it’s so funny to me how over the course of the show they make Shawn more and more pathetic.
I often forget that the VERY FIRST scene Shawn is introduced with he is hooking up with a girl and being all coy like “Oh, I have handcuffs”. Going back to rewatch the show the scene feels soooo out of character bc by the 3rd season they have toned down his “bad boy” persona to basically nothing.
It’s very fun to see the evolution of the character and what the writers chose to get rid of and lean into. Like how quickly they stopped using Shawn’s odd jobs to justify him knowing something and practically forgot about his motorcycle until it was time to drop an incredibly hard line on Juliet with the whole “i’ve been thinking about getting a car” monologue.
I love how Shawn’s character ended up but i’m so curious about the alternate reality in which they chose to fully lean into the bad boy jack of all trades of it all.
At least it serves as fanfic fuel that i’m endlessly thankful for
