Well,” Pulling away a little to properly look down at you he seemed to think over what he was going to say, mind going a mile a minute. “What if, we maybe…” His eyes moved towards the door where Peter and Mayday had left through, the rest of his question being implied.
Staring up at him your lips curved into a smile once again, hopping up onto your tiptoes to peck him on the lips quickly.
Synopsis: You're spider-person with something to deal with in your own dimension- no it's not a villain, but something tamer. Miguel hasn't seen you around in a while and decides to check-in.
Warnings: None (cringe maybe but we'll see)
-
It’s been too long.
A part of you felt bad honestly- being a part of such a big organization yet barely being around. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to help out, it was just that things in your own universe were becoming more hectic- busy even and not in the stereotypical ‘villain attack’ kind of way.
The sound of the radio flooded the room with whatever music had been playing at the time, varying pans of different foods sizzled across the stovetop of the sound of water splashing came from the next room over.
“I’m coming! I’m coming!” Calling out towards the bathroom you quickly lowered the heat of everything on the stove briefly wiping your hands across a towel.
A slight tingly crept up your back that something would be thrown your way upon entering the bathroom a faint laugh left your lips upon dodging the rubber duck, your lips curling into a smile.
Soft giggles fluttered from the culprit whom you’d quickly cleaned up before chiding in a reminder of what time it was.
Stepping back into the main room the hairs on the back of your neck tingled softly, hand instinctively flicking up to shoot a brightly coloured web- something that the intruder had sidestepped effortlessly.
Seeing the dark blue and neon red suit, your face instantly turned apologetic, the hand you’d raised to fire the web dropping to your side quickly. “Ah sorry about that I didn’t know you were coming by.”
Noting the state of the apartment you spared the man a sheepish smile, webs firing away to quickly pick up some stray blankets, towels, and toys. “If I knew you were coming I’d have cleaned up a bit.”
“Don’t worry about it.” The head of his suit deactivated quickly, the man’s gaze following you as you continued to scurry around. “Jess mentioned how you’d been absent from HQ for a while. Thought I’d drop in.”
Shooting a side glance towards the man you quickly drew your gaze away. It was surprising to you that the big boss had decided to drop in on lil ol you, especially considering you didn’t recall having any notable conversations with him apart from the occasional partnership on a mission.
However, It wasn’t that you didn’t like him- quite the contrary you found him quite the looker-and would even admit to having a moderately large crush on the man- however his appearance still confused you.
“Oh, we’ll that’s nice of her- or well you.” Unsure of how to go about the situation exactly you straightened out standing tall, your form trying to seem professional despite the collection of things in your arms. “But is there uh anything else you needed?”
Miguel’s gaze lingered across your form once more, he didn’t quite have an answer to your question- why had he come in the first place? It wasn’t like he was someone to typically drop in and check up on others.
Was it because of the organization? Or was it something else?
“Just wanted to also ask why you’ve been absent as well, you’re one of the more reliable ones so I can’t help but be curious.” He couldn’t help but begin to gingerly step around the apartment, eyes taking in the little Knick knacks and trinkets that littered the place as if trying to understand you without speaking.
It was no secret to Jess and Peter that the brunette had taken a liking to one of the newest recruits. Obvious and in plain sight is what they’d said- which indirectly had led to the man being avoidant in conversations.
He had his own life and you had yours. That should’ve been the end of it.
But there was always just that twinge of comfort he felt whenever you’d popped in; he wanted so desperately to talk to you- however, doing so he knew would ultimately lead to the pair being correct in their assumptions.
Which, they totally might’ve been in the first place but he’d never admit that.
Absolutely not, his pride would never allow it.
But, that mindset seemed to pass over as time drifted by and he found himself at least trying- now whether it was the bare minimum or not was a different story. What mattered was that an attempt was made- a failed attempt but an attempt nonetheless.
“Oh well, sorry about that- things have just been bu-“ Halting in what you were beginning to say you’d flashed Miguel another sheepish smile as a noise practically stole your attention, raising your hand up to give him a ‘one second’ gesture as you’d trailed towards another room.
Remaining focused on the doorway you’d disappeared into the man was a tad bit surprised when a small child had come crawling out. Their little form was clad in a onesie that seemed to mimic the suit you often wore; albeit a bit too big.
