Short Rant Because I Saw Something That Annoyed Me.
So, it occurred to me that not only have I said other people are free to use my drabble list on their own blogs as long as they let me know, someone did let me know they were using some of it a couple of months ago.
And this didn’t cross my mind at the time because I honestly forgot that I even answered this person who has kindly dropped me an ask to let me know they were using a couple lines from it, and this is the part where I’m gonna sound rude again.
The person who sent me the ask to use my drabble list, you came to me on anon. And I was still nice enough to say yes to you, but I should probably go back and look at that ask you sent me because I’m pretty sure I didn’t get an option even though I wasn’t annoyed at the time, because you said you had already used two or three parts of my drabble list. And even if I said no, what's stopping you from using them still right?
And as I said, I was still polite enough to let you do that but as I went through my posts just now this is what annoyed me.
I chose to let you off for coming to me on anon, I simply asked that in return you send me an inbox so I knew who was behind the anonymous message and so I could see your surely fantastic work when it was done.
A simple inbox, because if you did that, my followers that you didn't want to know your identity, still wouldn't. And I don't see why, none of us would have shamed you for it, we're a supportive bunch here not a shaming one.
But that was around October/November last year, maybe earlier and you still haven’t replied to me or given me any sort of clue as to who it is using my work.
So let me tell you something, I’ve had a few good rants on here, I don’t know if I have deleted them or not, but I have made those rants because I am the type of person who wants fairness and justice, not just for myself but for everyone.
Now let me ask you this, when you saw my drabble list and the amount of things I had put on there, did you as a fellow writer who would know about time and effort even stop to think about how much time and effort I put into that list? Because I certainly didn’t pull it out of my ass and hope it was half decent, I had that saved in my drafts for months upon months as I thought of each prompt I put on that list.
Now this may not be, hey it might be copyright, I don’t know, as dumb as it sounds I’m not a total genius about copyright, but what I do know is whether you consult that person or not, copyright is taking and using or people's work.
And hey who knows I might be overreacting to this because let’s face it, nearly everyone could come up with a lot of the things I put on that list.
But I’m here to write the best shit I can, and I’m here to do it fairly and out of my own creativity, so I believe that I have a right to know who has taken my work and used it whether you have permission from to use it or not.
So anon, if you see this and I still don't get some sort of message from you that's not anonymous, I will keep fighting and I will keep doing whatever it takes to find out who is using my work.
Because I am a person with a lot of patience, look how long I have stupidly left this to go on. But once I am angry, I will leave my mark, that is for sure. And if I have to solve this on my lonesome, I will.
Because as the person who created that drabble list, I deserve to know who is using my work.
