The Angel and the Lich
Aun'dea Magi
A peek into the world I'm trying to create. The list isn't close to being finished, of course. This is just what I have so far.
The main Magi types tend to have certain personalities to go with their powers. Healers - Tend to be rather obsessive. Things must be a certain way in their place of healing or they can get extremely distressed--though they will do their best to be calm in front of patients. Destroyers/Necromancers - In a word; cynical. They are surrounded by death and are slowly dying themselves, so they tend to come off a bit bitter. Neutrality/Stillness - They speak in monotone when they choose to speak at all. They do not like being disturbed and much prefer absolute silence to the point where many choose to make themselves deaf. Earth - Tend to seem somewhat apathetic, but when moved to action, it will happen suddenly and quickly and is likely to be violent. Water - One type with varying personalities. Some are very calm and serene, while others are extemely active and anything in between. It is only the constant slight dampness around them that keeps them from being mistaken for other types of Magi. Fire - Usually easily riled, not so easily calmed, though there are some that are actually very slow to coax into a temper. They almost always have an elevated temperature. Electricity - Very jumpy, very short attention span--until they get angry, then they will focus entirely on the reason for their ire. Fortunately, they don't often pay enough attention to get angry. Wind - Like the Water Magi, their personalities can be all over the map from calm to easily riled and all in between. The way to tell them from others is the breathless way they talk. Animal empaths - They tend to be very calm around animals, but snappish to most people and will often have animals that follow them around. They are incapable of doing harm to an animal and an animal is normally incapable of doing harm to them in turn to the point that even rabid beasts will tend to turn away from attacking. NECROMANCER There are two kinds of Necromancers; good ones and evil ones. The good ones can only bring back willing souls and if the corpse is fresh enough and they're skilled enough, can even restore someone to life completely. They can use another fresh corpse to bring back a soul, but it's considerably harder since it's not the original vessel. The evil Necromancers can do that too, but they can also haul back unwilling souls and shove them into their own bodies or others. Depending on the freshness of the corpse and their skill, they either get vengeful functional, fearful functional, or zombie/ghoul. The last one obviously isn't really capable of independent thought. All three types must be chained to the Necromancer, or there is a risk of them turning on the Necromancer. A Master Necromancer is called a Lich and unless they take life energy from another source, the more they use their powers, the more dead they look as some of their life is drained whenever they cast their spells. A Lich also has unnaturally colored eyes that doesn't depend on the kind of magic they use. This means that a good Lich can have scarlet eyes and an evil Lich can have violet.
(Feel free to note me if you are interested in more details about a magi type or about other aspects of the world)
