ever since settling in athos, silas had found that he liked certain things. like this, training. he'd almost forgotten how good it made him feel in the past. yes, he'd done it for a different purpose back then, but it had the same effect. aurelio had been kind enough to show him around during his first week & he could swear they'd formed some kind of bond. not like.. a friendship, yet, but a mutual understanding.

he'd also offered to spar with him & train with him, which he had gladly accepted. he thought he was still doing okay, but okay wasn't enough & he had to be more than okay to protect his pup.

"wa-wa-wait. shit. wait." he was pretty much under aurelio, had tried frantically to free himself & failed, clearly. he was getting quite good after weeks of training, but aurelio was still way out of his league. "it's not happening. i can't."

If there was one thing that Yric always looked forward to, it was spending time with Aurelio. Though the other Omega was nearly ten years older than him, and the two of them hadn't really spent a lot of time growing up together - particularly because Aurelio had been the golden child, practically rewarded by his father while the man outright shamed Yric for his mere existence - Yric liked to think that he and Aurelio were closer. Or, at least, closer than one would expect two wolves in their position to be. Of course, as they got older, the time that they spent together began to dwindle so whenever Yric got the opportunity? He was happy to jump at the chance to spend time with his brother.

Even if their version of sibling bonding didn't quite look like what most wolves envisioned it to look like.

With a training sword in one hand and a rounded shield in the other, Yric surged forward in a harsh swing in an attempt to catch his brother off-guard. While he may not have been the fighter or warrior that his brother was, with the training he has received from him over the past few years, he knew he was more than capable of holding his own.

Still, that didn't stop him from getting bested, and as he lay flat on his back with his brother's sword over him, he couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "I lasted longer than I have before, aye?" he asked with a laugh as he moved to get himself off the ground, pleased with the progress he had made. Sparring with his brother was always exhilarating, always enticing... and he certainly more than welcomed it.

"I'm not going to lie, though, I can't help but feel somewhat rusty... It's been what... two moons since we've done this last?"

When the wolf awoke that morning, Matai could tell almost immediately that he was getting closer and closer to his heat - as much as he'd like to pretend he wasn't an Omega, as much as he tried to prove that he was still raised to be an Alpha despite his biology, he always received a monthly reminder of his shame. And while, for the first couple of years of his heats, he suffered in silence and used his hand to sate it, there were some people he was willing to let see in such a state.

One of them happened to be Aurelio.

The two had a bond, both understanding what it was like to be raised in a family that had been predominately Alpha and getting tore down by those that saw them as lesser, and the two often spent their time sparring with one another - sparring against Aurelio, really, was akin to sparring with an Alpha given how big the older Omega was. The only difference was that Aurelio was smarter.

With a small satchel of dried jerky, the ranch hand began to make his way to one of the guard outposts - figuring that Aurelio had the nightshift - and as the wind shifted and he caught his scent, a small smile pulled at his lips. "I've come with gifts," Matai spoke, holding up the satchel as he approached the other male. "These were cured in salt that the traders found on their last voyage... I figured I'd let you join me in tasting the new batch."
