#Repost @em.ilyreeves ・・・ The Matriarch CoConspirators Indie Brewing ABV 6.5% Hops:EL Dorado, Mosaic & Citra I wanna start off this review by saying thank you to CoConspirators for presenting a strong badass woman in beer in an amazing way. Ever since I read a great article in Froth Magazine about how to put women on a beer labels by Emily Day, I have been a huge fan of this beer, literally just for the badass Matriarch alone. So you better believe how happy I was to realise that this beer is actually really great! Already a NEIPA fan, I was really excited to see how these guys had taken on the world of heavy hops and haze. Once cracked, big hoppy tones of stone fruit and citrus hit the nose. This paired with a beautiful golden haze and a creamy head with good retention are enough to make a girls mouth water! And boy does this Matriarch turn it UP! The mouthfeel is foamy and fluffy with a medium carbonation that feels great on the tongue. The first tastes are fruity and fresh with a mouthload of well balanced hops - to my pleasure though there was a bitter finish on the tongue which meant that throughout my glass I was finding sweetness and bitterness balancing each other out. The Matriarch is making me want to be naughty this year so she can pop out of the pines and give me a dressing down every so often.
