Although I have much to share about MY adventure to this emerald in the rough. I chose not to. Something I was not expecting, finding myself in a rural community hidden in the mountains. Yet my sis is of course MY sis & will take me wherever her drive & passion takes her. Working as an educator for #augsburguniversity located in #minneapolis; she takes time out of her day to travel in her small Hyundai hours away from her home 2 sculpt her teaching process. PAYING people for their time, stories, & their hope. Hope that one day civil society, governance, & humanity can save their home. Hit by #hurricanemitch1998, they have been rebuilding ever since. These are their brief stories; children, a mother, a farmer, a son/medic working towards a better future. #Climatechange is REAL, it’s causes&effects r interrelated with the politics, international aid, & populace. Get out of the box that is your neighborhood, state or country, because lack of concern can lead 2 dire consequences out of the control of those it harms most, the poor and humble. Today something pretty cool happened. I opened up a piano book and sight read a piece by Leonard Bernstein. One of his easier pieces, "For Susanna Kyle born July 24, 1949." What struck me was the ease of the piece and how I was able to get into it without the worry of technique or of it being "performance ready". No Dynamics and a few wrong notes. It wasn't a big deal. It was about playing it and making the music. This here is a minute long clip. This journey has been long and I've learned a lot but I hope to take this seemingly unremarkable moment with me. I will continue to build skills and learn and grow, but that passion and will to make music. To create.
