a friend just sent me this pic of a cloth I gave them back in the 80s when we were going out that they still have - it's a resist dye experiment I made at a Yoruban dyeing workshop where they used instant mashed potato in a squeeze bottle for the resist medium (we also got to play with indigo but I don't have any examples left) - the mash dries to a shiny plastic that resists dye but bows before laundry soap
