Alexandra Girdwood

Place: Runner Up

800 words on Demelza’s passage, if you’re curious about that, now on to Alex! Alex has the most basic look out of the entire group of unique looking girls. She didn’t impress me at first and the first shoot didn’t help with that either. However, from week 2 onwards (ignoring her stumble on week 4, 6 and the first part of week 7) she started slaying the competition. I loved her Napoleon shot, enjoyed her rock climbing shot, proved that she had really good commercial skills with that tampon commercial, and then slayed from the second part of week 7 onwards. She didn’t get a FCO from me til the final 2 weeks of the competition but she was often in my top 5, which is a great achievement considering how inconsistent or bad most of the girls this cycle were. She did struggle with the commercial shoots though, mostly due to her collagen lip implants. If you don’t know what that is, it just makes your lip stiff and makes it hard to smile. It shows in both smiling photos that she has that her smile is really tense, so she couldn’t be a good commercial girls in terms of photos. However, everything else she kinda rocked. She was the model verb, great in photos but plain looking in person. It did kinda annoy me that she went for ANTM fierce for most of her photos but hey, she committed to it well and did it much better than most ANTM girls themselves. I was kinda shocked to see people hate on her or call her worse than Demelza because let’s be honest people, Alex had some shining moments compared to the other girls, who had their down moments like Caris, Sam, and Alyce. Her walk improved a ton as wll. She was the worst walker in my opinion but then the finale happened, where she blew my socks off. I would argue that she had the best walk alongside Demelza by the end of her run. Again, she was one of the few girls not involved in the bullying scandal but instead, made low-fat brownies that made all the girls sick. That’s an actual funny moment from the cycle which is one of the only things I remember from it. There’s not much to say about Alex compared to the mess of Demelza. She was a chilled out girl who was quite competitive. She made great photos but struggled with the commercial aspects of the photoshoots like smiling or being more joyful. In the final 3 we did have, Alex should’ve been the easy choice for a win, she was just the full package and it would avoid AusNTM losing their sponsorship to Vogue (sidetone: I would love to see Tahnee do a Vogue Cover but a girl can dream).

Samantha Morley

Place: 3rd Place

Average: 3.4

Now, since Samantha did partake in the bullying of Alamela alongside most of the house, I’m just going to judge based on modeling potential because let’s be honest, they all suck but we’re focusing on modeling, not personality. Now, unlike Alex, Sam has one of the most unique looks I’ve ever seen in a NTM. Her naturally big curious eyes and overall bird-like looks just shine in a cast with a cast of diverse different looks. Samantha had a killer body as well made for runway and pageantry. She did have a weak start for me personally, her vogue group was one of the worst she’s made and although her Napoleon shot was a step up, I still am not a fan of the photo due to the cropping and bad body positioning. However, after that, she was able to skyrocket into my top 5 constantly to make some pretty good photos. I liked how badass her wall-climbing was, I don’t agree with her FCO for the Alex Perry Lookbook but it highlights her unique looks really well, her commercial is iconically amazing, her Pjs was decent, the 2 resort shots she had were one of the best of the week and finally, she exploded into her peak with her amazing Oyster shot, which deservedly earned her a FCO. However, she did take a trip and fall by the finale. Although her couture circus shot was fine, it took her to her first trip to the bottom 2 for me and a big step down for her. Finally, her New York shot was just a mess, though I would like to say it was sabotage on production’s part to justify Demelza’s win. She clearly knew how to model her face, she was made for beauty shots and her body was made for runway. However, she was quite boring when it came to posing. She always did fine when it came to that, but it’s where most of the flaws in her photos would occur. Look at her PJs shot with the awkward posing, her first shoot where she made herself look 2 feet shorter, and her circus where she lifted her leg far too up so it ruins her body. She always excelled when it came to beauty shoots but if you look at shots like her swimwear, where they cropped it so you just see her face, it makes a bit of a difference if you ask me. I prefer using uncropped photos so I can judge the whole photo and Samantha’s posing in the uncrossed photos are either lazy or twisted. However, with those issues aside, Samantha was still constantly good, not great though. She only made one shot I loved but the rest, I’m either neutral with or I like but not love it. I do prefer consistent performances over a rollercoaster so whatever. Samantha was one of the strongest in runway as well! Overall, it was sad to see her go by the homestretch since she was one of the best girls in the competition but her trip by the final 2 weeks was hard to watch. In the final 3 we did have, I would love to see Samantha make it to the final 2 though I do have one other girl in mind for the win.

