Austin Found Opinion *SPOILERS!!*
Ok if you haven't seen the movie and don't want it ruined DON'T READ THIS!!!! No I mean it I'm going into total detail and ruining everything so leave now!!!! Seriously shoo!! Ok for everyone else here it is. This film isn't really the feel good film the trailer told us it was. To be honest it kind of broke my heart! It's basically about a woman who enlists her high school boyfriend to help fake her daughter's kidnapping for fame, glory and mostly money!! Firstly I'm not slagging off the actors!! This was a very well acted film and the performances where all fantastic. After all it takes a great actor to make you love a character but a fantastic one to make you hate a character!! Now, let's just talk about the mother. Leanne I think her name was. She was an overbearing, pushy, manipulative and selfish woman who I hated through out!! At first you think that she will realize how selfish and unfair she's being to her daughter and there are moments where you think... yes, there's the realization...but then it fades away as though it never happened. Even when her very placid husband goes a little nuts and breaks down, because after all he has no idea this is fake or if his daughter is ok. Fact of the matter is she loves her daughter yes, but she loves herself a lot fucking more in my opinion!! Then we get to the boyfriend, Billy, played by an actor I adore Sleet Ulrich. I have loved this actor for a very long time, as Billy Loomis he stole my heart with his boy next door charm and sinister smile, even in the craft when he was kind of a massive douche bag I couldn't help but love him... this character was another story. Now when I saw the trailer it reminded me of one of his earlier films 'Nobody's Baby' where he played a sweethearted man with the worst luck... I was wrong in assuming Austin Found would recreate that character, because I felt bad for Billy being used like he was but then he drown out that sympathy with his actions. He just got meaner and meaner towards the daughter, at one point even slapping her across the face so hard she pretty much flys across the room. He very slowly starts to realize he's being used and drinks excessively and for some reason seems to be blaming the child for her mother manipulating him. I don't like this character at all and I'm not going to lie I was pretty happy he Died!!! Yep, the mother killed him to cover her tracks. You could say it was self defence because there was a struggle and fight before hand but the man was knocked out on the floor and she smothered him!!! Don't like her. Dont like him. Would have been happy if they both died and the daughter went back to live with her father, who actually seemed like a very loving man who doted on her like a dad should. Then we get to J.T. Billy's best friend and compliance, now this is the only part the trailer was true to. Because the man is a fucking sweetheart!! He was caring and kind and made the daughter pancakes, played video games, he even got her a violin (a love her mother did not support) and then went nuts and threatens Billy when his friend hit the girl!! So yeah I like J.T. Then we have this reporter the mother bullied back in school and I'm not going to go into this one because to be honest she just bugged the fuck out of me. I get that the mum bullied her and all, but she just made it into her own vendetta from the start, it was like a side story and then at the end she makes a deal with the woman she spent the whole film trying to destroy!! She was just annoying. Then we get to this poor girl, the daughter, Patty. This girl anyone would be proud to have as a child. She's open and kind. Has a good and aware realization of the world. She is a delight. However she has every aspect of her life controlled by her mother who is forcing her into being someone she isn't. Even the kids bedroom feels wrong, like she didn't get to pick a single thing in it apart from her Violin. Even at the end of the film, when it's all done and over and time has passed her mother is still pushing her into the lime light that Patty doesn't want and she's had enough. The film ending on Patty announcing to the world "my mother kidnapped me." My heart breaks for this girl. So yeah, not the feel good film I was looking forward to and to be honest I'm left dissaponted by it. If the trailer had been more honest then I think I'd be more positive but there it is. Very well acted and written... just not happy with it myself. So there. That is all. Rant over. Love you all.
