"Hewlett's Daughter" by Grandaddy
Released August 7, 2000
Laetitia Casta in “Charme Laetitia Nature” for Elle France, August 2000
At the Drive-In @ Wayne Firehouse in Wayne, N.J. (August 13, 2000) At the Drive-In changed everything when they hit the scene. There was a pre-ATDI New Jersey and a post-ATDI New Jersey.
White belts, brown pants, black thrift store T-shirts, and thick black-rimmed glasses, whether your eyes worked or not, were out of stock after In/Casino/Out (1998) got played at the Wayne Firehouse.
Bands were jumping off the walls and tables when they played and shows were never the same again. I remember hearing a ton of people lie about being at this show, but I was actually there and there’s video evidence of it.
I was in awe for 45 minutes.
Cedric was singing from under the stage at some point. We all knew they said they were from El Paso, but I'm pretty sure that was just a cover story to hide the fact they actually had arrived from a different planet and were here to share their technology with us.

Diary Post (Friday 4 - Tuesday 8 August 2000)
Doctor visits. So many doctor visits. And a nice long call with the band kids that may or may not be my friends.
Yesterday was the last of the lot, with a nutritionist. Mom decided she can't trust me to eat on time, so she's taken me to work today so she can watch me eat. I still have computer access because her desk mate is away all month, and I have access to computer paper, but it's a weird environment. Everyone keeps not realising that I'm Mom's kid and making uncomfortable comments when she brings it up.
She says I can stay at home alone again if I can prove I have plans to go outside and talk to someone. Tomorrow she's going to drive me to the psychiatrist in the middle of work and pick me up after to go straight home, the day after I'm visiting my potential new school, and then I'm hanging out with the band kids.
Didn't find the apartment cat when I came home.
Everything is okay.
Tomorrow might be better.