Large (e/c) eyes stared up at him from the floor, small mouth opening and closing like a fish before the girl's mouth opened in a series of unrecognizable noises, her small chubby hand patting at Miguel’s suit-clad leg using it as some sort of leverage to stand.
With a gradually embarrassing expression, you moved towards the child ready to carry her, only really pausing once Miguel had motioned towards the stove. “Somethings burning.” Watching the way you jumped in place and quickly raced toward the stove his gaze drifted back towards the child.
Stoic face softened the barest amount once he’d begun to take in the resemblance the little girl had to you.
There was a deep part of his heart that ached at the sight of the child, something that coincided with the things he had experienced. However, there was something almost endearing in the way the small girl clung to his leg babbling incoherently.
“Didn’t know you had a kid.” It was short, a bit harsher than how he originally wanted to say it, however, it was already said and done. Hoping you’d understand his circumstance; especially considering it was true. He was never made aware of this small child, but it wasn’t like you talked about her as frequently as Peter did about Mayday nor did you bring her to HQ like the aforementioned brunette.
Peering over your shoulder you answer quickly, eyes taking in the stiff man and small child. “Not a lot do, she’s about 7 months now.”
“Didn’t want to leave her with a babysitter all the time, so…” trailing off it seemed like he understood the implications of your words, brow quirking as a question popped into his head.
“Dad not in the picture?”
“He passed. Though he was a deadbeat anyways. Not that having a vigilante as a mom is any better.”
Nodding as if he understood Miguel’s attention drifted back to the little girl. The small child had changed her mind from trying to stand instead opting to bring over varying toys to shove into his hands despite the clear one-sided ness of the action.
Seeing the way your gaze softened upon landing on your daughter he could only sigh, the tall man beginning to crouch down until he was eye to eye with the little girl.
His hand reached out to pat the girl's head, fingers ruffling up the locks before he rose back up. “I understand.”
Dividing his attention between you and your child he let out a sigh. “I’ll let Jess know you’re doing fine and not to worry.” Beginning to type into his watch he paused as you spoke.
“Hey uh,” twisting in place to face where he stood you sucked in a breath quickly continuing. “Why don’t you stay and have something to eat? I think I made too much.”
“And…I’ve heard through the grapevine that you tend to skip out on eating.”
Taking a moment to ponder over what you’d said he glanced from you towards your daughter, expression unreadable as he considered it eventually letting out a low sigh the man’s lips twitching, the corners of them barely quirking up before disappearing almost as quickly as it came.
“Well, I suppose I can spare a few.”
“It’s not like there’s not another Spider-Man to take care of things for the time being.”

Miguel owns my heart- I love him SM (Also he may be like very OOC but I don't care <3 sue me)
Anyways might write some more Miguel oneshots <3 stay tuned- I made this account to hide from my brother :)
Synopsis: You find yourself getting sick, how does Miguel react?
Warnings: None
It started with a simple tickle in the back of your throat, then a few sneezes, some coughs here and there- until eventually everything hit you at once.
The fluctuating temperature of your body was the easiest to hide, as were the coughing and sneezing fits you had because you could merely pass those off as allergies
It was when your throat had begun to itch and when your voice began to sound like a squeaky hinge did Miguel finally take notice
You’d tried your damnest not to worry him- knowing how busy he was with his duties; but that was a fault in itself
Once he’d notices your lack of conversation Miguel rounded the center island of your shared apartment, hand raising to rest on your forhead despite your quiet protests
“Ay Dios mio- you’re burning up.” Pressing the back of his hand against your cheek to check once again he let out a breath, eyes taking in the sort of kicked puppy look your expression held. “How long have you been like this?”
