Here’s a snippet from a CSBB work in progress for you to enjoy!
The new Mrs. Blanchard had established herself as mistress of Locksley Manor within a week of her in-laws’ passing. Another week had been enough to show Emma and Mary Margaret where their place lay under the new management. Their sister-in-law had not been overtly rude or discourteous in the presence of her husband, but by subtle snubs and hints, had managed to convey to her sisters-in-law how superfluous she considered their presence in the family-circle. With the arrival of Regina’s brother David Spencer on a visit to Locksley, the subtle antagonism had almost turned to outright hostility. For it was clear to all and sundry that David was smitten with Mary Margaret right from the start.
