The sound of Mitch's voice, slightly raised and annoyed, had Auston turning away from the bar they had set up to look at the other.
Mitch was glaring at Willy. He looked properly annoyed, and not fake pouty annoyed like he got when Auston did something to annoy him. This was Mitch actually taking offense to something while Willy just stared at him as if Christmas had come early.
"Did I lie?", Willy smirked, eyes all but twinkling with mischief because he had gotten what he wanted. He had gotten Mitch to bite, "That thing could have it's own government"
Auston debated walking away but the way Matthew was hiding his laughter in Joey's shoulder had him curious. He would probably regret finding out whatever it was that they were arguing about, but Auston couldn't resist seeing why Mitch was frowning so cutely.
"No, but still....", Mitch huffed, running a hand through his hair, "That's rude. It's not something that can be helped, you're just being mean"
That had Matthew weak at the knees as he caught Auston's questioning gaze. The younger player looked as if he couldn't breathe. His cheeks were red and wet with tears as Joey held him up, biting at his own lip to try and stop his own laughter.
"Mitchy, I love you, but that thing has it's own zip co- oh hey, Aus", Willy snickered when Auston finally joined them, "Perfect timing, we were just talking about -"
Mitch's glare somehow intensified before he was kicking Willy in the ankle. Willy didn't even flinch.
"Fuck off, William", Mitch moved until his arm was pressed against Auston's, "Go bother Mo"
Willy, still laughing, took the dismissal in good form. He saluted them a little before making his way back through the room.
Joey didn't need a hint. He just wrangled Matthew under his arm and tugged the other man with him, saying something about finding JT, leaving Mitch with Auston.
"So, going to tell me what that was about?"
Mitch leaned against him, avoiding the question by peering at the drink in Auston's hand as if he was debating on whether or not he could steal it. They both knew Auston would give it to him, but Mitch liked to think he was getting away with stealing things.
"Just Willy being Willy", Mitch grumbled, still frowning a little when he peaked back up at Auston.
The way his eyes drifted to Auston's forehead told him everything he needed to know as he tried not to laugh and wrapped his arm around Mitch's waist.
"Mitchy, you don't have to defend my forehead to people. I know what it is", Auston grinned at the way Mitch turned his glare on him, "It's a big forehead, babe"
"Yeah, maybe, but only I am allowed to crack jokes about it"
Auston was so fond of him that all he could do was squeeze Mitch as close as possible and drop a kiss on Mitch's head with a soft laugh.
"Okay Mitchy, if you say so", Auston smiled at how Mitch perked up at the softness in his gaze and voice, "Thank you for defending my forehead"
Mitch pulled back a little, just enough to lean up and press a quick kiss of his own to Auston's forehead.
"It might be big, but that just gives me more room to work with", Mitch grinned before he robbed Auston's drink to take a swig of it, "Now come on, we need to go beat Mo at ping pong"
