Welcome to the Auto Motor Show!
We begin with most likely the greatest Motor Show on the planet: The Frankfurt Motor Show. Otherwise called the International Motor Show Germany, the show happens in the Messe Frankfurt and pulls in around one million guests for every year. The show is split in two parts, with business vehicles being appeared on even numbered years and traveler vehicles appeared…

The Wildest Cars From The 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show
It arrives every other year, only on odd numbers, trading its time with Paris as one of the world’s most important auto shows. Unlike American-based shows, which typically unveil fewer crazy concepts and ludicrously expensive exotics — focusing, instead, on machines you’d actually buy — European shows prefer the wild and wacky, sometimes silly, but always entertaining.
And things were no different this year in Frankfurt, Germany, for the 66th International Motor Show.
Here are this year’s wildest creations.
Thunder Power EV Concept
It boasts a name you won’t forget and a face only a mother could love, but the Thunder Power EV Concept, targeted for sale in Europe in 2017, China in 2018 and the U.S. after that, is said to travel 404 miles using nothing but its 125 kWh lithium-ion battery, a clear step above Tesla, and a 430 horsepower variant that sprints to 62 mph in under five seconds. That sounds mighty promising, and when it does arrive on sale, we just hope its chops have seen some nip and tuck. (It was designed by Zagato, you know? Yes, that same Italian company that has worked with Aston Martin.)

Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA
It looks sleek, stunning and futuristic — everything one demands from a concept car. But this Mercedes changes shape when it crests 50 mph. The IAA boasts flaps in the front bumper that extend by one inch, the profile of the wheels alter to prevent disrupting the air flow, and the front louvres recess by 2.4 inches. Most impressive is the 15.4 inch extension to the rear tail, which makes the IAA look sort of like a reversing catfish. This ensures the four door, four seater morphs into one of the slipperiest, most aerodynamic cars of its kind, transforming from a 0.25 drag coefficient (a Chevy Volt is 0.28) to an eel-like 0.19 — in theory helping save fuel and the environment (although the additional weight for such tech must offset the benefits somewhat). Click here to see the transformation in action.

Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo
It’s a Le Mans-like race car designed by Hyundai… Wait, what?
The N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo is, like its name suggests, drivable only on PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 6 video game. While the 871 horsepower hydrogen fuel cell racer did appear in the flesh at Frankfurt, it’s not a car we’ll ever see beyond the digital world. What it is, however, is a fancy way for Hyundai to announce its new “N” sub brand, bringing more performance-orientated vehicles to real streets in the near future.

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo
And here we are, Hyundai versus Bugatti, a battle that raged in Frankfurt for the coolest virtual race car playable on PlayStation’s Gran Turismo. But Bugatti’s concept is more than just a virtual car — it previews the next Veyron, the soon-to-be-revealed Bugatti Chiron. Rumors have it that if you take off the racing winglets and remove the rear spine of this Gran Turismo super car, you’re pretty much left with the Veyron’s long-awaited replacement, which is said to be even more powerful — and more expensive — than that what came before it. Color us excited.

Citroen Cactus M Concept
Talking of fast cars… this isn’t one of them. But it does seemingly tow a tent?
Citroen has been producing wacky designs for some time, and the Cactus M is basically a topless version of the already-revealed and completely oddball regular Cactus. Like that car, the air-puffed plastic molding on the doors are immune to the elements, and being that this car is a soft top, the interior is waterproof too. It boasts an inflatable roof-type tent-thingy that, apparently, if you lay the rear seats down provides living quarters. It all sounds a bit Top Gear-y if you ask me.

Honda Project 2&4
Part bike, part car: Honda’s 2&4 celebrates the brand’s position as an engine supplier to machines with both two and four wheels. This particular one is powered by an RC213V motorcycle engine, producing 212 horsepower from the 999cc V-4 four stroke. With a weight of just 893 lbs., the 2&4 — which was designed based on an in-house global design competition — should be ridiculously fast and stunningly tactile. The real key, however, looks to be not falling off.

Nissan Gripz
Ever wanted a sports car that can go off-road? That’s the premise behind the Nissan Gripz, which uses the “Z” in its name to link the concept to its Z sports cars. It looks like a 370Z mated with a Nissan Juke, and that offspring then mated with a Transformer. Nissan is testing the waters for such a radical car, although any production machine that does derive from the Gripz would undoubtably be tamed.

Porsche Mission E Concept
Hybrid Porsches are becoming a thing, what with the 918 Spyder, Panamera and Cayenne hybrid. Even the 911 will soon boast a hybrid variant. But all-electric has been but a rumor, and while the Mission E is just a concept, it clearly states the brand’s intentions. With 600 horsepower and a range of 312 miles, the all-wheel-drive sedan hits 62 mph in 3.5 seconds; through a quick charging station it can recover 80 percent of its charge in just 15 minutes. Tesla has had the road to itself for a while now, but over the next few years, expect the competition to be electrifying. (Sorry!)

Smart Forgigs JBL Special
OK, so it was revealed back in May, but what we have here is a banging 5,720 watt stereo, bro. To put that into perspective a high-end Bang & Olufsen system only makes 1,300 watts. Created by JBL, the whole thing required 100 meters of wiring, and if/when you ever find yourself in the market for such as system, buying this one is smart because it comes with an entire car.

Toyota CHR Concept
Toyota admits to being late to the compact crossover party; the smallest SUV it has in its arsenal is the RAV4. But the Japanese automaker confirmed at Frankfurt that the CHR Concept will go into production, although we expect the final version to look a lot less radical than this. Having said that, have you seen the new Prius? Yeah, it’s on display in Frankfurt too, and like the hydrogen fuel cell Mirai, it too looks, er, interesting.

Peugeot Fractal
It’s all electric, boasts 204 horsepower with a range of 280 miles, but what’s most interesting about Peugeot’s Fractal is that it was designed by sound…
I have no idea what that means either, but here’s what Peugeot has to say about it: “Fractal has an interior and exterior identity developed for the first time in partnership with sound designer Amon Tobin. In the city, the car is in sync with its environment.”
“We have designed an innovative ‘9.1.2’ system combining a high-quality 9.1 set-up consisting of 13 speakers featuring tactile bass systems built into the back of each seat,” the company continued. “9.1.2 makes driving more instinctive by enriching information through the use of acoustics. This additional feature of the Peugeot i-Cockpit is characterized by the ‘spatialization’ and ‘dynamisation’ of sound.”
Again, no idea what any of that means.

Bentley Bentayga
So it might not be particularly wild, but the Queen of England just bought one, so that means it makes the list. Bentley’s 600 horsepower luxury SUV has been talked about for sometime, and finally, Frankfurt is the venue in which we get to see it. It’s not especially pretty, but its W-12 motor does take it to 189 mph…

Bentley Bentayga Trunk
… And it houses a storage compartment in the trunk for all the champagne a royal can drink — precisely what a Queen needs during her lengthy hunting trips to Scotland.

Ford GT Supercar: First Look
The Ford GT ranks as the only proper American supercar — and in 2016, Ford will bring it back with this car, a carbon-fiber creation powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6 located behind the driver with more than 600 hp. The days of Ford beating Ferraris may not be over just yet:

Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6: First Look
Bentley shares few details regarding the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept it will unveil in Geneva, except that it will lead its class in terms of performance. And yet this is not merely a marketing splash that will never be built; Bentley says it could stand next to the Continental GT as the brand's high performance two-seater sports car, and yet still retain the luxury one expects from the British automaker. It is also a glimpse into the design language that future Bentley models may adopt. We say, just build it.
