Cassie’s Pre-Kinder Moments
In choosing a School, i think, apart from the Tuition Fee and Standard of Education, location is an important factor.
Im saying this, because we have experienced this ourselves, and it was so hard, that i hope the School Year will just end.
WHY DID I ENROLL CASSIE AT ST PAUL QC?
Our location is at the heart of Quezon City, QC Circle is the landmark.
So whenever people would asked me, where is Cassie was studying, they will get surprised and would always react, “thats too far from your house”
And it was really a struggle for me, for us, for months.
But we had no choice. Why?
Cassie was born September 2015. and this is what makes things hard for us.
Her birth month - SEPTEMBER.
On a regular basis, Cassie should fall as a Nursery (or Pre-Kinder) when she’s about to turn 4 years old on the coming School Year.
Cause it should be 4yo for Nursery and 5yo for Kinder. Right?
Some Schools would call it Nursery and Kinder.
Other Schools will call it Kinder 1 and Kinder 2.
Some others would have Nursery, Pre-Kinder and Kinder.
And other more would have First Step, Nursery and Kinder.
Since Cassie’s birthday falls on September, Cassie is still 3 years old by June which is usually the start of the Opening of classes. She’s still 3 years old by July and until August.
And unfortunately, ALL the Catholic Schools within our residence have JUNE or JULY as their Opening of Classes. In short, they did not accept her.
They will only accept enrollees for Nursery (Pre-Kinder/Kinder 1) who’s already 4 by June or maybe July.
Cassie failed on this age requirement.
So we were just planning on enrolling her the following School Year, so that she’s 4 years old by that time, since that is the age requirement of most of the Catholic Schools close to us.
But then, honestly, nanghihinayang kami sa time. “Sayang naman yung isang taon, ilang months lang ang difference” that was going through our mind.
Plus, Cassie would always say, “mommy, i want to go to school na”
We feel that she’s ready and so we tried to look for a School which has a School Opening by August. I browsed through the net. Tinawagan ko isa-isa. Hoping that they will accept or consider somehow her age.
And then i found ST PAUL UNIVERSITY QUEZON CITY.
Their School Year starts every August. and accepts until “4 years old by October.”
So Tatay asked me, “kakayanin mo ba? mejo malayo?”
And i answered, kakayanin nalang kasi sayang ang time.
So then, we tried the entance exam and interview. We were praying that if she will not be accepted, then maybe, next year nalang talaga.
Fortunately, she was accepted.
From QC Circle, i will pass by Q. Ave, then turn left at Timog. From there, i would turn right at Scout Tobias (Mcdonalds). Straight ahead passing by the bridge. Then its Hemady already and i will just turn right going to E.Rod. I will turn left to Gilmore (with matching madalian para mahabol ang stop light), tapos turn left again at 3rd Street.
That has been our travel daily.
Waking up at a quite early time just to make sure we will not be late was tough.
Preparation for school, bath time, baons and travel. #Exhausting
Not to mention that i just gave birth few months ago during this time.
I would wait for her in the school, since we cannot get a service. The School Bus Drivers said, our location is already too far, which is understandable.
I would drop her at home after school and i would go to the office afterwards. #Pagod
After a month, my body was giving up, so we tried to change our routine.
After her class, we will just both go to the office and I will just bring her extra clothes and food so that i wont need to drop her home cause i was really getting exhausted from driving.
Location is really a factor mommies.
And now, with the Pandemic, Schools moved its opening by August. and with this case, most of the schools near our location adjusted their age requirement. Yehey! Finally! Pasok na si Cassie!
Haaay, September Babies!!!
Anyway, we can now choose a school with better location, closer to our home, and more convenient for us.
Some of the good things this Covid19 has done.
Hindi nasayang ang hirap, sakrisyo at tiyaga.
Cassie is now a Kinder :)
We wanted Cassie to have Pre-school Education for only 2 years. Nasasayangan kami if she would enter School at a very young age. (But this is our opinion only, please dont get offended if this is opposite your point of view)
We didn’t enroll Cassie to any School or Day Care during her younger years because we wanted her to just enjoy her Age.
And we chose a Big School for her first Schooling since Learning Centers and Universities have almost the same Tuition Fees. And more importantly, we wanted her to grow up in 1 School lang sana, all throughout her Basic Education. Ang hirap din kasi yung attachment to the School and specially, friends.
Hope i have imparted something mommies.
Thank you so much to everyone at St Paul QC for these memorable moments.
It was a tough decision to leave, but we have to make a choice.
We will forever be grateful.
I will Miss you Sister Lauren (a long time friend), til we meet again!
