How Music Endears Aung La N Sang To Fans
No matter where he competes, Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang has one of the most incredible walkouts in ONE Championship.
But crowd reactions are most intense at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar, where Aung La N Sang is celebrated as a national hero.
“The Burmese Python” often enters the belly of the arena to the electrified beats of Myanmar rock anthem “Amae Like Akah,” and as he makes his way to the ONE Circle, his compatriots join him in song and dance.
“Lay Phyu is a super-famous rocker in Myanmar,” the 34-year-old said about the iconic Burmese singer and guitarist. “He has been famous since I was a little kid and grew up there. This song is very popular during the Water Festival. It gets the Burmese people excited.”
The energy from the song and spectators leaves the Myanmar sports hero in awe every time he competes in his home country.
“It’s crazy [to feel that energy from the crowd],” he said. “You’re no longer nervous or scared. You’re just ready to go out there and do your thing. You have so much energy from the crowd.”
The two-division ONE World Champion wanted his walkout music to reflect his warrior mentality, and it was no surprise that the Myanmar fans took a liking to it.
“When I fought in Myanmar, instead of choosing an English song, I ended up choosing that one and it really fired the crowd up,” Aung La N Sang said about his anthem.
“It’s a very good song to get the crowd pumped up. Ever since I made that switch, I’ve always used that one song.
“It’s like a hunter is hunting a deer, or looking for its prey, and that’s just the kind of attitude that you should have.”
The man from Myanmar feeds off the crowd’s energy and uses it as fuel to put on exciting shows. Thanks to fan support, “The Burmese Python” is undefeated in his homeland with a perfect 7-0 record.
“You have so much energy from the crowd,” he said. “It definitely makes you more alert, more aware, and more confident when you walk out.”

Aung La N Sang Ready To Close Chapter On Bigdash Trilogy
Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang is eager to close the chapter on one of the most storied rivalries in ONE Championship history.
The two-division ONE World Champion will collide with rival – and former ONE Middleweight World Champion – Vitaly Bigdash later this year. With both men owning a win apiece against each other, “The Burmese Python” wants to show the martial arts world he is indeed the middleweight king.
“I have everything to prove,” Aung La N Sang said. “I have to prove that I am the rightful World Champion.”
The two giants first clashed at ONE: QUEST FOR POWER in Jakarta, Indonesia in January 2017.
“The Burmese Python” stepped up on 10 days’ notice to challenge then-middleweight king, Bigdash.
Despite a valiant effort, the man from Myanmar fell short in his attempt to capture the ONE Middleweight World Title. All three judges awarded the Russian the unanimous decision win for his effective grappling and top control throughout the five-round thriller.
Five months later, the two middleweights met again in Yangon, Myanmar at ONE: LIGHT OF A NATION. This time, the national hero entered the Circle with a full training camp.
Aung La N Sang came narrowly close to finishing Bigdash in the opening round. But the big man from Rostov, Russia hung tough and replied with strong grappling as the bout unfolded.
However, unlike in their first encounter, “The Burmese Python” out-struck his adversary with pinpoint precision to earn the unanimous decision win and a place in Myanmar sporting history as the country’s first-ever World Champion.
Aung La N Sang continued to improve after his epic World Title triumph.
Shortly after capturing the gold, he moved to Florida, USA to train under Henri Hooft at Sanford MMA. Then he finished each of his next six opponents.
During his impressive run, the Myanmar hero became a two-division ONE World Champion after his sensational 56-second knockout of Alexandre Machado to claim the vacant ONE Light Heavyweight World Title in February 2018.
Aung La N Sang’s confidence surged following his run of success, and now he wants to prove beyond all doubt who is the better man in the upcoming trilogy.
“He gave me a hard time when I previously fought him, but I was a part-time fighter back then,” he said.
“Now that I am a full-time fighter and working with the best team in the world and training with the best guys in the world on a daily basis, I feel like this is going to show my improvements since our last fight.
“I’ve got to make sure this is a decisive bout. I have to make sure Vitaly will never, ever, in his wildest dreams, want to fight me again.”
