“But Lucy, why would we go to the movies alone? Wouldn’t it be more fun if we brought all our friends with us?” Natsu questioned as he shoveled another mouthful of popcorn into his pie hole. Sighing loudly, Lucy lifted herself up and went into the kitchen to make more food. If the way to a man’s heart was his stomach, she would have to make a ton more food for him just to even get an inkling of affection.

It broke her heart that he didn’t understand. She really just wanted to be treated like a girlfriend, not a friend. And it seemed like all Natsu wanted to do was be friends. He was friends with everyone--Lisanna, Erza, Gray, Juvia, Levy, and even he and Gajeel seemed to get along sometimes. Heck, even Laxus seemed to tolerate him more now that he had grown. Lucy admired the fact that he made friends so quickly, but she wished sometimes that he could become her boyfriend quicker. Everyone knew that they were basically a couple but Natsu. They’d tease her about going to the bathroom to pamper herself before he arrived at school each day, and the guys--as far as Lucy knew--would chuckle every time Natsu said he was going over to her house to watch a movie.

There was nothing romantic about their relationship as far as Natsu knew. Lucy, however, was living on a prayer of the hope that one day, he might finally man up and ask her out. But that was most likely going to happen when pigs flew, so Lucy wasn’t holding her breath.

Once she came back with more food, Natsu was completely silent except for the sound of munching. Flicking her eyes to him and then to the movie, Lucy accidentally touched Natsu’s hand as he reached his hand into the bowl. Nervously, the two took their hands out after grabbing their food to eat, and there was more silence as the film played.

Natsu cut his eyes to Lucy’s as the romantic scene came on. He watched as she sighed as the two characters kissed, and his mouth curved when she smiled. Her smile was something that could light up a room. She just had a thing about her that when she walked into a room, everyone’s heads turned. It could be her smile, her hair, her figure, or whatever else. Lucy was beautiful, and there was no denying that.

But what he was worried about when he did finally ask her out was not her saying no or something of the sort. No, what Natsu was worried about was messing up their friendship. They had been friends for so long that it was something that Natsu cherished completely, and he didn’t want to screw up something that was so amazing on its own.

But sometime, somehow, Natsu would have to ask her out. And that time was now.

“Luce?” Natsu asked as Lucy made her way to wash the dishes for the night.

“Yes?” Lucy said eagerly, hoping that it was the question she had been waiting to be asked for a great while.

“I-I don’t wanna mess this up, but...would you like to...nevermind,” Natsu admitted with a sigh, his eyes downcast and shoulders slumped. With a swivel of his feet, he began to walk away from the girl he had loved forever. “I mean, why would you go out with someone as screwed up as me?”

Lucy let him walk a few steps before her mouth opened almost involuntarily and she said something she’d wanted to say for a long time. “Because you’re you.”

Natsu turned around once more and lifted a pink eyebrow. “Me?”

“Yeah. You didn’t think I’d be that stupid to fall in love with some ordinary guy, did you? I love you because you’re who you are. Your favorite color is green, you go hiking too much, and because of that, you eat too much food. Mostly my food, too, but that’s not what matters here. What matters right now is that I want to kiss you.”

Once the words were out of her mouth, Lucy almost instantly regretted them. How stupid could she be to spew all of these things she loved about Natsu, someone who she’d admired and pined after for so long?

“I wanna kiss you too,” Natsu said after a few moments of silence had passed.

“Well, good, cause I didn’t want to be the only one--”

Before Lucy could finish her sentence, Natsu gently pressed her into his arms and kissed her like it was going to be their last kiss on earth.

Thankfully, it was only their first. Once they broke apart, Lucy initiated the kiss next and then peppered little kisses all over Natsu’s cheeks until he turned as pink as his hair.

“You really like me?” Lucy asked as she rested her head on his chest.

“Really really,” Natsu said, and together they held hands for the first time as a couple. It felt good. And it felt right.

And it was perfect.

Ever since I finished Turnabout, I wanted to write another defiant!MC/suit saeran fic and I'm working on one now but it's taking foreverrrr n its apparently gonna be a long one (for me at least) SO.... I wanted to show a preview of it. This part is mainly Saeran VN dialogue bc it starts during one of the early day 9 VNs and goes canon divergent from there... But hopefully it's fun to read n gets someone hyped idk lol

MC kept her eyes closed, acting as if she were still sound asleep. She had never been a skilled actor, however, and Saeran saw through her in an instant. She just wanted him to go away, but he stayed there, talking the same crap he’d spewed since Ray had disappeared into the recesses of his mind.

