More Isaac Night Headcanons
I'm working on something with this dude again, so I need to clear my mind before I write anything.
Pre-death Isaac & Gomez headcanons I wish were explored :
When he arrived at Nevermore, Isaac still had his weak heart and had to go to the nursery quite often, missing a lot of classes, but he worked hard on his own and quickly became a teacher's favourite - especially Stonehurst's, who pushed his mind and ability so far his heart almost gave up in the process.
He was Gomez's roommate from day 1 and Gomez took him under his wing, because he was a bit shy, awkward and an introvert.
Gomez actually pushed his limits several times, but it taught him patience. Maybe he even secretly liked it because he felt normal for once, and was not just the sick kid people would pity.
He mimicked Gomez's charm to try and get along with the other kids but was still awkward af, maybe a bit self-conscious, so it didn't really work and he eventually gave up and embraced solitude.
Gomez talked to him about Morticia and even introduced her to him, but Isaac wasn't well-versed in love language (or didn't really care) so he didn't know they were dating until they literally shove it in his face.
His heart condition worsened until he was finally unable to leave the nursery, almost had to leave Nevermore for good and be bedridden in a hospital waiting for his premature death but he refused.
Gomez visited him everyday and entertained him with his stories, imaginary fights and other Gomez-y things, and encouraged him to try and fix his own heart because he was certain he could do it with his genius mind.
Ofc Françoise also visited him everyday, and they dreamed about a future for the both of them regardless of their conditions, knowing that they would probably die before they even reached adulthood.
Another frequent visitor was Stonehurst, who still pushed Isaac beyond his limits, but was also the one who made the clockwork heart possible by pulling some strings to get the best surgeon possible.
While he was waiting for his transplant, Isaac's heart stopped. Gomez was the one who restarted it with his spark. It gave Isaac the "spark" to try to understand his roommate's power and see what use he could have for it should he survive the transplant.
Isaac was saved by his transplant, but his behaviour quickly shifted. He became cold and calculated, even borderline cruel with Gomez at times, but Gomez was way too nice (and oblivious) to fight with him. Morticia gave him shit for it everytime it happened though.
Isaac avoided his dorm room more and more until Stonehurst built him his lab in Iago Tower. At that point Gomez & him nearly never saw each other.
For Gomez however, Isaac was still the shy, awkward, introvert genius he tried to get to open up, he never acknowledged the shift in his behaviour.
When Isaac finally learned to use charm to get whatever he wanted, Gomez just thought that he felt too lonely in his tower so he tried to connect again.
Isaac invited Gomez to his lab a few times to test his powers on the machine, but it never went too far.
Isaac moved back to his shared dorm room a few weeks before the incident, so he could be friendly with Gomez again and hide his real intentions.
When Gomez sat on the chair that night, it wasn't the first time so he wasn't scared at all until Isaac tied him up. And the rest is history.
