So I have just spent this weekend in Brisbane for the Aurealis Awards, where my short story ‘Bottom Feeders’ has been shortlisted for best short horror fiction. Words can’t express how surreal it was to be shortlisted, and it was so exciting to come and meet so many amazing writers here in Brisbane.

I also hand great time just exploring the city. I’ve only been to Brisbane once before and last time it was for work, so it’s been a huge amount of fun to get to wander around and experience the vibes. I loved the museums and galleries, always my first stop in a new place.

Thanks for the fun Brisbane. I hope to be back next year for GenreCon 2027, and then for sure for Worldcon in 2028!
