So I keep thinking about Soulmate AU, specifically the one where the first words they spoke to each other is tattooed somewhere on their body.
Does the Words actually have to be directed to you and just you alone? What if someone shouted your Words at a huge crowd and you happened to be there with them, does that count? And do you actually have to hear the words to be valid? Because imagine a popular personality, a rockstar maybe, having a tattoo that spells out “I love so much!” And a fangirl/boy whose words are “How you doing -insert name of state here-?” and though both are destined for each other, they would probably never know that because a hundred different fans had already shouted that to the rockstar, and the fangirl/boy had already went to a hundred different concerts.
And does it actually have to be spoken Words? What about written words? Or even signed ones? Just imagine, meeting your soulmate in a chatting website with hundreds of miles in between you. Or a mute guy trying to talk to you in hand signals and you don’t understand any of the words they’re saying so you didn’t realize that they’re signing your Words.
And what about childhood friends? Children who meet before they even realize the gravity of the words written on their bodies and both of them falling in love with each other as they grew up but so scared of confessing since they didn’t realize that they were each other’s mate.
Or imagine a door-to-door salesman whose Words are “Sorry, not interested.” and keep on having to hear them every day in his job?
And do you actually have to hear the Words? What if you were sleeping when somebody said those words to you. Is that still valid or not?