Despite the soreness in your throat you croaked out an answer, knowing right away he’d be upset with any amount of time. “A week…”
“A week?” He seemed offended for a second, an almost exasperated look crossing his face as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Because…you were busy and I didn’t want to bother you.” Trailing off you pulled the cardigan you wore a little closer to yourself
Shaking his head softly at this Miguel right away guided you back to your shared room- the man insisting that you stay in bed and rest all the while he takes care of things
He’d take the day off (Even if Lyla would pester him about it- you were equally as important)
Would bring you an ice pack to bring your temperature back down and would run you a nice bath as well (Would most definitely pick out a set of new PJ’s for you as well as some furry socks insisting that before you put them on that you’d put menthol rub on the soles of your feet- he’d ignore your laughing here insisting that it worked despite how strange it sounded)
Once you were back in bed he’d bring over some sore throat tea and some medication for you to take (He’d set a timer on his phone to make sure you take it periodically)
Water with a slice of lemon in it would always be on the nightstand (Another thing he mentioned that his parents did for him when he was young)
Miguel didn’t cook often- but you bet your ass he would whip out some hidden tucked away family cook book and whip together a nice and warm pot of caldo de pollo to cure your sickness
Honestly, the best damn soup you’ve ever had
He’d check your temperature any chance he could and would let out a satisfied hum as it seemed to drop from its earlier inferno
“Get some sleep mi vida- you’ll feel better in the morning.” Making sure the blankets were pulled up to your chin Miguel leaned forward to plant a gentle kiss on your forehead, the man following it up with one of the bridge of your nose

Caldo de pollo is literally so good- if yall have never tried it- go try some rn
Synopsis: What happens when you're stuck in another dimension with someone calling you their mom and someone else calling you their wife? You certainly recognized him- but he wasn't your Miguel.
Warnings: None, honestly had no clue where this was going Tbh
Getting spit out of the portal in some random alleyway wasn’t exactly ideal-but worse things have happened, such as the damage done to your dimensional travel watch.
For them being designed by scientists they weren’t as durable as you’d hoped, the item currently glitching out hindering your ability to open a portal and or contact anyone.
Great.
With a disgruntled sigh your mask deactivated, the nanotech retreating away. The rest of your suit quickly shifted into civilian clothes, your fingers still trying feebaly to activate something.
At least you weren’t glitching out. That was the only plus side you could see at the moment besides having been thrown into a vacant alleyway- you didn’t even know what dimension you’d landed in.
Grumbling some more under your breath you turned on your heel, regardless of whether or not you were stranded there had to be something you could do- to either get back or get into contact with someone who could then possibly bring you back.
Stepping out of the alleyway your eyes took in the city; it was reminiscent of classic New York, no flying cars, futuristic outfits, people looked relatively normal- you’d say you ended up somewhere similar to Peters or Gwens dimension.
Continuing to wonder around you’d occasionally peer down at your watch, hope flickering like a flame whenever a phantom vibration happened only for that feeling to become snuffed out as nothing new flashed across the screen.
It was times like this where you’d regretted not asking to partner up- especially when there were a few who’d often offer their assistance.
You could handle it, was always the answer you gave then.
So much for that.
Not only was there an anomaly running around in some other dimension but you were stuck here, for an undefined amount of time.
Lovely.
Finding yourself coming across a store that sold TV’s your eyes scanned across the lit screen, the news currently covering what was described as ‘a vigilante hero’- or what you were more familiar with, ‘a spider variant.’
Who it was? You dodn’t know, nor did you recognize leading you to assume they weren’t appart of the spider-society- little bit of a bummer there seeing as you couldn’t just find them for help. Not like you knew where they were anyways.
The hairs on the back of your neck raised.
“Mom!” Your head twisted to the side at the sound of a childs voice, heart skipping a beat for a second as a small form quickly bounded your way. The little girls arms quickly moving to wind around you all the while her face pressed into the stomach of your sweater. “We thought you were working today?”
Her head tilted up, (E/C) hues staring wonderously up at you while unruly brown locks surrounded her tanned face. There was something about her that had your brain buzzing, something familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time.
Hovering your hands over the girls back you felt unsure of what to do; clearly there was a variant of yourself in this dimension that had a kid and now that kid is currently mistaking you for them.
“Uh I was, but they let me off early.” Finally deciding to speak you let out an awkward laugh, one hand moving to pat the girls shoulder gently.
Her expression seemed to lighten up at your words, the little girl beginning to bounce in place nearly shaking you back and forth from the motion. “Really? Then that means you can come to the part with us!”
Us?
“Ella, give your mom some space.”
Your head tilted up at the new yet familiar voice, eyes following the tall frame of a familiar brunette. His frame dawned a simple pair of jeans and hoodie, eyes appearing more brown than the wine tinted ones you were usually familiar with; extended canines missing from the mans smile.
Your heart fluttered lightly, mind almost mistaking this man as the one you were close with- however that was anything but the truth.
