Pacing the hallway, sleeves rolled up, hair messily pulled up he glanced over at the door every few seconds. Why had they made him leave? He didn't see any issue with him being in there, he wanted to be by her side and hated the fact that he couldn't be. It was actually a battle to keep himself from going in there despite what they told him, he could hear her screaming and knew there was nothing he could do to soothe that, but that didn't mean his presence couldn't help.
That just seemed like a stupid rule that he had no idea existed, maybe because he was the youngest of two and wouldn't know what to expect. It wasn't like he wasn't prepared for this, the birth had been looming around the corner a week or two give or take. Erd tried to keep himself from worrying and hovering, but sometimes he couldn't help it and ended up doing just that much to her displeasure.
Glancing up when the screams stopped, he counted the time back murmuring it softly. Had something gone wrong? Heart stilling completely in his chest, he felt a heavy sense of dread slowly forming in the pit of his stomach. Given the circumstances, it was a double edged blade something could easily go wrong he could lose one or both of them before he could properly take the situation in.
He could clearly remember her waking him up in the early hours of the morning saying that it was time. How she knew that, he was unsure but he was quick to get dressed and jump on his horse to race into town, he was back in record time. Being pushed out of the room hadn't even clicked for about twenty minutes, but now he stood there fists clenched not even hearing the sound of his child taking their first breath.
When the door opened he took a step back a look of horror taking over his features when he saw the amount of blood on the woman's apron and covering her hands. Oh god something had happened, he would have to face a dreadful situation once he stepped foot into that room; she was smiling at him though and a soft "You may come in now." passed her lips.
The words weren't even finished before he stepped into the room, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw Aurora laying in bed looking completely exhausted and holding two quite squirming bundles. "Oh my god...are those--did you have..." he couldn't hide the shock in his voice. Still though there was a smile forming on his lips, he took another hesitant step forward so badly wanting to finally hold them in his arms.
