01.19.17 On the eve of the presidential inauguration, Issue Project Room presented a bracing concert consisting of collaborations between some of their former Artists-in-Residence. Audrey Chen wailed with her eerie voice sounds in collaboration with Miguel Frasconi on glass instuments and the legendary Joan LaBarbara on voice. Bradley Eros and MV Carbon combined film and light projection with live electronics, climaxing with the indelible image of two scorpions killing each other. The evening closed with a surreal, disturbing performance from Raul De Nieves and Doron Sadja, using smoke and lights, with De Nieves clad in a sculptural head dress of his creation muttering, chantng and screaming in a ritualistic, possessed manner over doomy surround-sound electronics.
