In a post-apocalyptic world, ‘The City’ was supposed to be a safe-haven. But for those that didn’t ‘fit in’, it was just a prison that they were desperate to escape. Unfortunately, leaving ‘The City’ was the ultimate act of defiance that could not go unpunished.

Note: This such a cute fic. What's better than a famous, high-strung, single dad Liam, and an incredibly hilarious and hyper Louis. Oh, and who could hate dinosaur weddings? - Madeleine
2016 is a big year for solo artist Liam Payne. After his amazing experience on X Factor, releasing his own album and touring with Little Mix seems like the height of success. Then he meets Arsenal midfielder Louis Tomlinson at a charity event, and suddenly everything else fades into the background.
Also featuring Zayn as Liam's stylist, Niall as an Arsenal trainer, and Harry as himself if he'd gone on X Factor in 2013 and won the whole damn thing.

"So I've been nominated for an Oscar," Louis says carefully. If he's called to gloat, Liam doesn't care; proper phone etiquette be damned, he will hang up.
He will.
"I know," Liam says. "Everyone knows that."
"Right," Louis says. "I didn't know if you," he cuts himself off, and if Liam didn't know better by now, he'd say Lou was nervous.
"Didn't know if I what?" Liam asks. "If I was awake lately? If I'd blanked it all out? If I'd turned off the internet and lived like a hermit to avoid your name?"
"I was going to say, if you remembered me," Louis says, wry and bitter and so, so familiar.
"It was a divorce, Lou, not a head injury," Liam laughs. "Of course I remember you."

Liam knows the moment he wakes up that it’s not Louis laying beside him. It’s Louis’ body and Louis’ voice slowly starting to freak out. That was his second hint that Louis was gone, the first was that he hadn’t woken up with a small weight on his chest and lips pressed to his jaw.
Or
An au where people swaps bodies with their supposed soulmate on the new year’s after their twenty-first birthday.

Whatever trouble Liam is in, it sounds bad, and Louis doesn't really want to end up being like one of those men on CSI or Law & Order who tries to help out a poor, defenseless victim of domestic abuse and ends up bleeding out somewhere in a ditch because the psycho boyfriend/husband comes and kills the nice guy.

"We hope you understand, of course, Ms. Morgan. Your grandfather was gracious enough to get the courts to move the date up to this Sunday, which shouldn't be a problem, right?" Kris heard from the other end of her cell phone, the almost chiding tone of voice from the man grating on her nerves more and more with each word. Closing her eyes and letting out a deep sigh, Kris listened to the rest of the man's explanation before hanging up and tossing the phone across the room in an angry huff. What was already a bad week seemingly was just going to get worse. She was already sidelined from all of her games with a minor ankle injury, but adding the stress of dealing with her grandfather was much more trouble than Kris had anticipated. Pressing her back against the wall and sliding down to the ground, Kris let her head drop into her lap, angry tears rolling down her face. Her hands clenched tightly together, balling into fists as she tried to calm herself down.
Another buzz from her phone pulled Kris from her tears and she reached over to pick of the phone, her hand shaking slightly as she brought the phone to her ear. "Morgan, get down here to HQ, the new lawyer is here. I think you're going to want to meet with this one," the voice of one of her board members said before he launched into a quick diatribe about their newly employed lawyer. Kris listened vaguely, responding here and there just to show she was still there before the conversation ended. Though not thrilled, Kris was hoping that this would somehow be her last hope to keep the company and everything else her grandmother had bequeathed to her under her name. Even if it was a pain to run it all, there certainly wasn't any chance she would let her grandfather have it. Dressing up in more suitable attire than her gym clothes, Kris readied herself before sliding smoothly into her Jaguar and pulling out to head to the company headquarters downtown.
The short drive was enough to help Kris calm her nerves before her meeting with the new lawyer and with a deep breath, Kris exited her car and headed into the building. Almost immediately, someone was at her side leading her towards the meeting rooms on one of the upper floors as they chattered a bit about the woman she was about to meet. Smoothing her skirt down when she reached the door, Kris tilted her head towards the assistant and gave him a quick nod. "I've done this a few times, Brad, I've got this," Kris said, a smile rising onto her lips for a moment. Turning around, the smile dropped immediately and Kris closed her eyes as she took a few steps towards the door. She could do her best to play the part of the oh-so-powerful company owner and smile for the new hire as they went over details, but Kris didn't feel like smiling. It had been awhile since she really had, but she could fake it. Faking it was a talent she was much too good at for someone so young.
Letting the smile rise back onto her face, Kris opened the door to the conference room and strode it, stopping in her tracks when she saw the woman she was there to meet. Her eyes widened, a genuine smile tugging at her lips for a moment before she shook her head and reigned in her emotions. "Uh, Ms. Nash, thank you for...uh, sorry. Uh. Thank you for coming to meet with me, uh, I'm Kris. Just...Kris," she said, finishing her journey across the room before hesitantly holding her hand out to shake the other woman's. It was polite, what she was expected to do, and so she did it, even if she hated it. Gulping down a breath of air, Kris attempted to smile again, knowing that she probably seemed entirely ill at ease at the moment. "So, uhm, we should...we should take a seat, yeah?" Kris pulled two chairs out, offering one to Becca before sitting in the next one herself. Crossing her legs, Kris adjusted herself to the most comfortable position possible before looking back up at the woman in front of her.
