Prompt: dirk and todd dig up a timecapsule one of them buried as a child

OOH THIS IS SUCH A GOOD CONCEPT!!!!!!!!

like. it’s probably Todd’s lil timecapsule because it’s probably in Seattle and he’s the one who attended like. a conventional primary school and was forced to do it as part of a school project and?? he probably buried all sorts of dumb stuff in it like his first edition Back to the Future topps cards, a picture of him and Amanda jamming, a homemade poster for his future band, the Mexican Funeral, etc. and like

maybe he and Dirk don’t even mean to dig it up. they’re probably out on some kind of case and looking for something else but Everything is Connected so Todd’s like “something’s…familiar about this spot” seconds before Dirk unearths the capsule and when Todd shows some recognition, Dirk absolutely insists that they inspect the contents (”in case it pertains to the case, Todd!”) ((it doesn’t, he just wants to see))

and Todd is absolutely just. all huffy and embarrassed about everything involved because he’s Todd but Dirk. Dirk is enthralled because Todd doesn’t share a lot about his childhood in general, and every item he brings out he will stare at almost reverently before turning his gaze on Todd and holding it until Todd gives in and explains the significance of the item. and, after a while, Dirk gets a bit lost in the wistful expression growing on Todd’s face, and clings onto every new detail Todd provides–

until Todd gets inevitably prickly about being to emotionally vulnerable all at once, and tenses before stalking away and insisting that they continue on w their case and “can you please just–put that thing back where you found it, Dirk” (secretly, however, Dirk stashes the capsule in the Jeep for future evaluation)

((idk if you wanted this as a fic or simply a concept but???? i’d be More than happy to write this as an entire fic, if you wanted!))

I know that it won't bring a response sooner but YOU NEVER KNOW MAN! Like it took me months to update this. I had to finish a degree first! Please let mine and my beautiful Beta's efforts go to waste.....
