guys i'm sobbing
all my life i've been told that since i share a face with someone (my twin), we're the same people. i've been told that we aren't different people with different interests and beliefs. and it hurts, even when it's a joke. we always have the same jobs, we get identical gifts, etc.
anyway this guy worked with my sister yesterday and he's working with me today. he made a joke and i didn't get it and he said, "you reacted the same as your sister." and i offhandedly said "yeah, i mean we have the same face, most people say we're copy and pastes of each other," yk.
AND THIS GUY
he goes, "no you're not. you're unique people. you deserve to be recognized as such. you have very distinct personalities."
and so now i'm sobbing on my break that ends in two minutes because not even my parents, not even my dad (who's also a twin, albeit a fraternal sister), has said that we're distinctly different. sure, some people can tell us apart, but no one has ever once said that we're different.
