On May 21 at the Coca-Cola Coliseum, I had the pleasure of watching Brennan Lee Mulligan's Endless Dungeon. Amazing party played by Kris Siddiqi, Kayla Lorette, Andy Hull, and Aurora Brown. It was a wonderful evening and I am so glad I got to watch it.

OH i just saw a thing about how the biggest reason people thought Aurora might marry Kody is bc they saw her wearing a Claddagh ring, like all the sister wives used to do in the past as their little sister wives thing, so let me revise my thots:

1. I'm almost positive that it's a purity ring, not an engagement ring. Is that still weird? absolutely yes

2. As we know, purity culture blurs the boundaries in father/daughter relationships in a veryyyyy uncomfy way, and along those lines it makes sense to me that she'd have a Claddagh as her purity ring. If Aurora is one thing it's up Kody's butt, and I'm pretty sure we know for a fact that Kody was the originator of the Claddagh trend in the Brown family

3. It impossible to practice purity culture or fundamentalist mormonism without just inherently treating women like property or currency, you just can't do it. So this purity Claddagh imo is like a Brown Family Brand on all the women Kody controls (Robyn and her daughters, ig) and is probably something Kody would do with all his daughters of he had been around enough to brainwash tf out of them like he had Robyn's kids (not that Robyn doesn't wholeheartedly participate).

Anyway learning that made that rumor make a lot more sense but I still don't think it has any merit. Not that the purity thing doesn't make me grossed out but, at least it's not the other thing (in my humble opinion).

The most recent episode of sister wives. Kody took Aurora to get her ears pierced and I watched that episode and didn’t think anything inappropriate about it but I went on Twitter and so many comments saying how uncomfortable that scene made them feel and how Aurora and Kody were looking at each other and I saw none of that. I just saw how for a 20 or so year old, how Aurora is treated like a child and how she behaves like a child.

I think those people are being so weird and inappropriate tbh, that is such a gross assumption to make when the only "evidence" is that Aurora is affectionate with Kody. He's been in Aurora's life since she was pretty small, and from the day Kody came into their lives, Robyn insisted he be a replacement for her kids' bio dad so it's like.......I get why people feel weird about it, but it also makes sense to me that she treats him wholly like a dad.

I think Aurora, as the oldest daughter in a patriarchal religion, was really feeling the absence of her bio dad before Kody popped up, and with her mom's enthusiastic permission, she immediately emotionally relied on Kody and let out all those feelings and emotions that come from years of yearning for a dad figure onto him. I think because people dislike Robyn they're put off by the affection, and I also think people are rightfully bitter about the way Kody has handled his relationships with his bio kids. So seeing him and Aurora being close like that just rubs them the wrong way.

Also I'm not defending Kody or Mormonism just to be clear, all of this is in defense of Aurora, but I feel like people wouldn't be saying this about them if they weren't Mormon......like as much as I do not agree with fundamentalist Mormonism, these rumors are rooted in people's stereotypes of Mormon families being taboo and inc*stuous and I don't agree with stereotyping *anyone* without hard evidence. Esp when we're talking about smearing a young woman's reputation for no reason.

Edit: I also agree that Aurora is treated like a kid by Kody in a way that the other kids from the other moms aren't, but that's an essay I'll save for another time lol

Oh, I laughed so hard!

Especially since I recently started listening to audio books, and yes I call it listening, not reading; but I still include them in the my yearly list of books! I can't do anything else whilst listening, though. Not even the dishes. I curl up in a chair with a cup of tea or hot chocolate, sometimes in the garden, and listen as I'm being read to!
