So luckily my app hasn't updated yet but I realised my auto-update had switched back on in Play Store - so here's how to get rid of that shit.

1. Open up Play Store and open your settings in the top right corner

2. Scroll down to "Settings" (NOT "manage apps and device"!)

3. Open "Network preferences"

4. Make sure your settings look like this

This is more hidden and fiddly than it used to be. Check your settings!