Caris Eves

Place: 4th Place

Caris, what a sane soul you are. One of the few nice girls in the cycle and overall just an adorable personality. She had her mind set on the prize so much that she was willing to improve everything about her, which including losing some weight and making her skin look better. Her determination was admirable to watch and thank god it was worth it because it paid off when it came to photos. She, like Samantha, had a pretty bad start with her awful Vogue group shot and the admittedly better but still bad Napoleon shot. She then went up in photo quality slowly but surely. She was able to overcome a big fear of heights for her serene wall-climbing shot. She also was able to make unique photos that stood out from the crowd like before mentioned wall-climbing and her somber Alex Perry Lookbook shot that I could see any company use. She had great commercial appeal due to her more youthful features and she proved that she can be sassy and charming with her tampon commercial. However, she was finally able to hit it off with me with 3 FCOs in a row! Her PJs shot may be underwhelming compared to her earlier efforts but it’s one of the better shots that week. Her 2 resort shots rocked everyone off the edge though! It was the best she ever did on set and she rocked it hard! She did struggle on the Oyster week , although I do say there was sabotage involved due to her killing it on set but she ended her trip with a big hurrah with her stunning circus couture shot! I didn’t expect much from Caris but she really knocked my socks off. She may not be my winner since I do think she would’ve struggled in New York due to her meh walk but her overall improvement, great commercial and high fashion appeal, and overall unique look should’ve easily carried her to the top 2. She deserved better, we deserved a non-bully final 2!

Alyce Crawford

Place: 5th Place

Is it weird that I love Alyce? Maybe, she was a snobby bitch but a kind soul at heart since she was one of the few girls who actually went to say sorry to Alamela in a genuine way. She had that rich bitch look naturally anyways, especially with her unique bone structure and regal expressions. She didn’t stand out to me in person one bit but on photos, she was a star, although wildly inconsistent. I would say that she was one of the ones to beat during the first 4 weeks of the competition. Her group shot was on of the few decent ones of the group but then she was able to get 2 FCOs out of me. Her Napoleon shot is still one of the most underrated shots of the cycle to me and I adore her Alex Perry with all my heart. Those shots are where her bone structure shined and the resting bitch face worked for a shot. However, she did start going downhill once she got my 2 FCOs. I do find her commercial laughable due to her tone but it’s still a cute video. However, her sleepwear shot was a complete mess alongside her resort shot. She looked quite bored, out of it, and her posing was a mess. It was odd how fast she felt but I believe it was due to her being unsure about her body (plus the weight gain she had that was sadly noticeable). She didn’t know any poses to flatter her body as well. After her 2 disasters though, she was able to step it up a bit with her good swimwear and frankly beautiful Oyster shot, which finally got her mercy killed from the competition. I never really had a problem with the way she modeled her face since I was kinda obsessed with it but her poses often make or break any of her photos. She did a great walk though so if she did make it to New York, I could see clients loving her. However, besides her weight gain, her biggest problem was her height. She was obviously the shortest girl in person but in photo, it wasn’t that big of a deal so it could be excusable for photos but not in person. I never knew I would end up liking Alyce as much as I did since she seemed like a bitch in the beginning. However, depending on how I feel, she could be an easy spot in my top 3-4.