He was Miguel but he wasn’t the Miguel you knew.
The girl, or Ella as you’ve come to learn her name pulled away. Lips still pulled into a gleeful smile as she instead moved to grasp your hand in her own. The action just as quick as the man nearing enough to throw an arm over your shoulder, lips pressing a quick peck to your cheek despite the clear way your shoulder’s tensed up.
Noting this he passed you a worries glance, hand squeezing your shoulder softly in an almost reassuring manner, gradually pulling you and Ella along the sidewalk. “Everything alright at work mi vida?”
Swallowing down the butterflies that quickly flittered about within your stomach you reminded yourself that this was your variants life, this was a different dimension and everyone here was a different variant.
Willing yourself to smile you glanced towards him, “Just the usual, coworkers and the system and stuff.” Beginning with that you added on quickly trying to figure out what the other ‘you’ would answer with- or rather what was something generic enough that it could fly beneath anyones radar. “The coffee machine was down so I’m a bit tired.”
His head tilted at this, mouth opening. “But you don’t like coffee?”
Shit.
“Oh well I mean my coworkers were upset about it so I had to deal with a lot of cranky people,” You forced a laugh, “You know how some people can be without their caffeine.”
“Dad’s cranky without coffee.” Piping in from where she stood beside you Ella let out a laugh, her mind presumably associating that thought with another. “Remember when you hid all the coffee when he forgot your birthday? That was so funny.”
“I didn’t forget it,” His arm dropped from your shoulder and instead tenderly held your other hand. “I was just planning a surprise party.”
Ella didn’t seem to believe it and just stuck out her tongue, the man doing the same.
It was strange really; this wasn’t your dimension and despite how close you felt with your Miguel- this one wasn’t yours, and Ella wasn’t your child. However at the moment, you felt a little obligated to act along- for the sake of your own variant of course.
“And how did that surprise party go?”
Lighting up at the tone you’d used Ella giggled. “Bad! Super bad!”
“It wasn’t!” He tried to defend himself quickly but at the insistence of his daughter and the tender smile that crept across your face he yielded quickly. Just simply shaking his head with a gentle laugh.
After a little more banter- some you tried to join in on- you all eventually arrived at the park, quickly finding yourself pushing Ella on one of the swings. The other Miguel watching from the side as he leaned against the structures support beams.
Sparing him a quick glance your eyes snapped away at the payful wink he’d given you- your Miguel would rather roll his eyes than wink if you so much as breathed in his direction. Albeit he was still kind but in a tough love kind of sense.
Ending up spending awhile at the park playing various little games, you began to dread the next one. Especially considering it was apparently something that the other ‘you’ had made up and it’d be a major red flag if the current you didn’t remember it.
However your saving grace came in the form of the other Miguel’s phone ringing, his lips downturning softly before curling back up. “Looks like work needs me.” His tone was apologetic, arms coming right away to give Ella a quick hug as she ran over. His attention moving onto you as you neared, the mans arms enveloping you much like he had with his daughter.
There was an unfamiliarity to the action, but you just patted the back of his sweater lightly hoping that that’d suffice. “I should be back home in the morning. Okay mi vita?”
“Yeah that’s fine, do what you need to do.” A boxy smile had come to rest across your lips, cheeks heating up as he once again gave them a quick peck following it up with an adoring smile.
He must really love the ‘you’ of this world.
“Be good for mom,” Patting Ella’s head he ruffled her hair quickly, adding on once more before walking off. “Stinker.”
Right away calling out playful insults in response the little girl shook her head, attention moving back to you while she began insisting that you push her on the swings a few more times before leaving.
Now, you would have been fine watching over Ella for an hour or so by yourself, but having to find ‘your’ house? That was a much much different story- it was like a needle in a haystack and the only way you did end up finding the place was because you turned it into a game, having the small girl guide you the entire way there- as well as unlock the front door via a keypad.
“You’re so funny mom.” Watching you open and close all the cabinets Ella let out a laugh, the bowl of mac’n cheese sitting before her was left untouched as you searched through the kitchen for where the cutlery was stored.
Finally finding where it was kept you gave yourself a mental high-five, handing over the girls desired utensil before leaning back against the counter.
Being a fake mom was hard.
