i’m more of a pop culture nerd than like an intellectual nerd, though. math can eff off and science is ??? and grammar is also ??? and history is /shrug emojis and basically i don’t remember anything from school ahaha. and i’m not a computer nerd either cuz like i can figure things out?? but only when i’m annoyed enough that something isn’t working right to motivate me XD

I'm gonna take a professional(?) guess from how excited the writers were and say they wanted something more Explicitly LGBT to happen on screen but marketing/upper management put a stranglehold on what they could/couldn't do. it's unfortunately par for the course on kids show production & while other shows have managed it, DW probably wanted to 'play it safe' with their big popular production :\

honestly, i wouldn’t be surprised if that WERE the case?? but like. i don’t know, they explicitly hyped up LGBT rep, confirmed these two characters were a couple, and then killed Adam off for emotional shock value. so even if they were’n’t allowed to anything more explicit, they still very much killed off one of their only “canon” LGBT characters because they knew it would hurt. I honestly would rather they’d never tried to appeal to us in the first place.

ITS COOL I GET YOU;; the cynic in me is wondering if they were allowed to hype up the couple specifically to get views out of the LGBT fanbase because all DW is going to look at in the end is numbers, most likely. & if there's a big drop off in viewership blame the show for daring to include any sort of rep in the first place OTL

GODDD I want to say that’s not the case but... you really never know. it was pretty clear there was a VERY large LGBT fanbase for the show, so I really wouldn’t be surprised if DW wanted to capitalize off of that

yeah same, i understand that not having explicit confirmation of their relationship in the show due to pushback from higher-ups, but i REFUSE to believe that one of dreamworks conditions was that they had to kill off one of the gay characters immediately. that was absolutely a conscious decision by the writing team and they purposefully hyped up shiro & adams relationship knowing that, which makes it so much more heinous imho

yesss exactly! it just. it hurts so much. I hope they see how disappointed and angry their fans are and I hope they realize that they’ve done wrong, whether it was intentional or not
