Hayes & Hal 

So I've been working on Comicesque edits and i uh

have this thing

They’ve spent the last four and half hourspractising   and   Tom   was   unbelievably exhausted. Bruises and scratches dustedboth of their cheeks, hidden underneatha fine layer of sweat mixed with dirt.

But he didn’t regret the choice in any regard.With Hal, they had both made more progresson their steelwork than they ever had on theirown and frankly, that was more than enoughincentive for him to continue. Even if that meantsneaking out into the Forbidden Forest whenthey were technically supposed to be asleep.

                         ——- Hal would heal the both of                                 them later, silently teasing                                 Tom for his struggle with                                 casting such light magic.

                                                 For now, they were resting, backs pressed against a                                                 tree as they wrote down various observations they                                                 had made during this session to study later. In their                                                 own, quiet sort of way, what they shared was as                                                 close to friendship as Tom Riddle could ever come by.

With a sigh, Hal shifted, restingher head against Tom’s shoulderas  her  quill  continued  writing, perfectly undisturbed. Blue hueslifted from his own work to shoother a vaguely annoyed look, buthis lips remained shut nevertheless.If she were anyone else, he wouldhave cursed them on the spot. Hal,for some reason, received a starklydifferent response from the Slytherin.   —— A response of tolerance.

                                     Time passed slowly for Tom, engrossed in his work as he                                     so frequently was, and it was as if he blinked and then out                                     of nowhere, the beginnings of morning light was just starting                                     to breach the barrier offered by the clouds.

           “We have to go.” Was the most he said,                                       lifting  his  shoulder  to                                       nudge Hal, who offered                                       no response besides an                                       unintelligible murmur.

And he cocked his head to the side, lips pulling up into theghost of a warm smile as his gaze met the sleeping face ofhis duelling partner. She was quiet, peaceful, even. As if shehad fallen asleep long ago, unnoticed by the Slytherin. Andfor now at least, he would let her sleep. She deserved asmuch, the way he saw it, though neither of them would belate for such simple reasons.
