This is an interesting article about how caffeine affects bees. Scientists estimate that 55% if flowering plants also produce caffeine in their nectar. Caffeine causes the bees to overestimate the quality of the resource and entices the bees to visit more often and, therefore, collect more pollen from the plant. This makes it easier for the plant because of its easier to produce a small amount of caffeine than a large amount of sugar.
