Aural Achitecture/ Visualise Sound - Sung Ting Hsieh
This interactive installation site consists of several trays carrying water with a mounted loudspeaker underneath - using contact microphones to collect the internal sound of building structures and synchronously amplify it with speakers. It reflects people’s actions and footsteps, and visualises the motion, as every sound frequency in the space could affect the water patterns. People can perceive the ambient sound from themselves and their surroundings, with even the most minute of noises visually intercepted. The Piezo contact microphone is installed on an architectural structure that consists of ground, window and railings. And each sound source corresponds to three different speakers, producing diverse water water patterns. A projector projects the resulting light and reflection on the wall and pieces of fabric. People can step, touch, hear and observe.