Rebecca Jobson

Place: 6th Place

Average: 5.86

Rebecca really should’ve done better than she actually did. Her look stood out among the girls. Her athletic body and unique face is a plus for me as well. However, she just disappointed me so bad. She had 2 good photos at the start with her admittedly ok vogue shot and good Napoleon shot, which is where she peaked at that point. The rest of her portfolio was just a downhill slide to the 9th layer of hell. She made her decent wall-climbing but then a horrible Alex Perry, terrible commercial, creepy yet boring sleepwear before finally leaving the competition with her decent resort but bad swimwear. She let the hype about herself (and the FCO she got for the Napoleon shot) get to her head is what I believe happened. She thought she was hot shit and then flopped horribly for everyone to see. She was also just terrible on set. She never gave any variety on any of her poses and often had a dead face whenever they were shooting, resulting in dead and boring photos. Trust me, watching her move on set was liking watching a snail trying to run a marathon in 20 minutes, it was so slow and painful. I understand that the judges wanted her to succeed after her 2 great weeks but at that point, she just became dead weight for everyone. It doesn’t help that she was involved in the bullying scandal and never said sorry for it according to Alamela. Her walk was also very up and down. She could have one of the best walks to one of the worst I’ve seen. It was just a mess for me and honestly, the judges should’ve mercy killed her by the Alex Perry week. It was one of the worst weeks for her, it started off her downfall, and her involvement in the bullying situation should’ve been questioned. I expected better from her but instead, I got nothing but shit.

Jamie Lee

Place: 7-8th Place

Average: 8.8

I think I made it really clear but I just did not care for Jamie at all. She had one of the worst looks in the cast, I could never tell that she was in her early 20s because honestly, she looked like Caris or Belinda’s mother half of the time. The Karen cut she had at the beginning didn’t help with that either. She was just a horrible model through and through and barely improved on any skills throughout the competition. Her vogue was god awful alongside her Napoleon (which she had better shots on set but honestly, is that any better?), I hated her wall-climbing and Alex Perry Lookbook with a passion and her commercial skills were fine but forgettable. She did make one decent shot with her sleepwear but it still highlighted her biggest flaw: she looked old no matter what angle. It’s not a bad thing at all but when you’re trying to be a model in a world that favors youth, you’re kinda screwed no matter what. She had a nice body but her runway was forgettable at best. I didn’t expect anything from Jamie and I had every right to. Do I feel like she was sabotaged for some shots? Yes, she seemed to have a decent attitude and workface when on set but her photos at the end are just god awful. If I were to make a worst list, she would make up about 4 spots for it, really sad if you ask me. I’m shocked that Jamie was even casted in the first place, she just did not fit in this cycle for me and would be an easy first boot in my opinion.

Leiden Kronemberger

Place: 7-8th Place

Average: 6.67

Like Jamie, I didn’t expect much of Leiden at all. She had a fine look but her somewhat spread out face (if that makes sense) didn’t photograph well at first. I still stand by her week 1 shot being a disaster and her second shot, Napoleon, was fine but still a big downgrade. However, after she got her makeover with the blonde short pixie, I really started to see the potential in her. It’s as if that makeover gave her some damn life and the ability to actually model. I loved her wall-climbing, where she finally seen to do a risk that paid off and despite her next shots never living up to the hype of that, she still was able to consistently make decent shots. I liked the confidence of her lookbook, she made a funny but laughably bad commercial, but she was able to rebound with her cocky confident sleepwear shot. She was on a huge improvement arc that I was proud of her for, but I wasn’t mad that she was eliminated at the same time. Why? Confidence. My biggest problem with Leiden wasn’t with photos though, it was with her attitude and confidence. She had a crappy attitude during set and in the house due to her lack of confidence. Speaking of confidence, she just didn’t have any on her. Even after her makeover, she was so self-conscious about herself that it was kinda sad to watch. Clearly, Leiden was a pretty girl and it was a shame that she wasn’t able to harass anything to translate it onto a photo. I wanted Leiden to go far due to her rapid improvement from her bad start and improvement on her walk but her confidence and attitude would be her biggest downfall.
