@authorctcallahan Because talent implies something innate. You were born able to draw and write and dance and sing. Then you're Talented. But skilled means you put hard work into developing it. I am a skilled dancer. Not a talented dancer. When I began to dance, I had no beat, no balance, no flexibility. I worked hard for years to beat those traits into my body. The same holds true for writing and drawing. Sure I drew as a little kid, but I was crap at it. I was crap at it for a long time. I worked hard to be a good artist, i was developing a Skill. I hated writing in the early years of elementary school. Despised it. My teachers and my family said I had no talent for it. Which was true. Now I'm writing a fanifiction that's forty something thousand words long and still going and really isn't half bad. People say I'm a talented author, when the truth is that I wrote crappy little stories in my spare time because I wanted to write things like the stories I loved. So maybe some people do have talent. I probably had a bit of talent as an artist- But the work that goes in to making it good and polished and beautiful is Skill. I'm skilled. But not especially talented.
