I wasn't expecting to be teary eyed about this, and it does not diminish the tragedy of the situation at all. But I'm reading about the Schilperoord couple (the couple who died of hantavirus) and it's all about the birds they saw on their trip. They loved birds. The husband tracked the birds he spotted in an app and logged just under 6000. That's half of all species in the WORLD. They traveled around Argentina and saw 77 species in one day. The point of this cruise was to see unique wildlife. It gives me a small amount of joy in this (frequently quite bleak) world that they were doing something really special with their shared hobby right before they died.
There's no point or message to this. Like I said, it doesn't diminish the tragedy. I'm just touched to know this information and thought maybe you'd be, too.