“Look at me,” he commanded, his voice low and mocking as he stepped closer. “Here’s Ray’s face. The face you love so much.”

She resisted the urge to groan and opened her eyes, sitting up and turning to meet his gaze.

“Isn’t there a list of things you want to do to him?” he wondered “Like a kiss…”

She couldn’t help the blush that crept into her cheeks and cursed herself silently for showing a reaction.

“What were you thinking? Where did you let those stupid imaginations of yours take you?”

MC clenched her jaw, grinding down on her teeth.

“What? Are you too shy to tell me? You’re a toy,” he laughed. “You shouldn’t be feeling shy… You still don’t know your place. Or is it because you’re too stupid to remember?”

She was so tired of hearing these insults and willed herself to tune them out. He kept saying she was boring, but did he realize he sounded like a broken record?

“I’ll pretend to be Ray. So do that thing again. You know, what you did in the garden. Come on. If you waste more time, something no fun at all will take place… I’m Ray, you stupid toy…!” His voice gradually gained more volume as she continued to ignore him. “Treat me like Ray, will you?!”

Saeran had anticipated her reaction to be one of fright. He had imagined she would cower, clutching the sheets to her chest before the fear overtook her and she gave into his demands. He certainly hadn’t expected her to say–

“… Are you seriously begging me for a kiss right now?”

They had decided that fixing the heating system could wait till morning. Saeran was sure that he could fix it, but it was late and MC was stubborn about him getting enough sleep these days. He wouldn’t admit it out loud, but he liked her nagging him about it. It was a refreshing change from being forced to work with so little sleep at Mint Eye and it showed how much she cared for him.

But it didn’t take long for the bunker to feel more like an ice palace, there having been record-breaking low temperatures all through this week. They gathered every blanket they could find, tossing them onto their shared bed before huddling underneath them.

“You know,” Saeran cleared his throat, “sharing body heat works better with skin-to-skin contact...”

MC’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. Though they had been sharing this bed for a while now, the two had always been fully clothed in pajamas when in it.

“Is... that so?” she wondered. “Then..” She reached down to slide off her pj bottoms and kicked them to the end of the bed.

“You don’t-” Saeran started, voice laced with slight panic, “if you don’t want-”

“Shh,” she whispered as she placed a finger against his lips. She then pulled her over-sized top off, leaving herself in only a pair of panties.

“Um, uh...” Saeran had turned a shade of pink that made MC smile. Her own cheeks were heating up, but she felt somewhat prideful that she had rendered him nearly speechless.

“Your turn,” she said softly.

He shouldn’t have said anything. Why did he say that? It came from his mouth without thinking.

Stupid!

MC was so beautiful, how could his thin and pale body compare? He was in such awe at the sight of her form, but it wouldn’t be like that for her. She would surely find his body disgusting...

“Saeran?”

He was suddenly pulled out of his thoughts.

“Are you ok? I can... put my clothes back on if-”

“No!” he said a bit too hastily and wanted to smack himself. “I mean, you- you’re gorgeous.” He knew he had to be an unattractive shade of red by now. “I’m just- I’m...”

“It’s okay...” she said. “You don’t have to be ready.”

He felt relieved to hear her say that, but also guilty because it sounded like... she wanted to... Didn’t she realize underneath these clothes was just a pile of bones? Skin stretched across too thin, too pale and riddled with scars? Who would want to see such a thing?

“Um, no,” he mumbled. “I was just... in shock.” It wasn’t a complete lie.

MC backed away enough to allow Saeran some movement. He slowly rolled his shirt up and over his head and hurriedly wriggled out of his pants before he could chicken out. He screwed his eyes shut, waiting for her disappointment.

He opened them in surprise when he received warmth instead. Her arms wrapped around him and she pressed a kiss to his forehead. She smiled as she looked into his eyes.

“I love you.”

Saeran felt his eyes start to sting as tears welled up in them. He hated himself for allowing them to spill over and he quickly went to wipe them away, but MC got there first. She cupped his face with one hand as she kissed up his tears, thumb stroking his cheek.

She said it again.

“I love you.”

Saeran moved his head to meet her lips. He put his arms around her, pulling her even closer. They had kissed before, but this was different. They had never been this exposed to one another, this vulnerable. It made the experience that much more breathtaking and when they broke apart for air, Saeran said only one thing.

“I love you.”

Neither of them had to worry about staying warm for the rest of the night.

The wind breezed through the summer night’s sky as Jellal listened to Erza heartbeat. The steady drum of her heart was the only thing keeping him grounded. Otherwise, he’d feel as if he could float among the stars.

