Hellooo d!! i absolutely love ur writing its so beautiful 🦋 id like to ask how did u deal with low engagement when u started posting? i am posting but i barely get any interactions with other people and ita making my motivation go low. i even got a few hateful comments.
++ cant wait to read the next chapter of the nightingale 🙃❤️
hilli my love!! thank you so much for your kind words bby :( 🌷💖
honestly, when i first started writing, it was never about getting attention or engagement. i've been on tumbir for years, quietly filling drafts with little pieces of myself-things i never thought would leave that space.
the first fic i ever posted was Tell Me You Will Believe Me. i actually wrote it sometime around mid 2024, but it didn't see the light of day until maybe a month ago. i just... shared it without thinking much of it. and somehow, it found people. it resonated. some even asked for a part two. so i slowly started letting more of my drafts slip through.
so truly, bby, you're asking the wrong person. i started posting because i was convinced no one would see it, and no one would even know it was me behind the words.
but if you want my advice love, just post because you're doing this for you. this isn't a job or an obligation, it's a hobby. a soft space meant to bring you joy. write because it's fulfilling, because it lets your emotions flow and settle. not for engagement, not for numbers. just for you, always.
regarding hateful comments, we all get them. tumblr is a beautiful place, but it's not without its bitter corners. if it ever starts to feel like too much, you're allowed to take a step back. close your inbox, take a break, breathe. just remember
—there are gentle souls out there too. ones who see you, who care and who will surely love your writing!!🌷💘
i wish you the bestest of luck on your journey bby <33 💖💖🌷🌷🌙🌙🌙

if you do not have adhd please do not write fanfics, novels, etc about having adhd. you may include a character that has adhd, but please do not make it about the adhd. I promise no matter how much research you do, you do not know how it feels, you do not now what it is like, and you will end up at the least misrepresenting us, and at the worst, offending us
Here's a quick rule of thumb: Don't annoy science fiction writers. These are people who destroy entire planets before lunch. Think of what they'll do to you.

Jim Shepard: The Percheron in the Tunnel
An Exercise in Empathy
“The first worry writers have,” Jim Shepard says, “when they consider working with something like 'real material', or historical material, has to do with the issue of authority. As in, 'Where do I get off writing writing about that?'”
Shepard's response? “Where do you get off writing about anything?”