Trying to take a moment to compose yourself your ears picked up the sound of the front door opening, heart rate picking up a little at the prospect of it being your other variant however when another figure stepped in did you pause.
“Dad’s back!” Sliding off of the stood she sat on Ella right away bolted towards the man, her small arms wrapping around him quickly.
However much like you had earlier in the day, he didn’t return it right away. Instead his gaze flickered up to you, (E/C) hues meeting with wine tinted hues.
Your heart fluttered.
“Yeah I’m back kiddo,” His eyes drifted back down to the girl then back up to you as if trying to signify an unspoken question.
Pushing away from the counter seeing that Ella had released the man you couldn’t help but give him a hug of your own- but in relief and to keep up the act for her. “How was work? Didn’t seem like they needed you for that long?”
Picking up on the implication Miguel allowed his own arms to wrap around you, “It was just for a bit, but I might have to head back soon.”
Nodding to signify your understanding you both parted from the intimate gesture; Ella right away making it apparent on what time it was with a loud yawn.
“Looks like somebody’s tired.”
“No I’m-” Her defense was interrupted by another yawn, you right away taking this as your chance to bring her towards where you discovered her room was earlier. “Wait, I want dad to tuck me in today.”
At the mention of that your head turned back towards where Miguel stood stiffly, his mouth opening to decline before seeing the way you stared.
Sucking in a breath he moved to take the small girls shoulder from you, the facade of a caring parent taking over as he’d disappeared into the hallway. “Right of course, lets get you to bed then.”
Now knowing that this was the Miguel you knew, you waited anxiously for his return to the livingroom. You almost instinctually coming to hug the man once again as he emerged from the hallway minutes later.
“It’s so good to see an actual familiar face- you wouldn’t believe the day I had.” Muffling that out into the shirt of his civilian clothes you basked in his presence for a second, mind somehow blocking out the embarrassment until you’d pulled away. An apologetic yet flustered smile made it’s way onto your lips. “Uh sorry about that.”
“Don’t be,” Shaking his head while saying that he took in a breath. “I’m glad youre alright,” Holding out a hand he motioned towards the wrist containing your watch, the device being raised enough for him to view the damage. “I wasn’t able to find you sooner because of the damage done, so I had to get Lyla to run your signature through the system.”
“Well, better late than never. I felt like I was playing house here.” Although you meant it as a joke, the domestic theme of the day made you a little melancholic- knowing that normality was something you’d never have the luxury of having. “Well, was playing house.”
“You seemed into it though.”
At the comment you gave him a look, the man unable to let out a mix between a chuckle and laugh. “Anyways. We should get going. Any longer here and we might cause a disturbance.”
“Wait- we can’t just leave her alone in the house? What kind of fake parents would we be?”
Upon mentioning the girl, Miguel let out a short huff. “Well, what do you have in mind then?”
“We wait for the other me to come home, and then you’ll get a ‘call from work.”
Pondering over the suggestion he wanted to decline right away, the thought of impersonating someone again left a bad taste in his mouth-however the paternal instincts deep within told him to just listen.
Which is what you both did.
Your variant came home about an hour later, her expression bidding Miguel a tired greeting followed by a peck on the cheek before merely heading to bed.
A little easier than you thought it was going to be. But hey, now you two could leave that place.
You never knew how much you missed HQ until the smooth walls and floors welcomed you, the glowing yellow screens of Miguel’s workplace and the holographic form of Lyla were comforting- especially once the Ai began chatting aimlessly.
The conversation halting as Miguel spoke up from where he leaned over a desk, “I didn’t know a dimension like that existed.” It was as though his brain took a step back from processing things then they were happening, the man thinking back to his late daughter and then the daughter he’d just met.
She had the perfect mix of the both of you- (E/C) hues and brown hair, your nose and his smile.
“I didn’t know either until I landed there,” Musing that out you let out a sigh. “She was cute right?”
Casting his gaze back at where you sat his lips tilted up softly, “She was.”
“She definitely got it from her mom.”
You were stunned at this, mouth falling open before closing. Eyes rolling faintly in response however without verbally saying anything he took that as a win.
Moving away from his desk he trailed towards where you sat, hand coming to brush some of your hair aside nuzzling his nose into the crown of your head- a gesture you were familiar with.
This was your Miguel after all.
Humming lowly he pecked for head, lips murmuring against it afterwards.