It had been ages since he had listened to her heartbeat. The last time was years ago when they had that near kiss, the one that broke him to his core & kept his mind from thinking of her when he was away.

But he didn’t want to be away from her anymore. No, he wanted to be at her side for all eternity. Jellal was a free man now, and Erza was well aware of that fact.

“Ezra?” he mused, a soft smile teasing his lips. The kiss that was not meant to be was brought back to his mind. This was the time for him to finally take her lips for his own.

“Mm?” she replied sleepily. Jellal wrapped his arms around her, smiling gently. As soon as Erza opened her eyes, he was star struck. It was like the sunset lit up her eyes even more than normal, and he couldn’t help but press his lips to hers.

Once they broke apart, Erza flushed a deep crimson and a delicate smile curved on her mouth.

Jellal opened his mouth, beginning to say the start of something beautiful. Magical. And right.

“It was always you.”

As the wind softly brushed the grass from side to side, Nora listened to Ren’s heartbeat as he napped in the afternoon sun. The day was bright, but it did not matter to the two that were exhausted from the training so they could ready themselves for the war before them.

Ren’s heartbeat thumped in Nora’s ears, and Nora sighed softly as she thought about how they met. She was so lost when they first found each other, and now she could find love and hope in something that was both brand new and old as time.

Love.

As he slept, Ren tangled his hand in Nora’s hair, and Nora blushed at the contact. Even though they had been friends for ages, being a couple with the man she had a crush on since she was a child still made her own heart beat faster. Ren’s and Nora’s hearts beat as one in that moment, keeping them in time together as Nora slowly drifted asleep to the sound of her lover’s heartbeat.

And as the two slumbered, they dreamed of each other as one.

All I Want For Christmas

Pairing: Jumin/MC Rating: T Words: 338 Takes place during Jumin’s Christmas dlc ending.

“Hmm. What was it you asked of me before- ‘say something cute’?”

Naturally, thinking of what would fall under the category of “cute,” MC herself came to mind (though “beautiful” suited her more precisely, in his opinion.)

What did she find cute? He recalled she had remarked before on how cute Elizabeth the Third was. Ah.

“Meow.”

This seemed to suffice as her face broke into a wide grin.

“And in return?” she asked.

“I would like you to do something cute.”

Nevermind that MC could do just about anything and it would be deemed cute in Jumin’s eyes. He was more curious about what she would choose to do. He found himself quite unprepared for what she decided.

“Meow~” she cooed, putting her hands up like cat’s paws. Then she licked the corner of his mouth.

That was… a bit more than cute. Jumin could feel the blush spreading across his cheeks. He noted MC looked quite pleased with herself at this.

“My next request…” she began and her face softened as she continued, “please hold me like you did before- from the front this time.”

Jumin thought of telling her that she need not request such an act of him- he was just barely holding in the urge to do so already. But he kept quiet as he embraced her, resting his head upon her shoulder and taking in her sweet scent. She smelled like pine needles and sugar cookies; like Christmas.

They stayed like that for a while till Jumin lifted his head to lay a kiss upon her cheek. He felt there was no need to voice what he wanted in return, actions speaking louder than words. He took her face into his hands and looked into her eyes. She closed them and he pressed their lips together in a chaste kiss. She opened her mouth against his and Jumin felt something stir in the pit of his stomach. He kissed back with fervor, one hand now combing through her hair and coming to rest at the back of her head. MC’s own hands clutched at the front of Jumin’s clothes, pulling him deeper into their kiss.

When they both finally had to break apart for air, she yawned.

“Sorry,” she mumbled sheepishly. “I’m a bit tired.”

He nodded. “You worked hard helping Yoosung and Assistant Kang with the event and it is quite late.”

“Let me just lie down for a bit…” Jumin got up from the couch and she stretched out her legs before curling up into the corner.

Like a cat, he thought in amusement. He decided to check the messenger while she rested. Hopefully, things had been wrapped up well after they had left the event. During his conversation with Yoosung and Zen, he noticed that MC had fallen asleep. He left them with a quick goodbye.

Gently, he gathered her up in his arms and made way for the bedroom. She didn’t stir as he laid her down and tucked the covers around her. He situated himself on top of the blankets next to her, admiring her sleeping face. Even being with her in this moment, while she slept so soundly, was more precious to him than he could describe.

“Merry Christmas,” he whispered, brushing her hair aside to plant a kiss on her forehead.

“Merry… Chris-mas… Jumin…” Her words came out in a slur and he was unsure whether she was awake or merely talking in her sleep.

It didn’t matter though, the only thing that did was that she was here now, spending these final moments of the holiday with him. That was all he really wanted in the end.
