WHO: Rafael & @auroramuller
WHERE: Bardales Inc., downtown
WHEN: mid-January, 2025
Things happened. A broad statement, but a true one. Sometimes, it was used lightly, like someone spilling a cup of coffee that splashed your pant leg. Sometimes, it was something catastrophic, like a bad accident. And sometimes, your personal assistant put in her two week notice, and then had to leave immediately due to her husband's job needing him to move across the country... the next day. What was supposed to be a transition period became a scramble, because no matter how good he was at running his business, apparently Rafael wasn't as good at running his own life, nearly missing one appointment, forgetting to order his lunch... yes, things happened. But he could fix this.
It was a quick decision: he'd cycle through the front desk girls until one fit the bill, at least temporarily, until they could hire someone specific for the position. He left it up to the senior hire, letting her talk to the girls, figure things out, told her to send whoever she chose back to his office, let her know that he would handle it from there. And so when he heard the knock at his door an hour later, he cleared his throat softly, not lifting his eyes from the paper that he was reading as he called out, "come in."
